[ ♪ INTRO ]

You've probably experienced it before: you go to the grocery store or wherever, and for

some weird reason, coming back seems to take a lot less time than getting there did.

Weirdly less time.

Suspiciously less time.

What kind of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff is this?!

Well, good news.

You probably weren't abducted by aliens or anything like that.

And unless you got stuck in traffic or something on the way out, your route back wasn't actually

shorter.

You're just experiencing the return trip effect because your brain isn't all that

accurate at estimating how long things take.

This feeling that the way back is shorter is so universal that psychologists have been

trying to understand why it happens for decades.

Back in the 1950s, researchers proposed that it was due to familiarity, which would kind

of make sense.

They figured that on the way out, you're actively paying attention to all sorts of

new sights, so you really feel every second as it passes.

But on the way back, while you might note a few landmarks, you just aren't noticing

things the same way because you've seen it all before.

And because you're paying less attention, your ability to estimate time gets a little,

well, warped.

There's evidence that things like attention to the passage of time, the number of events

we experience during a period of time, and stuff like boredom and impatience can mess

up how you perceive time.

And familiarity could potentially affect any of those.

But… there's actually not much support for the idea that familiarity is to blame.

For example, one study found that as long as participants watching a video had the sense

that they were moving, just being told that the way back was the way back was enough to

make it feel shorter.

Which is bonkers.

And more studies have found that you don't actually perceive the time wrong in the moment.

When participants in a 2015 study were asked to tell the researchers every time they thought

three minutes had passed, they did equally well when watching videos of an outbound trip,

a return trip, and an alternate route of the same length.

But when reflecting on the experience afterwards, all of a sudden, they thought the return trip

video was shorter than the other two.

So, you know, hindsight not so 20/20.

This all suggests that the return trip effect has something to do with the stories we tell

ourselves after the fact, not how we perceive time.

Weird and cool as that is, though, it doesn't tell us why we make the error.

The most recent idea, which seems to be gaining traction among psychologists, is that it happens

because of a violation of expectations.

In general, we're pretty bad at estimating how long things will take.

Anyone who has ever waited until the last minute to write a paper or packed desperately

45 minutes before their flight takes off knows this very well.

So, like most things in our lives, we think the outbound trip will take less time than

it actually does.

And that makes it feel paiiiiiiiinfullllllyyyyyy looooooong.

Then, on the return trip, we adjust our expectations: it's gonna take forever and we just gotta

deal.

But the sheer misery of the outbound trip means that we overestimate the return trip.

We expect it to be extra paiiiiiiiinfullllllyyyyyy looooooong, and then we end up being pleasantly

surprised by how short it is.

But, of course, that's just a hypothesis — so a 2011 study published in Psychonomic

Bulletin & Review tested it and the familiarity hypothesis head-to-head.

They had 93 college freshmen bike to a forest for some get-to-know-you bonding games at

the beginning of the school year.

The students biked out one way and then came back either the same way or a new and different

way that took the same amount of time.

The return trip effect showed up regardless of which way they went back, so familiarity

didn't make the rides feel shorter.

But the effect was more extreme when the student thought the outbound trip took longer than

they'd expected it to.

In fact, the more off their expectations were at first, the worse they were at judging how

long it took to get back.

...Which is exactly what you'd expect if it was expectations, not familiarity, causing

the return effect.

And that fits nicely with the other studies.

Ultimately, it's more about how we think about and frame the return trip in our minds

than what's happening in the moment that matters.

And that also potentially answers another timeless question: why your daily commute

always feels so long.

You know every inch of your route to work all too well, so you're super good at predicting

how long it will take — and that means you're rarely pleasantly surprised.

Smash Bros Ultimate Leaked Characters - Duration: 3:32.

Welcome back friends, Im your host Johnny Rogers and we have some big news to cover

today.

Before we begin hit that thumbs up button if you clicked on this video because you saw

the word Leaks and let us know in the comments who your favorite Super Smash Bros character

is.

With that lets get to todays video of Super Smash Bros Ultimate Leaks

The Smash Bros series has had many leaks in the past and allegedly some of the unknown

characters in the ultimate game have been released.

The original image was posted by a snapchat user rumored to be Eric Bicard who prints

promotional material for companies like Nintendo.

Here is the original image Now lets dive in to the nitty gritty.

A Twitter account known as Leak Review have outlined most of what they know in regards

to the leaks and Ill try to pick out the most important pieces.

Along with that twitter account several other fans have put on their detective hats to decipher

what we see in the leaks.

We believe this leak couldnt have been faked or if it was someone would have had to have

a ton of time on their hands.

To just fit in the new characters they would have to rearrange the previous photo, add

them in and then recreate a new background from scratch.

