TERRI: Every good decision pays off, so I'm praying this
broadcast today is your wake up call to develop
discipline like never before. After all, discipline is the
bridge between your dreams and your destiny. So first, let's
identify how to tell if you're wasting your life.
(Music)
TERRI: Hey, I'm Terri Savelle Foy,
your cheerleader of dreams. I pray that as you invest
in yourself today, you're captivated and you're catapulted
to live your dreams. In fact, I want to help you today discover
how to tell if you're wasting your life and if you are, like I
was for 11 years, how to get a simple morning routine. In fact,
I'm going to share five morning habits of the most successful
people in the world that will lead you to your dreams. You
know the truth is, your daily habits determine your destiny.
Fact, I was listening to TD Jakes one day. I love the bishop
and he made this statement. He said, "What are you gonna do
with the rest of your life?" Then he said it like this. "What
are you going to do with the life you have left?" Of course,
he was shouting and sweat and stuff and it sounded much more
powerful, but what are you going to do with the rest of your
life? Are you going to be like the four lepers who said, "Are
we just gonna sit here until we die or we going to get up and go
after what belongs to us?" You know, I wasted years of my life
accomplishing very little, repeating the same scenario year
after year, but I made a decision to take the first step
in a positive direction by changing my morning habits. That
was it. You know, I listened to the first message. I read the
first chapter. I walked the first mile and little by little,
my mindset improved. My relationships strengthened. My
dreams enlarged. My body reshaped. Every good decision
pays off. So I'm praying this broadcast today is your wake up
call to develop discipline like never before. After all,
discipline is the bridge between your dreams and your destiny. So
first, let's identify how to tell if you're wasting your
life. The first sign that you're wasting your life is number one.
You're comfortable. You know, they say, when you stop growing,
you start dying. Let me just ask you: how long has it been since
you challenged yourself to learn something, to read, to grow, to
try something new? See, being content is fine, but don't
confuse it with settling for less because maybe you're too
afraid or too lazy to go after what you really want. In fact, I
read where Steve Jobs said every single day he would look himself
in the mirror and ask this question: if today was the last
day of my life, would I be happy with what I'm about to do? He
said if the answer was no for too many days in a row, he knew
he needed to make a change. Well, I was comfortable for 11
years. I drove the same route to work. I worked in the same
office at the same desk doing the same task for a decade, and
there's nothing wrong with that, especially if you love what you
do. But my problem was I wasn't stretching myself out of my
comfort zone. I wasn't committed to any kind of plan for personal
growth. Well, because I was stagnant, everything in my life
was stagnant. My savings account didn't grow, my relationships
didn't grow, my life experiences didn't improve. See, when you
stop growing, everything around you stops with it. In fact, in
Genesis, we see this story of Abraham and his father Terah,
who set out for Canaan land. Now that's defined as the land of
abundance, the land of more than enough. Well, the Bible reports
that they both set out for Canaan land. In other words,
they both had every intention of making that their destination.
However, Tarah reportedly stopped along the way and
settled in Haram. Now, think about the two words used to
describe Tarah stopped and settled. He never made it to the
land of abundance, dreams fulfilled, overflowing life
because he stopped and settled. What I'm saying is don't let
that be your story. You had every intention of writing that
book, but you stopped along the way and settled. Or you had big
goals to travel the world, but you stopped along the way and
settled. You had great aspirations of having your own
business, but you stopped along the way and settled. Never stop
and settle when God has so much more for your life. So, that's
one sign that you're wasting your life. Number two is you've
settled at a miserable job. You know, they say a typical eight
hour job makes up one third of your daily life. Now, why would
you invest so much of your precious time doing something
you hate? See, we only get one shot to go full speed ahead at
living the life God intended for us to live, and more
importantly, fulfilling the assignment he's given us to
fulfill. Well, unfortunately, 80% of Americans claim to be
miserable in their careers. So the third sign that you could be
wasting your life. This one's kind of funny, is your
television is your best friend. It's your BFF. Well, you know,
the average American is watching over four hours of TV every day.
