Did Ancient Troy really exist? - Einav Zamir Dembin - Duration: 4:38.

When Homer's Iliad was first written down in the 8th century BCE,

the story of the Trojan war was already an old one.

From existing oral tradition,

audiences knew the tales of the long siege,

the epic duels outside the city walls,

and the cunning trick that finally won the war.

In the end, the magnificent city was burned to the ground,

never to rise again.

But had it ever existed?

By the time the field of archaeology began to take shape in the 19th century,

many were skeptical, considering the epic to be pure fiction,

a founding myth imagining a bygone heroic era.

But some scholars believed

that behind the superhuman feats and divine miracles

there must have been a grain of historical truth -

a war that was really fought,

and a place where it happened.

Frank Calvert was one such believer.

He had spent his youth traveling and learning about ancient civilizations

before accompanying his brother Frederick

on a diplomatic mission to the northwest Anatolian region of Çanakkale.

It was here that Homer described the Greek encampment

at the mouth of the Scamander river.

And it was here that fate brought Frank into contact

with a journalist and geologist named Charles Maclaren.

Locals and travelers had long speculated

that Troy might've stood on one of the surrounding hilltops.

But Maclaren had been one of the first

to publish a detailed topographical study of the area.

He believed he had found the site –

a 32-meter mound known by the name Hisarlık,

derived from the Turkish word for "fortress."

Soon after meeting with him in 1847,

the Calverts bought 2,000 acres of farmland

that included part of the hill.

Before they could explore any further,

the Crimean War broke out

and forestalled their archaeological ambitions for several years.

After the war's end,

Frank Calvert began to survey the site,

but lacked the funds for a full excavation.

This was where the wealthy German businessman

and amateur archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann came in.

At Calvert's invitation,

Schliemann visited the grounds in 1868, and decided to excavate.

Eager to find the ancient city,

Schliemann tore massive trenches all the way to the base of the hill.

There, he uncovered a hoard of precious artifacts,

jewelry,

and metalwork,

including two diadems and a copper shield.

Schliemann took full credit for the discovery,

announcing that he had found Troy

and the treasure of its king Priam.

But the real treasure was elsewhere.

When later archaeologists studied the site,

they realized that the mound consisted of no less than nine cities,

each built atop the ruins of the last.

The layer Schliemann had uncovered dated back to the Mycenaean Age,

more than 1,000 years too early for Homer.

But inside the mound was indeed evidence

for a city that had thrived during the Bronze Age,

with charred stone,

broken arrowheads,

and damaged human skeletons suggesting a violent end.

It was Troy VII, contained in the middle layers

and now ravaged for a second time by Schliemann's careless excavation.

The settlement, spanning some 200,000 square meters

and home to as many as 10,000 people,

thrived until around 1180 BCE.

Its position at the southern entrance of the Dardanelles strait

would've made a formidable strategic location for both defense and trade.

Most importantly, there are the remains of a massive fortification wall –

perhaps the very same one

from which Priam and Hector once watched the Greeks approach.

Of course, it's difficult to be certain

that these ruins are the true remains of ancient Troy,

and scholars still dispute

whether the Trojan War as described by Homer ever happened.

Yet the evidence is strong enough

that UNESCO has labelled Hisarlık the archeological site of Troy.

Regardless of its identity,

thanks to persistence,

a bit of faith,

and a lot of research,

archaeologists are bringing the long-buried secrets

of an ancient, lost city to light.

5 WWE Superstars Who Just Can not Stand Each Other Till Date - Duration: 4:36.

We are all pretty aware of the fact that the WWE is one scripted show and yet we yell,

scream and go crazy at the idea of our favorite wrestler beating the crap out of his opponent.

Them on screen rivals are sometimes, very good friends in real life! Still, it happens

when two superstars hustling for the same championship in the same ring turn against

each other for real! We all want to have the golden fruit called

success and when two people want the same thing, it is quite obvious that they end up

hating each other from the core of their heart, to an extent that the phrase 'burying the

hatchet' seems alien to them! Let's check out 5 most famous rivalries of WWE superstars

who still hate the very sight of each other for one reason or another!

5). Stephanie McMahon and Chyna

From the time Stephanie stole Chyna's Hunter till today, there's been that ill feeling

between the two powerful ladies of the sports entertainment. It all started when Triple

H ended his relationship with Chyna to be with Stephanie, which resulted in Chyna's

downfall, both personally and professionally. While the power couple climbed to the stairs

of massive success and became The Authority at Monday night RAW and Smack Down, Chyna's

career ended immediately after Triple H left her heart broken!

The fact that she has not made any appearance again at the WWE, like other stars from the

Attitude Era and still have not found her much deserved place in the Hall of Fame makes

it crystal clear that Stephanie still do not want Chyna near or around her territory.

