How Xbox Scared the Crap out of People at 3am | Nostalgia Nerd - Duration: 7:57.

Game console boot screens have come a long way since when they started.
[Master System sounds]
But when CDs came along, things had to change dramatically.
There had to be a menu system so you could swap discs or perhaps play audio CDs.
[Mega CD music *JOYFUL*]
Now, in the days of the Mega CD this was a cheerful and happy experience; the music was
bursting with JOY.
But this seemed to change with the dawn of the Playstation.
The intro you were greeted with just instilled you with a sense of dread and unease.
[Playstation intro music]
[Dread inducing (perhaps)]
Now this wasn't a bad sense of dread, but it definitely left a sense of mystery about
what was about to happen, and this didn't get better, in fact, it got worse, and for
me it culminated with the Xbox's dashboard.
I'm here to tell you why...
[Creepy dashboard sounds]
The original Xbox, released in 2001 was a hench hunk of a machine.
It was vast and heavy compared to almost every other console we'd seen, but it was also somewhat
menacing.
A huge shadowy slab, unearthed in some archaeological dig, just waiting to unleash powers beyond
our comprehension.
That's not actually that far from the truth.
Compared to its peers, the graphics and sound of the Xbox were staggering, making it incredibly
easy to get sucked into whatever game world it threw at you.
But sometimes, when that was all too much, it would be relaxing to just boot up the Xbox
without a game, and bathe in the alien green of the original dashboard.
Those eerie unsettling sounds, provided a comforting sense of dread.
It was like an parallel alien world calling to you through time and space.
But for those who left their Xbox on, and woke up at 3am in the morning to terrifying
unidentified sounds, you know that this is just scratching the surface.
You see, the Xbox holds a secret.
In fact, it holds many secrets, and these secrets were enough to frighten the wits out
of both adults and children alike.
Of course, it helps if you've just woken up, perhaps in a drunken stuper, and all you have
is the glow of your Xbox, along with these strange, confusing sounds.
Along with the swirling, water like ambience, were seemingly sounds of squealing midnight
trains, distant sea creatures, creaking doors and strange alien voices.
All generated by the Xbox, as it sat, glowing in the corner, watching & judging you whilst
you slept.
It was a few years ago that Microsoft's Larry Hyrb (you know, that Major Nelson chap) revealed
that these sounds were actually modified Apollo mission conversations, which would randomly
mesh themselves into the Xbox ambient sound to frankly, scare the living cr*p out of you.
It's really like the backing track to a horror movie.
If you listen to the original recordings, they're not much better to be honest.
Well, not for me anyway.
I always get a feeling of eerie disconnect listening to transmissions like this.
These were people almost completely isolated from the rest of humanity.
Even though all turned out well, I find it really unsettling.
These public domain sounds can all be found on the hard drives of original units.
Although clearly, some aren't directly from the apollo missions.
Clearly this is straight out of Atari ST speech synthesis.
If that isn't produced by a Yamaha AY sound chip, then I'll eat my hat.
Although the words may be transcribed from an Apollo communication.
It's a little hard to make them out, but I'm getting...
"Do you read?
Do you read?" and there's a "seven" there.
So it clearly sounds like a communication put through speech synthesis.
Obviously the intention here, was to make the Xbox seem like alien technology, especially
tied with the extensive green colour scheme.... and for me, it bloody worked.
I've heard some people say that it was worse with surround sound on.
Like it created a proper haunted house show.
Whilst others claim that headphones were the worst for receiving these foreign sounds.
Well, I thought I'd run my own test, and
just leave an Xbox running in the office, to see what horrors lay in wait.
Ending on a jump scare.
That's
a little cliche isn't it?

how to use a live paint bucket tool like a pro in Adobe Illustrator
what is that people welcome back to Satori graphics the home of graphic
design content right here on YouTube the live paint bucket tool in
Illustrator is really awesome for quickly painting in sections of your
artwork and this is especially useful prevent illustrations today I'm gonna
quickly show you the main features of the Live Paint Bucket tool so you can
use them like a pro in your designs this tool is mainly used when you've created
a design using a strokes like on the bus that you can see here the Live Paint
Bucket tool can be located in the toolbar or you can use a simple keyboard
shortcut by just pressing K on your keyboard
when they're totally selected you can toggle the stroke and the fill color by
pressing Shift + X but we're only going to be using the fill option with this
tool to actually use the Live Paint Bucket on a design you need to first
select the entire design with the selection tool then press K for the Live
Paint Bucket tool and then click the design like so illustrator is going to
create groups of shapes within your design ready to drop in colors which
we're going to do soon but essentially what has happened now is that your
design has been grouped together made up of different objects but before we other
color let's open up a swatches menu and for my bus I'm going to utilize the
metal library of colors
you can double-click the live bucket tool in the tool bar to bring up these
options here you can choose the color strokes if you like as well as turn
offer on other settings - there is also something known as the live bucket
selection tool which has the shortcut of Shift + L on your keyboard this would
allow you to select multiple parts of a design at once by holding down shift and
clicking on your design you can then add one color to all selected objects from
the swatch library now there's one really cool and awesome feature that
helps us with gaps in our design sometimes when we draw or create a
complex vector design is going to be gaps like this here now if we try to use
the live bucket at all it isn't gonna fill the object because there's a gap so
what you can do is that with your entire design selected is to go up to object
Live Paint and then choose gap options
this neat function will search the entire design for specific size gaps and
as you can see here illustrator has found eight different gaps on my design
once his function has been used they gaps a bridge and then we can go ahead
and add a color using the light buddy at all the process of coloring your design
is really sped up using the light bucket tool and it's really really awesome for
such things like illustrations so if you're not video straighter or someone
who just works on complex designs like this bus for example here