Plus youll notice with the promo is guidelines for printing which suggests this was a real

order from Nintendo.

This photo doesnt just show us what promo for them looks like, but oddly features a

newly rendered Grinch character in the bottom right of the photo.

Its like an easter egg inside of a leak.

Plus on the work papers we can see an area thats been scribbled out where the posters

name was Eric may have opened a can of worms he never

expected by doing this, because people on 4 Chan soon found his LinkedIn page which

confirms that he works in a print shop closely linked to a number of companies including

Bandai Namco.

It gets deeper - Back in September a user on 4Chan posted leaks of new characters supposedly

coming to us for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Most users called them out as a fake, but with this new image we can actually pick out

some of these characters using this image that was posted following the leak.

As you can see Shadow is confirmed, Ken is confirmed, Geno is confirmed and even though

the other characters arent explicitly pointed out in the leaks it doesnt necessarily mean

they wont be in the game.

The Pokemon character Incineroar and Celica are both property of Nintendo so they could

possibly be downloadable characters.

As for Minecraft Steve he could possibly be in the game too.

The developers of the game have even cited their love for minecraft in interviews following

the confirmation of Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Along with the characters I mentioned well get to see Banjo Kazooie, Isaac, Mach Rider

and Chorus Kids.

The final confirmation we have of this leak loops back to that Grinch image we had seen

earlier.

The newly rendered grinch reaks of promotional banners that point to this work needing to

be complete by December.

Coincidentally Super Smash Bros Ultimate will be released December 7th, 2018.

It's up to you if you wanna improve yourself, just do it and then

soon you will get over it and you will get use to it

There is another interesting thing about public

because obviously we've done our research on youtube.

Someone will laugh, someone will be angry

So far we had positive impact.

whenever people met us and we met them we had a really good, we engaged.

We started to comunicate as you can see from our previous video

People were interested to be in our vlog so,

It's actually great thing to see that more and more people they are not scared of camera

That they don't think: Oh does my hair look alright, is my face fine, oh I have an extra spot

don't care about is you know

This is just a small thing. There are more

important things in this life to be worried about.

So if you ask us if people are engaging? Yes they are and we have a positive impact

And also when people see camera pointing on someone especially if it's DSLR camera like this

They are curious if we are famous and they are checking like

Oh do we know them? Do i know who they are?

On the cheese festival? Yeah.

Owner of the

pizza van just came over to us, just because he saw the camera

and he came over to us and asked us: did you like the pizza? Just to make sure it's all ok.

So we won't leave a bad review about him

Barbara Kavovit Says She and Luann de Lesseps Have Been 'Friends Forever' amid RHONY Rumors - News t - Duration: 3:33.

 Barbara Kavovit and the ladies of The Real Housewives of New York go way back.  Last month, sources told PEOPLE that Kavovit had joined the hit Bravo reality show for its upcoming eleventh season

And while the construction mogul can't comment on the casting news, she says she's longtime friends with one of the franchise's original Housewives

 "I love hanging out with my friend Luann [de Lesseps] — we go way back," she tells PEOPLE

"I guess people are talking about how we've been seen together lately, but we've been friends forever

We met when our sons were very little and have been friends ever since."  Along with de Lesseps, Kavovit will join Ramona Singer, Bethenny Frankel, Sonja Morgan, Dorinda Medley and Tinsley Mortimer on the show

 Kavovit has been photographed filming with the Housewives at a few events, including Frankel's SkinnyGirl Jeans launch, where she danced alongside Frankel, Morgan and de Lesseps

In October, she was spotted in the background of Frankel's social media posts during a night in the Berkshires

 And Kavovit says she has no problem hanging out with women who are known to have strong personalities and opinions

 "I would say I'm definitely a boss," Kavovit says. "I would say that women and men are afraid of me in some aspects

I don't see myself as being intimidating, but I'm told I am."  An entrepreneur, Kavovit spent years leading Anchor Construction, one of the largest female-owned general contracting companies

She's currently CEO and founder of another construction company, Evergreen Construction, which offers top-to-bottom construction management services to clients in the Big Apple

 "If you attack something and are passionate, you'll eventually conquer it," she says of her career

"I'm still conquering it. Every day is a fight, but I have the drive to keep going

You have to be confident and relentless."  Under the name Barbara K, Kavovit has also launchedDIYVA, a nationally distributed line of tools marketed toward women, and written two books

She has a third in the works: a novel about a young woman who wants to build the tallest skyscraper in New York City

 Kavovit says she wants to encourage young women to break into her still-male-dominated field and beyond

 "In this business, I learned that you have to be five times better than the male counterpart to be considered equal," she says

"My goal with young women is always to inspire them. I think this industry is desperate for women