4). Alberto Del Rio and Sincara The two WWE stars hail from Mexico but that

do not affect the hatred they have for each other! Sin Cara even pulled out a gun once

and threatened to kill Del Rio. Del Rio,  on the other hand, warned Sin Cara on twitter

that he will beat him up for sure! It is rumored that Sin Cara left AAA, a top Mexican promotion,

because he could not co-exist with Del Rio. Their backstage feud is known to everyone

who has been a part of the WWE and even though they were working together for the WWE and

seemed to have let go of their rivalry, the differences between the Mexican superstars

still exist. 3). CM Punk and The Ryback

Let's go back to the time when John Cena was replaced by CM Punk in the Hell in a Cell

match against The Ryback, where the former defeated the latter and that was the beginning

of a major feud between Punk and the Big Guy.  The popular gorilla table bump spot incident

gave further heat to the feud when Ryback was only supposed to put CM through the table,

instead he did not direct the same to Punk and caused him a nasty bump that led him to

get immediate medical attention. Both wrestlers lashed out at each other on social media after

Punk's retirement from the WWE. Punk called the Ryback, a "steroid guy"

and claimed that he intentionally hurts his opponent(referring to the table incident)

while the Ryback took the feud to twitter calling Punk an insecure person, indirectly.

However, the matter is now at rest but both stars continue to despise each other.

2). Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan Their feud began from the time when after

winning the world title at WrestleMania  IX, Hogan was supposed to lose his title to

Bret Hart in the SummerSlam, but Hogan plainly refused to do so which led to a prolonged

tension between the mega stars! Bret often called him a 'dirtbag' and

similar terms while Hogan always refused to comment about Bret's hatred for him saying

that he has love for him. Well, Hart's social media upload about Hogan, where he called

him "the roid king", with one uncomplimentary picture should have changed the latter's

opinion but we believe Hogan is one heck of a strong man!

1). CM Punk and Triple H From his debut till the time Punk walked out

of the WWE, the boiling rumor remained the same, that is, Triple H had a problem with

CM Punk having the potential to be one of the hottest WWE superstars of all time.

With their sharp promos against each other, the rumor seemed to be true, and it was only

when the story line involving Kevin Nash and Triple H came in question that Punk refused

to work with Triple H at the time of WrestleMania XXX and walked away.

It was only a while later that he received his termination from the authority, on the

day of his wedding with A.J Lee, to be specific.

How Africa is Becoming China's China - Duration: 10:48.

Political alliances manifest themselves here—on the voting floor of the United Nations General

Assembly in New York, New York.

In this room countries impose legislation that carries weight worldwide and so what

happens in this room is the physical materialization of the world's politics.

47 years ago, exactly that happened when one of the General Assembly's most consequential

votes occurred.

China, you see, essentially has two governments.

There's the Republic of China which used to control the mainland and Taiwan but today

only administers Taiwan and there's the People's Republic of China which controls

the mainland.

Both claim to be the rightful governments of all of the Chinese territory—both Taiwan

and the mainland—and so back in 1971 the United Nations had to decide which government

would represent China.

Essent ially, the question was which government was the rightful leader of the territory as

there could only be one in the United Nations.

The US was the main superpower opposing the People's Republic representing China as

it had a strong political and military alliance with the Republic of China government and

so the vote was essentially the US' sphere of influence versus the world.

Among the 35 countries that voted against the People's Republic were much of Africa—the

Central African Republic, Chad, Gabon, Liberia, Niger, South Africa, and plenty of others

that sided with the US.

Despite the US's efforts, the resolution ended up passing and the representative government

for China in the UN was switched to the People's Republic of China but what's interesting

about this is not the result, it's who voted against the People's Republic.

Since that 1971 vote, you see, something has changed.

In 2007, the UN general assembly met once again to vote on whether to adopt a resolution

condemning the human rights situation in North Korea.

As one of North Korea's strongest allies, this vote was China and its sphere of influence

versus the world.

In this vote, though, only Burundi, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia,

Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, and Tanzania voted against China.

All the 43 other African countries either abstained or voted no along with China because

in the forty years between those votes, political ties changed.

Africa no longer bows to the US.

Much of the continent is now economically and politically aligned with the world's

fastest emerging superpower—China.

The simple answer for why this is is because China has pumped huge amounts of money into

the continent of Africa.

They're buying allies.

For example, China built a $3.2 billion railway in Kenya trekking the 300 miles from Nairobi,

the capitol, to Mombassa, the second largest city and primary port, in 4 hours and 30 minutes.

