Filming!
After 8 hours flight we finally reached USA
Breathing the air of freedom.
We had a talk about plasma physics with all smiling
customs officer
and here we are!
Wifi is not working here
There are some construction works going on...
And we'll try to hop on a train and get to our hotel
This is the ass of the Bull on Wall street
There are actually few people here, 'cause most of them
are in front of the Bull
There are hundreds, hundreds of tourists,
Chinese people and god knows who else
And in front of the Bull there is the Brave Girl
almost nobody is interested in
so you can shot a nice picture there
Of course all the best pics are on internet
and here you only look at what's there
*a song from a relatively well-known russian movie is playing*
From Brighton beach to Deribasovskaya
over Ocean there is a close call
between Brighton beach and Deribasovskaya
there's hardly any difference at all
We're currently at Brighton beach
and in fact it's a very nice area
it's very quiet here
and very few people
you can hear Russian speech everywhere
right there are some Russian bars and restaurants
like Volna (translated Wave)
and Tatiana
some local people told me
they'll definitely miscalculate your bill
and charge a lot of money
because Russian people don't cheat on each other
But in fact it's very quiet and nice here
There is an ocean
and a beach
and this wooden boardwalk
and
it's quite interesting here
but
it's hard to understand
hard to understand those people who moved here
long time ago
and they brought here
all the Russian culture and all the background
and all that
from which they actually had left USSR
They preserved all that very carefully here
I don't know...
a lot of people do not speak English and...
so many signboards in Russian
all that is very strange to me
this is the kind of migration I don't understand
a few words about American food
or how to live in New York without getting fat
the thing is
if you come into any American restaurant
you'll get a huge tear-your-face-apart burger
a lot of french fries
covered in ketchup and mustard
and god knows what else
so if you eat everything
you'll have hard time just getting out of your table
but there is a solution
simply don't go to American restaurants
in New York there are tons of
Itallian, Chinese, Korean
and all other kinds of places
from all around the world
just go there
take some rolls which are delicious here
or some noodles
or whatever dish you prefer
and you'll most definitely get something very tasty
and most probably they'll also cost you much less
then in any one of American places
or finally
you can go to Whole Foods
which is a very hip and pretentious market
where you get everything Bio and Organic
Just take some rolls there
and have a bite in the Central Park
cheers!
We came to Boston
it's Boston over there
people of Boston call the city Little New York
and in fact
they are eager to make jokes of New York
about... like...
they are all simpletons there ready to overpay for everything
here they are all smart guys
which is backed by statistics
an average wage in Boston is almost two times higher than in New York
Boston has completely different vibes
it's much cleaner, much smaller
the architecture is completely different
and it's very cozy
and
I think
living here is way
better than in New York for example
there are lots of great universities
the public transportation is quite comfortable
it's clean
and there are awesome cafés here
we've found a place where you can get a great Flat White
Flat White on East coast!
seriously?
and we've had some tea here
and it was Lipton tea
'cause all the good one was drowned long ago
that's it about Boston
tomorrow we'll see some universities
We are at MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology
and
we've got into campus area and walked around
this is for example
Plasma Science and Fusion Center
I have to admit MIT looks just awesome
you can walk in everywhere
all the rooms are open
some of labs have glass walls
so you can have a look inside
and see all the equipment they have
and how the classes are organised
everything is very open
and
makes you feel very enthusiastic
you think "hey, they really make science here"
contrary to most of Russian universities
when you enter those you think
"well. At least there must be a good education here"
so
I have to admit our universities have a lot to improve upon
- only if you have 40.000$/year
- yep, if you have 40k
-then you can study in MIT
