Autumn Skin Dryness and Cutaneous Pruritus for the Elderly - Duration: 3:55.
When you see this in my hand,
you will know I am going to do next.
When I see the itch scratcher,
I remember the program Red Sunset
which I hosted before.
I interviewed a lot of old people.
They all have the same annoyance.
In autumn, their skins itch very much.
They scratch, but it doesn`t work.
Some even scratched to blood.
They don`t know how to ease the symptom.
Many old people use itch scratcher
when it itches.
It can stimulate the skin
and make it hurt
so as to cover up the itch.
But it can ease the itch for a short period of time.
After it doesn`t hurt,
it iches again,
forming the vicious circle of itching,
scratching, itching, scratching. Right.
So, the old people
cannot do without itch scratchers.
In fact, when the skin itches,
old people should not scratch,

For diabetes patients,

She was a 70-year-old diabetes patient.
Her blood sugar was well controlled.
She came to see me,
as cutaneous pruritus all over her body
for three months---
She noted that
her skin itched repeatedly
in the past three months without any inducement.
When it itched she had to scratch it
until it bled. She felt terrible.
Then, she went to a hospital,
and got some anti anaphylaxis medicines such as Clarityne.
But it didn`t work.
I found that her skin was very dry,
and there was a lot of
blood scabs
on her skin, long and thin scabs.
In addition,
her tongue was darkish red
without coating.
There was a lot of cracks on her tongue.
I treated her with traditional Chinese medicine for three months
and then itch on her trunk stopped,
but her limbs still itched.
Then, she used TCM for another three months,
and the near-end of her limbs
became normal,
but the far-end still itched.
After another three months` treatment with tcm,
her cutaneous pruritus disappeared totally.
Thus, she used nine months.
Nine months. Yes.
It took none months to cure
her pruritus caused by
blood insufficiency and dry environment.
The prescription is
Jingfang Four Material Soup.
It is made of
four-material soap and two medical materials.
One is nepeta cataria (Jing Jie).
The other is
saposhnikovia divaricata (Fang Feng).
Everybody know that four-material soap
is a famous prescription for
thousands of years
that can invigorate blood circulation.
It is quite suitable for the old people with insufficient blood.
According to Chinese medicine theory,
blood insufficiency leads to body wind,
and too much body wind leads to dryness.
In this sense, in clinic practice,
in addition to improving blood functions,
we usually add two medical materials
that can eliminate body wind. nepeta cataria and saposhnikovia divaricata.
Jingfang Four-material Soap
mentioned by Director Liu is actually
a medical prescription,
if you have such symptoms,
you must go to see doctor.

I don't know if you realised what is going on here, and I surely did not when I flipped
this rock.
These are two separate colonies of Crematogaster ants living under the exact same rock.
And when I flipped it, they started to intimidate and fight.
Now, I didn't meant to do that, but I think putting the rock back in place immediatly
would have only made it worse
So I decided to wait a few minutes for the opponents to stop fighting and took these
images.
You can see that the sting is flattened and enlarged at the tip, allowing these ants to
keep a droplet of venom at the end of their abdomen.
They use it as a strong reppelent against other ant species.
They very rarely drop it on the cuticle of other ants.
But if they do, the aldehydes and acetic acids contained in the venom can cause serious damages
or even kill the other ant.
In this case, it is unlikely that it will kill them, since Crematogaster ants have been
shown to be resistant to their own venom.
So you may wonder how these ants can keep such dangerous compounds in them.
Well, they have two fully separated glands that produce non toxic molecules, but when
they mix these compounds in their sting, they react with each other and produce the toxic
ones.
So, only the sting contains the toxic venom, and the ant does not have to get in contact
with it.