That's faster than what the fastest train in the US, the Acela Express, takes to travel

the equivalent distance from Philadelphia to Boston.

China also built a $526 million dam in Guinea which helped push the country from having

constant power shortages to making more energy than it needs and selling the extra capacity

to its neighbors.

China also built a $475 million light rail system in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the first

of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa, designed as a way to combat the capital's crippling

traffic.

These are only a sampling.

There are literally hundreds of others of Chinese infrastructure projects in Africa

each year.

All across the continent, China is playing a part in projects both big and small that

are transforming African economies.

It's important to note that these projects are not, though, free.

Each of these three were financed by loans granted by China's state-owned and controlled

Export-Import bank and these loans do, of course, need to be paid back by the countries

granted them.

Large African infrastructure projects, though, would be viewed as risky by any traditional

bank and would therefore struggle to get financed but China's export-import bank doesn't

care.

Assuming cooperation between the Chinese and African countries' governments, this bank

will give low-interest or no-interest loans to African countries so they can build these

trains or dams or other projects.

These loans are therefore considered a form of foreign aid since China doesn't expect

to get all their money back, at least adjusted for inflation, since they're not charging

much interest and there's a high risk of default.

Of course China isn't just financing these projects out of kindness.

For each of them there's a political goal behind it.

You see, the country of China is running out of growth potential.

Its era of double digit year over year GDP growth is over as it makes the shift from

industrializing to industrialized.

Africa, meanwhile, is one of the least developed areas of the world and a lack of development

actually makes fast growth easy.

The first step of economic development for many countries is natural resource exploitation.

Nearly every country has some level of natural resources that they can use to kickstart growth

but first they need to have enough money to build the infrastructure and take the steps

needed to gather these natural resources.

As everyone knows, it takes money to make money and China has money.

By investing in African mining and farming, China can profit off of Africa's growth

and fuel the business back in China that require minerals and food, but in addition to it serving

as a source of natural resources, Africa has another resource—labor.

It might seem strange that China, the country that the world uses for low-cost manufacturing,

is looking for a labor source elsewhere but that is exactly what it's doing.

China is a victim of its own success.

The economic development that its manufacturing industry brought pushed a large segment of

its population into the middle class which raised labor costs country-wide.

It's not bad news, China as a country has shifted from having a low-skilled to a medium-skilled

workforce as their education level has improved, but for the lowest cost, lowest skilled manufacturing

work, the country of China is no longer competitive.

Therefore, Chinese manufacturing firms are setting up their own operations in Africa—one

of the cheapest and lowest skilled labor markets in the world.

Today, China is now the largest trading partner with Africa as a whole.

Despite China being a vastly larger country than the US in population, the US and China

both trade a similar value of goods worldwide each year.

In this case, though, whereas $48 billion worth off goods were exchanged between the

US and Africa in 2016, China traded $128 billion worth of goods—nearly three times as much.

Now, the whole idea of setting up a structure of power over other less developed states

in order to gather resources and use their labor force might sound familiar because that's

largely what colonialism was.

The motives behind European powers expanding their territory to less developed nations

in the 15th through 20th centuries were remarkably similar to the motivations behind China's

growing economic influence in the developing world today.

Despite what some may say, there is empirical evidence that China has been using these infrastructure

investments to affect worldwide politics.

It's been found that if an African country recognizes Taiwan as a country they receive,

on average, 2.7 fewer Chinese infrastructure projects within their borders each year.

Conversely, if an African country votes overwhelmingly along with China in the United Nations General

Assembly, they receive 1.8 more infrastructure projects per year.

Considering that the General Assembly is an equal representative body where each country

gets one vote no matter if they have a million residents or a billion, China's getting

a lot of influence for, in the grand scheme of things, not a lot of money.

China touts the fact that their foreign investment and aid is "no strings attached."

Unlike other institutions that give low or no-interest loans to developing countries

like the International Monetary Fund or World Bank, China give loans with no requirements

on factors like respect of human rights or democratic elections.

Of course, this data linking infrastructure investment with political leanings shows that

there are indeed hidden strings that require benefit for China rather than benefit for

the receiving country.

Western powers are understandably concerned about this shift in power dynamics towards

a country with vastly different ideals.

In 2017, China entered a select club as it opened a military base in Djibouti.

While four other countries have bases in Djibouti—France, Italy, Japan, and the US—this base was unique

as it was China's first base abroad and those by themselves, military bases abroad,

are unique.

Only 15 of the world's most developed and militarily powerful countries worldwide have

them and now China is one of them.

Although, western powers might be worried for the wrong reasons.

The government of China is clearly putting a lot of focus and money into Africa but not

as much as you'd think based off the result they're getting—vast amounts of influence

over a whole continent.