Hello, I'm Michelle Park here with the latest weather update.
Today was cold enough for this season's first ice in Seoul.
Tomorrow's temperature will be slightly higher than today,... but it will still be about
3 to 7 degrees below the seasonal average under clear skies due to the high-pressure
front.
Beijing and Tokyo are expected to have similar weather to Jeju,... which is generally mild
and pleasant.
Tomorrow morning's temperatures are back above zero.
Seoul and most other regions should expect temperatures between 3 and 6 degrees Celsius,...
while Jeju is still on the warm side.
It's cold even during the day with the windchill.
Seoul reaching 13 degrees while Busan and Jeju rise to 16 and 17 degrees.
This wintery weather is expected to continue until Friday as the cold air moves in from
the northwest of the peninsula,... but afterward, it will slowly recover.

No Man's Sky Next 1.7 The ABYSS Patch Notes and Reaction - Duration: 11:01.
Hello its Ricardo and welcome back to no man's sky next update 1.70 hit today and
with that came the first bit of named content to be released since the
original next release of 1.5 yes folks the abyss this kind of sort of snuck up
on us last week there's going to be an update we've been working on it secretly
behind the scenes sort of thing came out from sure and Mary part of the team has
been working on this other part that thing we've been working on the fixes
and there was much speculation about what the abyss actually meant now a lot
of people turn around thought yes the abyss it's gonna be about the underwater
and it's gonna be speed spooky because it's green well it's definitely about
underwater hello Games also released a fantastic
trailer showcasing some of the parts of the abyss that are going to be released
so as previously reported there'll be a new XO craft as well called the nought
along you'll see a little bit later a more diverse aquatic flora and fauna
improved underwater base building with special modules and biodomes as well
that you can see out of like this one an upgraded jetpack as well optimized for
underwater use which to be fair is really needed because it was atrocious
before and the abyssal horror although sauce called it the abysmal
horror last week so it's the abyssal as in the abyss horror as well so exploring
the seabed can be lucrative as well I will yield some crystallized sulfur
living pearls or hey doll cause but avoid the territorial creatures that
lurk down there so there's gonna be a little bit of combat going on there with
it the creatures a little bit of stealth is gonna have to be involved

antigenic fish clams crab abyssal Horrors added fish and underwater
creature audio and they would have looked at character audio as well now
the user interface they disabled censorship in text chat between friends
and also added more options to the inventory transfer menu removed in a
semi UI data to improved load times and memory footprint always handy because
sometimes this game does drag and they fix cases where quick menu items were
incorrectly highlighted and fixed issues with the vehicle inventory transfers
the hazard icons for protection tech against secondary hazards fix the crash
caused by hooking the event tree while using the ship communicator clipping

awful lot of thought being put into this but also they're trying to address all

listening to their community which i think is totally admirable so facing
some buildings I did the chance for abandoned buildings ruins crashed
freighters and crash ships to spawn underwater great you grabbed my
populated underwater seascape they fixed an issue where players could fall
through storage room walls you don't want that do you and allowed storage
rooms be plays in a grid layout minor improvements to the indoor character
corrected the volume of NPC speech inside bases altered limits on building
some objects through the Quicksilver BOTS and added new underwater shelter
buildings and added over a dozen new base pads I went through a door knock by
odomes they've got clear tunnels you name it they've got it in there they've
really out thought about this now freighters ships in space they've
improved the spawning of frigates in multiplayer games when players are on
board them fixed issues where player ship would incorrectly appear in new
system after warping looked at issues where multiple fleet missions would
automatically be handed in simultaneously hmm I did the ability to
scan frigates and freighters using the analysis visor prevented death being
permanently active on frigate landing pads and many more again they fixed a
crash caused by the anomaly in certain systems fixed an issue where frigates
failed to reset their resource collection after giving the resources to
the player okay so there's the duplication fix work yes it does now
this is the large duplication fix the large refined you plication effects that
we've been using yes it still works so very handy when getting those new
modules for the end of autocratic part of things so back to the
fixes missions and progression added the dreams of the deep mission just the
abyss mission added a new story to underwater ruins added a number of new
aquatic substances goods and products improved the return marker on portals
the player has traveled through fix an issue where some missions would also
give identical reward improve the ability for missions to select locations
to send you from small clusters of buildings vehicles reduce the radius on
the vehicle gun to ensure particles port the correct point improve the color of
vehicles yes you can have a yellow submarine
the nautic on improved detail decals from the default vehicle allowing the
player to add them and disabled the find building ability in a vehicle's defaults
can creatures they fix and cases where bird would fly into the ground

N. Korea has recently been respecting the Northern Limit Line: Defense Ministry - Duration: 0:35.
apparently through its behavior Pyongyang has been acknowledging the
northern limit line that's the de-facto sea border between the two koreas and
something the North has long disputed the deputy spokesperson for seoul's
