Hello everybody and welcome to this new video.
This new video is mainly for newcomers, the so-called "newbies", because they are 360° terms.
Surely many people already know these terms, who is already in the 360 world and who already shoots with 360 cams already knows these terms.
But it may be useful for the newcomers to know this terminology, these few terms whose meaning I will explain to you today,
to better understand the concepts, to take another step forward in the 360 world.
This is the basic terminology of the 360 world, in the sense that these terms are used everywhere during the creation and editing of 360 files
and all 360 photographers must know this terminology, because if you do not know these terms, you're not a true 360 photographer.
Because these are really the foundations and I do it for the new creators, the new 360 creators.
And so let's start. First of all, one of the fundamental things is STITCHING.
What is stitching? Basically it's the union of the photos captured by each sensor.
A 360 camera, like this one, has a sensor on one side and one on the other.
Obviously there are also cams with 4/6 sensors and so on.
Each sensor captures a circular photo and stitching is the union of these two photos which creates a spherical photo.
Two other terms derive from STITCHING, which are STITCHING LINE and EQUIRECTANGULAR.
Equirectangular is the projection of a spherical image on a two-dimensional plane.
In few words, on a rectangle with a 2:1 ratio we see the whole spherical image that is obtained through stitching.
The stitching line is the union line of the images that are used to create the spherical photo.
Let's say to have taken pics with this cam. There are two circular photos and in the part where these two photos are united, there is the stitching line.
This line can be visible or not visible. Usually, with good cams, you do not see it,
but it can be more visible especially when a sensor is much more enlightened than the other or in particular low light conditions.
The stitching line will be seen 100% of the times if you use a tripod to take the picture and if the sensors of the camera capture at the bottom, at a point called NADIR.
The nadir is the lowest point regarding the horizon of the photo and is usually the point where the camera is attached to the tripod.
While the nadir is at the bottom, opposite to it, in the highest point regarding the horizon, there is the ZENIT.
And this is the point that is usually considered when a camera is attached on a drone
and the photos are taken with a drone, because precisely, the top part will be occupied by the drone.
Both the nadir and the zenith are usually edited to eliminate the tripod or the drone.
You are NOT a true photographer if you do not remove the tripod from your photo.
But for those who do not want to edit, it's possible to cover both the nadir and the zenith with a logo, which is the simplest thing.
However, if you do the editing and do not use the 360° view and if you don't pay a lot of attention, you can occur in the CAT BUTT effect.
So if you do not want to do editing well, please put a logo on it because the Cat Butt effect is really ugly to see and unprofessional.
If instead you record a 360 video and then you want to bring it on a platform that does not support 360° videos, you can do the REFRAME.
Making the reframe of the means turning the video from 360 to flat, choosing the frame that the camera must have second by second.
Obviously the framing depends on the position of the camera, so eventually you can move to the right, left, up and down of the camera.
This is a way to get a derivative from a 360 video in a flat format that you can upload anywhere.
You can also reframe a photo getting a screenshot or you can create a flat video from a 360 photo.
And of course, if you record a video, you also record audio and here is the concept of PANORAMIC SOUND or SPATIAL AUDIO.
Not all the cams have it. You need at least two microphones to make panoramic sound and it is a concept that is used to describe directional sound.
In the sense that, putting a camera on this side, I'm talking to the right of the cam, when I go to review the video, I'll hear the sound coming from this way.
Obviously you need headphones or a suitable sound system, a 5.1 for example. And this is the panoramic sound.
Ok, for this video is enough. I hope I have been helpful, these were really the basic concepts regarding the creation of 360 content.
I hope I have been useful for the new creators, for those who are entering this 360 world.
Write me in the comments if you want to know some other term, so maybe I'll do a video on it, or I'll answer you directly in the comments.
Go to alchimistablog.com if you want to read some guide, if you want to get informed about some cams.
Thanks for watching the video, see you at the next.