There are two key numbers to look at.

In 2015, China loaned just $12 billion to African countries.

In the same year, the country invested a mere $3 billion in the continent.

That's just not much but the reason China is gaining this enormous influence over the

continent is because the Chinese government no longer has to force this phenomenon.

Private Chinese industry is taking hold of Africa.

Of the estimated 10,000 Chinese businesses in Africa, 90% of them are privately owned

rather than one of the numerous Chinese state-run companies.

The Chinese companies in Africa are actually making money—some substantially so.

The Chinese government certainly has provided a considerable push to the industrialization

of Africa but now that that's done, economic forces are moving the initiative further forward.

Chinese small business is gripping the continent.

Much of the western world is ignoring the prospects of the continent—ignoring that

business in Africa can now be as profitable as business in China was when its period of

tremendous growth began.

Right now, Africa is establishing itself as the source of labor and resources for China

and so, until the west pays attention, Africa will continue inching forward on its path

towards becoming China's China.

One of the techniques used to predict the GDP or GDP growth of a country, which is of

course used to decide which country to invest in, is machine learning.

For example, here's what a machine learning model predicted a country's GDP would be

over three months and here's what it actually was.

It forecasted the country's GDP far better than humans did.

The science behind predictions like this is complex but fascinating.

If you want to learn how it works, though, the best place to do so is brilliant.org.

How to Use a Glass Dip Pen & How to Draw a Hibiscus - Duration: 3:52.

Hello my friends and welcome to another Tuesday of tutorial!

I am Leonardo Pereznieto and today we will draw Hibiscus flowers

with this strange and beautiful glass dip pen.

Each is hand-made and therefore unique, however, I got it very inexpensive

from Amazon, under 10 dollars, and we will use this Indian or Chinese

red ink.

You simply need to dip the part with the grooves in the ink, and then you

can write or draw with it.

Like so.

We begin with the petals.

Hibiscus have five petals.

Wow, this draws smoother than what I thought.

Since it is glass I thought it would be a little scratchy but it isn't…

pretty smooth.

Very good!

The pistils,

and let's draw another one back here.

We can give some texture, some color, and shade at the same time by making lines.

Wow, this is really enjoyable!

I never thought it would feel this good!

These pens can be pretty expensive like even up to 150 dollars, but as I said

some go pretty inexpensive.

I leave you the link for this one, and all the materials I used, in the description

bellow the video.

In some cases these petals are darker toward the center

and very light at the edges.

Additionally by the center they may catch more shadow,

so we go over those areas again and more tightly.

However just having this color makes it in monotone, and I would

like it to be even darker at the center, so I mixed some of this ink

with a tiny bit of blue to make it darker and use it

for the center of the petals

and toward the center of the flowers.

That's looking better, don't you think?

It gives it a little bit more volume.

Now since I don't have a green Indian ink to hand, I will try out this fountain pen ink.

And with this we do the leaves and the stem.

It actually works perfectly!

It feels very smooth too.

I was a little bit concerned because I read that since it is of a different viscosity

maybe it wouldn't work as well.

Ok good!

But I want the center of the flowers much darker, so I use the blue to go

over them.

Since this ink is transparent, the blue over the red looks like a very dark purple. And we

add some more red

for intensity!

Nice!

To clean the pen between colors it is super easy, you just rinse it

for a second and then wipe it dry

and dip it on the new color.

Very good!

¡Excelente!

Let´s just do this final last petal, and shade it, the last touches,

and its ready!

If you enjoyed this video please give it a LIKE! share it to your friends

and subscribe to Fine Art-Tips.

And I will see you, on Tuesday ;)

squad by clicking the bell. All right, guys. This is the second of two brand new

flavors from Killer Whey. It's called Jam Session, and it's black raspberry flavor.

You know, black raspberry and I get along quite well. One of my favorite flavors of ice

cream ever is black raspberry. I was so excited to hear that Killer Whey was

making a black raspberry flavor. You can see their other new flavor, called

Caramels Back, right up there. That one I loved, and hopefully this is just as good.

All right, if you've been here before, you know that I break my reviews down into

four parts. The first one is the texture. How does it feel coming out of the pint?

This is 60 minutes post-freezer. I've had this out of the freezer for an hour. We'll see

what the texture's like. Next is the taste. I'm expecting to really, really enjoy

this flavor, because I do so love black raspberry. The third part of the review

is the carbs. We'll take a look at what the carb situation is. Killer Whey is

really good about keeping carbs super-low. And then I also talk about the

ingredients. So without further ado, let's get into Jam Session. I do like that

they've got these cool plastic lids. Oh, man. Just by looking at it, it looks

spectacular. Super-smooth looking...where did I put that spoon

I had down here? That looks really nice. And the color? Oh.

let's see what the texture is all about. Yeah. Yeah.

