So, what motivate you to come to the TRANS Conference?
So, I'm from Singapore
and Singapore
they are not whole a lot of digital healthcare even medical startups
so when I first heard about this TRANS Conference
and I just see the line-up speakers
and as well as the kind of like the salon where
there will be more like a few thousands of like digital healthcare
or MedTech startups from all over the world coming here to do a presentation
and not much more than just a booth
but also like the kind of salon like a presentation
so I just thought that
that could be a way like a really interesting way for me to
interact and touch base or just to
you know
spar and compare notes with these digital healthcare startups
Thank you very much
What is the most attractive part of TRANS Conference?
I think it's kind of like the people
I mean like the you guys are super helpful of my angel there
She is super helpful as well
but more than that
I think it's the kind of the network
I actually caught up brief some of my like colleagues in Singapore
and they're here as well presenting their own startups
I got to actually interact like
so even just the host himself
He is also the founder of a startup
means the doctor is same time which is something that really puts Taiwan on the map
Because in Singapore
there's a lot of talk about
You know, going like healthcare going digital
but all the doctors are pretty much stuck in their day job
and they just think about running a startup
but never gone on to do it
so I mean it takes a lot of like guts and lot of time as well
To have fun you know
a day job as a doctor and to run a startup like every time
Yeah, which is something that's kind of the most attractive part for the conference for me
Then, what motivate you to be an entrepreneur?
For us, for me like there wasn't really much of the choice
I have problem with authority and for me I relish the challenge
so for me being an entrepreneur is
Yes, it's doing something that solving a problem I'm passionate about
To actually make an impact on people's life
And like
and that can be done quite effectively through healthcare
But more than that
I can get to be kind of like a master of my own life, I guess
so, like and I do enjoy the journey because we've been around for about four years now
I'm not sure how long Vault Dragon gonna be around
Yeah, all that project would be in ten years over that
I would still be a helm running the company
but it's all about the journey
Yeah
Thank you
How to protect the data pharmacy of the patients while making digital health wide expand?
I think that's a really good question
But I think the answer to this question is pretty much
dependent on which jurisdiction that you're talking about
So like in Singapore
the patient's record belong to the patient
and the doctor's note belong to the doctor
But if you go to Malaysia
everything belongs to the doctor
so and if you go to parts of Southeast Asia
like Thailand or Vietnam where privacy law is pretty much non-existent
So there's not a lot of protection you want you can do it
And to be fair
the patients don't care
so yes
for them they just want to have access to healthcare
Access to cheap and good healthcare
Not so much about whether their data is gonna be shared
So this is kind of a first world problem
Yeah, in a way
but for us how Vault Dragon do it is we actually have a data governance office
where my colleagues on day-to-day basis actually refer to
you know
like the existing regulations laws
and I should compare with our workflow and constantly updating the way we do things
and in our contracts with the provider and patients
and we hold ourselves to a pretty stringent standard of HIPAA
the same way how they do it in the U.S
yeah
so that's how actually protect the data policy as to how to make it widespread
Yes, actually a business question
Thank you
What are the obstacles for you to develop Electronic Medical Records in Singapore?
Sure, I guess it is pretty easy to develop EMR system in Singapore
I think the difficult parts are to actually making the healthcare institution to adopt our system
and to actually make it make sure it's compliant with all the our laws
Yeah, so that those are the obstacles because you can be kind of the best software in the world
that it's really useful to the clients but if there is no adoption
there is no business
and there is no business, it's a funding and you are gonna be fail eventually
Pay passion can only take you so far
Thank you
And please say something to approach healthcare startups in Asia or students study in this field
Sure
Okay, so maybe I can say something about entrepreneurship in general
that I'll talk about healthcare
So the thing about starting a company
my advice would be DON'T
Because it's super hard
And like I couldn't tell you how hard is but you have to live yourself
But if you actually decided that this is the path they want to take
Then you have to have that fire in you
like fire in the belly or what I call actually
relent to be relentlessly resourceful
like what program Y Combinator acquainted
so never give up
I mean in the past four years I've seen a lot of startups come and go
and those the ones they stay other ones that actually never give up
and if always the founders always find a way to carry on the business
as to like for healthcare startups or like the healthcare vertical in general
I think you are in the right kind of business
because the barrier to entry for this kind of startups are really really high
Because of their regulatory compliance requirements
because of the domain knowledge it's required in running this business
so
I always say that to take care of the theory
or the academic part
or the domain knowledge part of the business but at the same time read up on some of the
I guess the business books or all like I don't go through some of the business courses
so you also can combine your business acumen together with your domain knowledge in healthcare
and they would make a really good combination
so lastly, would you mind to read the TRANS slogan to the camera?
so the slogan would be TRANS, Innovation in Asia, Better healthcare for all
How would you like me to do it?
Like really passionate or flat?
Doing you way
Doing my way?
Oh, Okay
so I get a few takes or just one?
I'm just playing with you
Okay
TRANS, Innovation in Asia, better healthcare for all.
