Eh, Alex here.
For a lot of us ah, once you hear this tone ah,
wah, bring back memories already.
That's how powerful the Nokia brand is.
So when Nokia is trying to make a comeback again ah, confirm must try.
The cheap Nokia 5 I try before ah, is not bad.
This time Nokia 8 is the first flagship phone,
so let's see the phone good or not.
The design of the phone ah, is nothing much one la.
It's solid like your typical Nokia phone,
but not as pretty as other flagship phones.
The thick front bezel and the capacitive buttons also don't look so modern.
And furthermore the water resistance only IP54,
have like don't have like that.
The screen ah thankfully, is still not bad.
The 5.3" QHD screen looks good even outdoors.
But ah, actually I think QHD a bit overkill also for this screen size,
like waste battery.
The fingerprint sensor is below the screen,
and actually is fast to read fingerprint one,
but don't know why the phone like slow to wake up.
A bit strange since the performance for the rest of the phone ah is quite solid one.
It's pretty much the standard high end specs you see around,
and for day to day use ah, is quite responsive one.
Nokia also say the phone got special cooling system,
and really, I play game for quite some time ah,
it never got very warm or what.
The battery life is also not bad despite the 3,090mAh battery and QHD screen.
I got like 5 hours screen on time on mostly data only,
but of course a bigger battery will still be better la.
But my favourite part for the new nokia phones ah,
is the software.
Other than two of their own apps ah,
and some additional features like the glance screen,
it's like stock android only.
Very clean one.
Even though it's still running android nougat ah,
but at least the security update is quite fast.
One of the selling point of the phone is the Zeiss branded dual 13MP cameras.
The second sensor is black and white one.
It's supposed to make the images look better la,
but actually not that much difference to me.
Can see help a bit sometimes la, but not always look good one.
Most of the time i just use either colour or the black and white camera only.
I know it's a bit stupid la, but the black and white camera actually quite fun.
Like a different feel to the image lor.
It's a bit like Huawei P10 like that.
Before we talk about the images,
there is this OZO audio recording that records the sound in 360 degrees,
and the image stabilisation looks okay also.
Then ah, even the front camera also can record 4K leh.
So if you like to take videos of yourself ah, this is not bad.
Even got this live broadcast feature also to make it easy for you.
Image quality for the front 13MP is okay also,
just have to hold the phone steady.
Then for the back camera image quality is decent one,
and I think really got potential.
The image processing looks quite nice.
But it's not as sharp looking la,
but that's because other camera normally sharpen their image a bit more.
Why I say got potential ah, is because the camera experience can be a lot better one.
The camera app is really quite jialat one.
Not only slow, but the layout of the app also not so nice.
And one time I try to change to front camera the app just hang and then crash.
Like they talk about the camera on this phone so much ah,
at least make sure the camera app is good la.
I just really hope they can fix this one with software update.
In the end ah, it's not a bad phone la,
considering the price is not as high as other flagship phones here in Singapore.
Some of the flaws can just close one eye.
Then the specs also not bad, and got clean android experience also.
So overall is okay one.
But the main problem ah,
is that for this type of near stock android phone,
not just OnePlus and Motorola doing anymore.
Now Google own Pixel line also damn good.
The Nokia 8 is an okay phone la,
but they need to do more if they want to convince people to choose their device.
Right now ah, not that convincing.
Thanks for watching my singlish Nokia 8 review.
There is an engrish version too in the link below if you want.
Bye bye.