Look how fatty and smooth that is. It's safe to say I like the texture a lot.

And the taste -- you know,

I actually thought it tastes a lot like blueberry on that first bite. It's not

the black raspberry that you're used to at the ice cream shop. I think this has

definitely got more blueberry to it, but man oh man, is that good. Wow.

Okay, let's get into what the carbohydrate situation is. We've got 12

grams of total carbs per serving. Serving size is 1/2 a cup. Four servings

per container, 12 grams of carbs, two dietary fiber, eight sugar alcohol, two

grams of net carbs per serving. Eight grams of net carbs per pint. For

something this delicious, my goodness. Total fat is 15 grams. That's the thing --

total calories: 150. Calories from fat: 130. So this is, despite

it being 8 grams of net carbs per pint, it is 600 calories. So just so'z ya knowz.

600 calories per pint. 15 grams of fat, 10 saturated fat, zero trans fats, 60

milligrams of cholesterol, 25 milligrams of sodium, 3 grams of protein. No sugar

added. There's the old MTC oil. I know that they're gonna fix that soon. All

natural, 15 grams total fat per serving, two grams net carbs. Here are the

ingredients: cream, filtered water, erythritol, whey protein concentrate,

chicory root fiber, MCT oil, vegetable glycerin, natural raspberry flavor, black

raspberry juice concentrate, stevia, and gums (xanthan, locust bean, guar). Contains

milk and coconut. Good ingredients. Delicious. Delicious.

Ridiculously pleasant experience. This stuff. Oh boy, I gotta say these two most

recent flavors have leapfrogged the original four flavors that they put out,

now that I'm thinking about it. That caramel flavor and this are 1 and

1A. I think that I do prefer the caramel flavor a touch more than this,

but they're both so good. Man, oh man are they good. So that's Jam Session. I do

still have a coupon code that you can use, and I talked about this a little bit

in the last video, before my storage space in my phone ran out. But it is

KETOAD10. And that will get you 10% off of your order at Killer Whey. It used to be

$10 off. That promotion has ended. It is 10% at killerwhey.com. This... these

last two flavors, guys -- I highly recommend. Really, really delicious.

So that's gonna wrap it up for this review. I hope you enjoyed it. Hope you

guys have a fantastic day, and I will see you next time.

Taiwan's East Coast Treasure | Taroko National Park Road Trip - Duration: 12:40.

Hey guys!

We're in Hualien City on the east coast of Taiwan

and in Taiwan, you'll find that most of the large cities with big populations of people are on the west coast

and the east coast is more beautiful nature

and a national park called Taroko National Park where we are headed right now.

It's named after Taroko Gorge, which looks incredible.

There's amazing views and hikes that you can do

so we have rented a scooter - I've got two helmets here

and Marc, I'm sorry, I'm calling dibs on this one.

One has a sparkly star and racing stripes and one doesn't so…this is mine.

I want that one!

Let's go.

Oh I forgot to unlock it!

We forgot that the lock is still on the wheel of the scooter.

There we go.

Got it?

Yeah.

Okay…we've got snacks, we've got helmets, we've got fuel, we have sort of a map.

Raincoats.

Let's go!

Ahhh!

Other way!

This way!

An excellent start!

Started to rain.

Ahhh!

These are no longer sunglasses, these are rain glasses now.

Yeah, pretty much.

There's no sun to speak of.

The visor's kind of hard to see out of so I'm just keeping my sunnies on.

You can't see very well right now but I promise there are mountains right up there.

Really big, beautiful mountains.

Marc and I drove a scooter in Toronto for what like 9 years?

Yeah.

And they…we had two of them and they were both Taiwanese brand.

SYM.

So it's pretty cool - it feels kind of at home to be in Taiwan on a scooter, don't you think?

Yeah, yeah.

It's like a homecoming.

It's nice.

Yeah.

This would've been a good day to wear waterproof mascara.

I can't even see 'cause it's in my eyes.

I'm trying to like cry to get the mascara out.

Oh that burns though.

Oh yeah…I just saw a little teardrop roll down.

Looks black.

You can see here how soaked my feet are.

Seems like a good day to go hiking!

Mainly I just want to make sure you get it out of your eyes.

So you can enjoy the….lack of a view!

Oh yeah that helps.

It's like a carwash on my eyes.

Now that I've stopped at a gas station, I can see.

Let's go…again.

♬ I can see clearly now, the rain…hasn't gone. ♬

Yeah I was going to say... you can't quite finish that lyric.

Here we go.

We're inside the gorge now in Taroko Gorge and wow!

It is stunning in here.

