US to SHOOT DOWN missiles as North Korea threatens to 'detonate H-bomb' over Pacific

Daily Star Online understands the Pentagon is readying the exercise at their base in the Reagan Test Site in the Pacific. US forces will run the drill from between October 29 and November 4 – testing their capabilities to shoot down missiles.

Warnings are in place for pilots urging them to stay away from the network of atolls around the Marshall Islands. It comes as Kim Jong-un has promised to detonate a nuclear missile over the Pacific Ocean.

North Korea's top diplomat has promised the threatened the warning must be taken "literally".

"North Korea has always brought its words into action" Ri Yong Pil US missile defence forces tested interceptors over the range back in May following a North Korean missile launch.

At the time officials denied it was in reaction to Kim's actions, claiming it had been planned for "years".

Daily Star Online understands a similar test will be carried out this week – however it is unclear whether it is a direct response to North Korea.

The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a warning for the area telling planes to stay way. It warned "deadly force" may be used against pilots of breach airspace around the Kwajalein Atoll.

Tensions between North Korea and the US have spiked this year as US General James Mattis warned Kim of a massive military response if he crosses the line.

North Korea's so-called Juche Bird is considered the ultimate provocation against the US. The weapon would be a live-fire test of a nuclear warhead mounted on top of an ICBM.

Kim would fire the missile out in the Pacific before detonating it – in a move that could trigger World War 3.

US commanders have tested a number of missile interceptors in recent weeks off the coast of Scotland. Two versions of warship-based missiles where launched as US destroyers arrived for the Joint Warrior drill near Cape Wrath.

Daily Star Online has contacted the USs Missile Defense Agency for comment.

North Korea has not tested a missile since September 15 – despite fears from the CIA and South Korea. Experts have said the firing of the Juche Bird is possible if Kim are "pushed hard enough".

Daily Star Online previously revealed which side Russia would take if North Korea went to war with the US.
