Do you see my hair there ? It's very important. People never see my hair. I always have my hair tied up.
Yes, my name is Jessica Vetter.
I'm about thirty years old and some dust and some bananas.
Foam athlete at CrossFit Aubagne, I hold a CrossFit box in Aubagne, it's about 20 minutes from Marseille.
discovered Fitness at 25
I have 17 years of Gymnastics at a federal level so I did a lot of competitions
I was a Gym teacher so I have my degrees in Gymnastic.
Basically, I get up in the morning
I take one hour to have breakfast
I go to the gym, I arrive between 9am and 9.30am
I coach and if I have no coaching planned, I train
Then I work between 12 and 2 hours
so I coach too, I have specific trainings for each day and initiation sessions with the new, the fundamentals.
Then I take a break, I eat
I have 1 and 2 hours to work and take care of the gym
meaning all the contracts, the accounts, paperworks and also the cleaning, shopping...
the 2nd training of the day is around 4 p.m
and after I start the evening classes from 5.30 pm to 9 p.m.
Then my day ends, I go home.
I cook my chicken, my beans, my chocolate and I take a sit in front of the TV, watching « les Marseillais » a french reality TV show.
WELCOME TO CROSSFIT AUBAGNE
I have a very big appartement, finally bigger than the last one in Paris.
Today they have a conditioning session, they have a very long WOD that lasts 40 minutes.
It's just cardio exercises and so every two minutes they have to get that, that and that.
Do you need prerequisites for crossfit ?
Not exactly because we sell crossfit as something reachable for everyone
that is to say, Pierre, Paul, Jacques can come and practice it ;
someone very young, or older
someone who has never played sport before, my friends, my grandparent can do it
even people with a reduced mobility, people with physical problems or other pathologies.
The idea is that each training must be adapted to each person
that's the most important point of Crossfit, and that's why it works so well.
I don't really like the word « athlete », I am a « crossfitter » just like a boy would be called a « crossfitter »
and when I started to practice I couldn't avoid this stronger taste for challenge, the desire to surpass yourself in group trainings
where you must not search for « being better than the person next to you » but at the same time, as a gymnast and as a competitor, that was what I wanted…
And Automatically I wanted to make competitions
the problem was that from the moment you start thinking that way you are screwed
What about the place of the Woman as a crossfitter or a coach ?
When you look at the elite, I would say that in general, women are better than men.
They always do unexpected things.
They definitely are in their place, they have credibility and it's beautiful.
The same movements, the same distances, the same amount of time, the same amount of repetitions, the same recovery time, we are identical.
Ah, but I know why we have an important place.
Because we are half naked, we are wearing only a sports bra and shorts.
Of course it's part of it, it's the part where "I assume who I am, what I do, how I am, how my body is".
I fully embrace it and I don't care if this is a problem to some people
I feel good about every part of myself
and it's not at 60 years old that I'm going to put on shorts and sports bras it's now and I'm doing it.
I do what I want and I would like everyone to do the same.
It's true that I tend to speak a lot about it and as I say it has to be supervised
I discovered CrossFit through my patients themselves injured by CrossFit, there are too many people something is wrong
Aches, often, and backs.
How to warn wounds? is it necessary to stretch?
Work the recovery period well, I in fact see that we tend to set aside recovery.
Work mobility and stretching
You talk about it a lot but unfortunately it's not done enough.
The sessions are so intense and regular when you enter the game and suddenly the body, the muscles lose their elasticity.
Everyone is set loose in the arena and sometimes it's not very well corrected.
The most common injuries are to the back.
When you say Backs, you speak about Sciatics ?
Yes it's that, Sciatics or Lumbago
Is it bad postures ?
Yes it's a reason
You must make technique key. First technique.
Toilet paper is very important, it must be cheap but of good enough quality, we do not want there to be damage to the box
The difference between aquatic cardio and terrestrial cardio is learning how to control your breathing
We are not breathing as we do on land, so it's jerky, in the water even when I'm tired I can not inhale correctly.
We are in a slow and gradual exhale and a brief and rapid inhale.
If we take a CrossFit reference
the butterfly tractions for example are the opposite of what we propose
here we seek the strict traction
we seek maximum alignment, engaging the latissimus dorsi and making the shoulder go as high as possible.
For overland sportsmen, it is the breathing being able to to channel ones breathing
When you do HITT for example, you go to 2000, you can not go to 2000 on this
first you need to work, it's like before passing a WOD in CrossFit it is first necessary first to acquire the technical bases
It's great to be able to do pull-ups, snatch, they're habits she created.
Here you take her out of her comfort zone. It is not a comfort zone at home, she has a quite a heavy muscular load.
Look what I have, I am allowed a lot of toys, fins anyway...
We have a mobility class, but it's really cold in there, so I warm them up first
I ask them to activate their cardiovascular system and then we'll be able to move, stretch.
Can you at least pretend to be happy ...
My next goals: I would like to be in shape by February, that's the open season for Crossfitters
I would really like to be in shape and be in the top 100
complete a triathlon.