Oh my god!

We're passing all these signs that say that you should wear a helmet while you're in Taroko National Park

and then there's all these places that say there's a helmet borrow just up the road so...

I guess we're already wearing helmets.

I think it's because of all of the um, the rock falls that happen here

so they're suggesting that you wear a helmet.

How's your extremely wet scooter ride been through the gorge here?

I mean it's gorgeous but it's just a shame that it's so wet and cloudy.

I think you mean to say it's "gorge-ous."

This was a setup wasn't it?

To see if I'd say that?

It was.

Okay.

I'm fine with it.

Let's go.

We just passed the sign for the Swallow Grotto Trail

and that's what we've been heading towards so I think we are getting close.

The rain has stopped and we've made it to the beginning of the Swallow Grotto Trail.

That's where we've been headed this whole time.

It's absolutely stunning here and I cannot wait to walk more inside this gorge.

So Swallow Grotto Trail actually seems to be a road that goes along the gorge

and it…it almost appears as though you could drive through the entire thing

so we're going to actually go back and get the scooter

and then we can pull over whenever we want to.

Might be able to see a bit more.

Yeah.

But I'm just thinking as we're walking along here about what it took to build this road,

like through all of these tunnels and there's these sheer drops off the side.

Like I can't imagine.

I've been getting queasy just walking along here looking down at the water.

I can't imagine building it.

It's incredible.

So you can see there's a…a road over there and then the river flows through.

This part of the…the gorge, Swallow Grotto Trail, is I think about a half a kilometre long

and you can see how narrow it gets in parts there.

It's absolutely stunning.

You have to be really careful in here because, obviously it's a gorge

so there's a lot of things you can hit

and even taking off there's a huge rock jutting out there so…

So we just tried to fly the drone and I didn't know what Marc was doing.

I was flying it really controlled and then just all of a sudden it went rogue

and it started flying literally into… towards one of the walls in the gorge here

and so then I tried to fly it back and it was just not responding

and then I was able to fly it close enough that we could grab it

but I honestly feel sick right now.

I'm shaking.

That was really scary.

I thought it was a ghost piloting the drone or something.

The way it was moving was really eerie and I…

It was really eerie.

I said to Marc like, 'what are you doing?'

He's like, 'I'm not doing that'.

Yeah.

So we just brought it back and then… it was floating like…

or, you know, floating like right over here and

I just reached out and grabbed it, which is not how we normally catch the drone but…

At one point I was trying to just raise it up so you could grab it and it was not responding

and it was just kind of sitting out there by itself.

That's why it felt like a ghost.

It was almost like 'na na na na na na'.

Yeah.

It was really weird.

Maybe there's ghosts here in the Swallow Grotto.

Anyway, I'm glad we have drone back.

Uhh!

Baby's back!

Baby is back!

Never do that again!

Bad drone!

Bad drone!

Are you still shaking?

I'm still so shaky.

Do you feel like you can drive?

I'm going to go very slow.

Okay.

I'm good with that.

I feel kind of queasy.

Okay.

Don't back up too much.

Okay, yeah.

There's a huge…this is what's behind me.

Sheer drop.

Eee!

Where I'm standing right now, according to a sign over there,

is the best view of the Taroko Gorge, period.

And what I love about the Taroko Gorge especially is that these rocks behind me…

these are made of marble.

But they weren't always marble.

Over 200 million years ago they started out as coral and little marine organisms

and over millions of years, they piled up and up and up and they became limestone

and then as tectonic plates shifted and lots of other magic happened,

they turned into marble and so that's what you see now.

And this is the Liwu River behind me and it is just cutting down through the rock even as we speak

and the gorge just gets deeper and deeper as that happens and it's incredible to just

know all of the background and see how incredibly gorgeous it looks and

I'm just glad that we made it this far in the rain to see this incredible view.

I can't stop looking at this view.

Maybe we should just live here.

That sounds like a good plan except for the rain.

Yeah.

We should've brought a tent.

But you know what?

We could go stay set up shelter in there.

That's a good spot.

Marc and I just pulled off the road to have a bite to eat and uh,

you've already got our chips open.

I couldn't wait.

We haven't had this kind before.

Kyushu Seaweed Lay's.

Oh.

Are they good?

Have you had one yet?

I have.

They're really good.

We also brought…this is uh just a bun with like corn, cheese, ham.

Oh! Lemon Pocky.

One of my absolute favourites.

This is scallion cheese bun.

And from 7-11, Marc picked up one of these rice wraps.

And then just a couple of water bottles.

I love having roadside picnics.

Me too.

This…look at this.

I know.

It's incredible.

Mmm.

Oh just having lunch with my friends.

This is just weird.

These roads are so beautiful but they're not the roads I want to be on after dark so…

Not so much.

And in the rain so we're just making our way out of the national park now back to the main road.

We're making our way out of the park

but we didn't want to leave without seeing this shrine behind me.

It's one of the most famous landmarks in the whole national park.

It's called the Eternal Spring Shrine

and unfortunately the reason it's here is a very sad one.

It's built to commemorate in 1958, 212 workers who died

while constructing a really important highway in Taiwan, the Central Cross-Island Highway.

It was the first one linking the east and west that went through the central mountain range here.

So it's really important and this has been destroyed by landslides a couple of times and rebuilt.

This latest one was built in 1989 and the reason for the name Eternal Spring

is because you have these natural waters that seem to flow right through the temple

and go into the Liwu River here.

And that is called the Eternal Spring Waterfall and it just feels very calm and very tranquil here.

We are headed back towards Hualien City now.

We've got about an hour's drive.

It has been a rainier day than we expected but still really fun

and I hope that you guys enjoyed coming along to see Taroko National Park

and just driving this incredible road through the gorge.

Don't forget to subscribe to the channel for lots more travel adventures if you haven't already

and if you like this video, give it a thumbs up and we'll see you in the next video.

Bye!

Xperia XZ3 might not have the big camera upgrade we were all expecting ● Tech News ● #TECH - Duration: 2:18.

SONY'S new Xperia XZ3 could launch next month but latest rumours suggest it won't

arrive with a dual-lens camera.

There's a very busy few months ahead as some of the world's biggest smartphone makers,

including Sony, ready themselves for some major launches.

Samsung, Apple and Google all look set to reveal upgraded devices before the end of

the year but one of the first to hit shelves this autumn could be the new Xperia XZ3.

If Sony follows tradition it will unveil its next flagship at the IFA technology show - which

begins on August 31.

With a reveal imminent the rumours are already to beginning flow thick and fast with many

expecting some big changes.

Perhaps one of the biggest upgrades could be the addition of a dual-lens camera which

would finally allow Xperia fans to add DSLR-style depth of field to photos.

Sony recently announced this camera technology on its Xperia XZ2 Premium but this could be

the first time it's appeared in the standard flagship.

A recently leaked image from case maker Olixar also revealed how this design could look with

the double cameras stacked on top of each other.

A dual-lens rear snapper would clearly be a popular addition but Sony fans may face

disappointment next month.

Despite many experts suggesting two cameras are coming, a new report is speculating that

Sony will stick with its single camera on the XZ3.

According to new leaks from CompareRaja's trusted tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer, the new

Sony phone will feature one camera on the rear case.

This rumour has come from leaked renders obtained by the site.

There's no word on how powerful this snapper could be but the Japanese technology firm

has recently revealed a new sensor which could appear on the XZ3.

Along with an updated camera, we're also expecting to see all the usual Sony feature

such as water-resistant design, top-notch 5.7-inch display and fast Qualcomm Snapdragon

845 processor.

[ENG] [EPISODE] BTS (방탄소년단) @ Billboard Music Awards 2018 - Duration: 36:38.

The members have arrived at the airport to attend Billboard

We're going to Billboard again

I'm really swollen right?

Right before boarding the plane

This is my outfit, I matched my bag too

Of course I love your glasses the most

Introduce your glasses

It has feeling, I feel like I'm a celebrity

You look cool

This can be my birthday picture

I shouldn't have slept...

RM is explaining why he's covering his face

I was supposed to do my hair at the shop but I already did it and I fell asleep

Second person to check their swollen face, V

Everyone, yesterday we were packing and getting ready to leave last night

But at the end we fell asleep, I slept for about 4 hours so I wore a mask

Eating to get ready to sleep as soon as he gets on the plane

Everyone this looks like alcohol but it's apple juice

Leader is checking things to prepare for interviews

And...members sleeping or preparing

Fans are welcoming at LA arrival

Moving to the studio to film for James Corden show

Checking camera position after rehearsal

Wow Namjooniee

Members returning from first recording

A few days later, gathered to check on choreography

They've practiced numerous times but are checking details for a perfect perfomance

Practicing many times for the Ellen Show and Billboard

Discussing Billboard stage with director after finishing practice

Ok I understand

Do we stay in the center the whole time?

Arrived at the Ellen Show

Feelings about 2nd visit

Hello I'm Jimin

Today we get to be on the famous Ellen Show

It's as comfortable as coming over my neighbor's house

We are going to perform "Fake Love" and "Airplane pt. 2" at the Ellen Show

I'm looking forward to seeing how well the members will do

I'm saying this for myself I can't forget for the other members and do my best fighting!

The hot dog I had last year was so good I requested it again

I got this flavor today

At the AMA's the sausage in the hot dog was delicious but this..

the bread is good

I can probably eat 3 but I'm satisfied with 2

I'm tired from working out in the morning

You worked out??

Just like push ups

Namjoon worked out??

I used to work out all the time

Someone give me evidence

Ending with 'Bangtanbantanbangbangtan'

Finally going to Las Vegas after ending LA schedules

The members are surprised at the sleeping car prepared for them

This is amazing!!

Daebak!! (Amazing)

Is this a bathroom?

These are all beds

My shoes are always shiny

Checking recorded rehearsal as soon as they arrive

We're going on the red carpet

After I go to the Red Carpet...oh wait

Do we go straight toward the stage after Red Carpet?

RM's gonna do well I'm just gonna follow him everywhere

RM fighting!

I have to lower the tension a bit

I need to rest with my whole body

This camera is basically a dance practice

You do this better than me

How was it, do you accept?

That's touching, I'll go harder later

Ready for Red Carpet after all preparation

I don't think I'll be able to focus at all

I think I can watch other stages once we finish

But once we finish it's almost the end

They catch the reactions of people a lot

I'll be relaxing my voice

Our performance is really important so

That's true, what a pro Jimin

They are less nervous since it is 2nd Red Carpet

V is ready to film and editing for the fans as everyone is talking

We're here guys

Wow there's so many people

Greeting fans who came to support on a hot day

After interviews, ran into DJ Khaled

Hello

I'm eating a hotdog

This hotdog I'm unsure about the fist one had good sausage, the second one had good bread

The bread and sausage aren't as good this time but the onions are good (LOL)

Is it good?

We worked hard today

Yummy!

Meeting Taylor Swift at the waiting room

That's amazing wowww

The next person they meet is...

V really wanted to meet "Legend" Sunbaenim

Taehyung must be happy

Meeting with Khalid

Entering with many greetings from many fans

Taking pictures with Chainsmokers who they haven't met in a while

BTS members are enjoying the performances

I'm speechless this is unbelievable

Tyra Banks is taking pictures with members while RM is in the bathroom

People keep coming to us and asking for pictures

They're interested because it's weird we're here

Whenever we come out they keep screaming for us

Im thankful

This is the most embarrassing time, we want to say hi to you all but there are other people so we don't want to be rude

In our hearts we want to just get up and high five everyone and hug everyone and sign too

There are so many people who came for us

Members want to turn around but are being careful

The best there are so many people

Finally the time to announce Top Social Artist

An award ARMYs made and received!

We got it this year too, thank you so much

Thanks to ARMYs we received Top Social Artist Award again

I'm so happy and thankful to win 2 awards at Billboard

ARMYs you are the best!

I love it, I love it so much I'm so happy

I was so nervous I thought my heart was going to burst

But now we have to perform

I'm nervous+excited at the same time you know?

I'm so nervous but I can't seem to calm down

I need to remain calm

I froze so much that I couldn't even speak, did you see that?

This award is for all of you..thank you so much and I love you

I really wanted to say this if we won but my mind went white

It's an award that made me feel really good

I'll do well on stage

We need to give back to our fans

There isn't much time left for real, I'm nervous

My stomach is starting to hurt from nervousness

Monitoring before stage while other members are stretching and relaxing their voices

Everyone seems even more nervous because this is the first performance

Ahhh I'm so nervous, ofc it has to be at Billboard too

Go hard and try to perform with no regret

Ended the stage well thanks to encouragement

You did well

I think I was off pitch a little bit

That was crazy, this was a historical moment

We're done, we killed Billboard

After finishing the stage, ran into Lil Pump

Heading back to the waiting room to meet Pharrell

I was gonna do a hand kiss but I restrained LOL

My dreams came true, I finally met him

Besides winning an award I was happy to meet Pharrell

All of a sudden my nervousness is gone after we got off stage

I was right about here to give him a hand kiss but I stopped myself

Thank you you guys are the best!

Congratulations! We can't believe we came all the way here

And on top of that doing a comeback stage at Billboard doesn't make any sense

Some could call this historical

It is a historical moment

Thank you to ARMY for making this historical moment

You guys are history

I wasn't nervous performing at Billboard but I was nervous thinkingARMY were watching us

So I tried to perform confidently

I say this everytime but we can do this because of our fans and we should perform with a grateful heart

If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have been nervous at all

I almost threw up I was so nervous

I know that feeling

It was more nerve-wracking because it was a later performance

Namjoon was like don't feel burdened just do as you usually do

I haven't done anything...

Anyways we ended successfully so

Thank you so much!! We love you!!

so they're suggesting that you wear a helmet.