That's over 30 hours a week in front of a TV set, or as I like
to say, watching other people live their dreams. Now, I don't
want you to turn off the TV right now. Just hang on a
second. Give me about 20 more minutes. But it is truly
shocking when you deduct just one hour of TV time to do
something productive, you are going to be amazed at what you
can accomplish in just 60 minutes. You could clean a whole
room, read a couple chapters, walk off a few hundred calories,
become more fluent in a new language. Learn a new lesson,
brainstorm an idea that could change your life. I think you'll
be as surprised as I was years ago to discover exactly how much
time you're spending just watching TV. Now, I encourage
you, track it this week because I think ... You might be
thinking, I'm spending a couple hours, you know, each night as
you unwind, but when you start tracking it, you discovered
closer to five hours per evening, which means 35 hours a
week. Well, they say, by the time you're 60 years old, that's
15 years of your life glued to a rectangle in the living room.
Think about that. Remember, your time is your life. If you waste
your time, you waste your life. Number four, the fourth
indicator you could be wasting your life is you make excuses.
They say excuses are what we give ourselves when we don't
want to admit that we are where we are because of our choices.
In fact, I've heard someone say, if you really want something,
you'll find a way. If you don't, you'll find an excuse. Well, I
love this story about Jim Brown, how when he was struggling, you
know, he was a American guy, struggling, had pennies in his
pocket, nothing in the bank, and this wealthy man said to him one
day, he said, "Jim, why haven't you done well up to now? What is
your problem?" Jim said, "I pulled out my list of excuses,
figuratively speaking, but I made a list," and he blamed
everybody. He said, "I blamed the taxes, the government, the
economy, the president, lack of education. My boss," he said, "I
blamed everybody for where I was." Well, his mentor said to
him, "How come you ain't on the list?" Because he said, "If you
want the future to change, you've gotta change." He said,
"Don't wish for less problems. Wish for more skills." Well, Jim
said that really woke him up and he made a new list that said
'me.' Well, that change began by picking up one book, listening
to one podcast, attending one conference, and that's exactly
what Jim did. He changed his daily habits and within five
years' time, he became a millionaire. Well, good habits
are as addictive as bad habits, but much more rewarding. The
fifth sign that you could be wasting your life. Number five
is you relive the good old days. Do you often find yourself
reliving the past? Do you feel like your best days are behind
you? See, if you're still talking about yesterday, you
haven't done much today. You know, when you dwell on the
past, you remain in the past, and this mindset can make you
just lose sight of where God wants to take you. See,
everything God has for you, it's ahead of you. It's not behind
you. So yes, be grateful for whatever good memories you made
and successes you acquired, but your greatest assignment is
before you. And in fact, there's a verse in Luke 17:32 that
simply says three words. It says, "Remember Lot's wife."
Remember Lot's wife. Now, God had promised to save Lot and his
family from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, but he gave
them one command back in Genesis. He said, don't look
back. Well, if you know the story, Lot's wife did the very
thing God said don't do and she turned back. Well, when she
turned back, she gave the impression I care more about my
past than I do my future, and she lost her future by looking
back. Well, you too can lose your future by looking back.
See, when your memories are bigger than your dreams, it
kills your today and this is a serious issue. Are you spending
more time rehearsing the past than you are planning for the
future? Well, that's exactly where I was years ago. I was
wasting my life and no vision, stuck in a rut. Each year was
just a repeat of the year before. In fact, I think the
dumbest thing I ever said, December 1991 in Lubbock, Texas.
It was my college graduation day. I had my cap and gown on
and I turned to my family and I think I said the dumbest thing
I've ever said. I said, "I will never study again." I mean, why
would I? I had a degree. I graduated with honors. I was
more educated than 70% of those who never finished college. I
knew all I needed to know. It's good enough to last me forever.
Well, ironically, that was proof of my uneducated intellect,
right? That was probably the dumbest thing I've ever said,
but what's worse? It became the dumbest commitment I ever kept.
I literally backed up my dumb promise of never studying again
for 11 years of my life. For more than a decade, I never
picked up another book. I never listened to a motivational
teaching other than church on Sunday. I never invested in a
conference. I never gleaned from a mentor. I didn't listen to an
audiobook or download a podcast. Nothing. I pretty much never
studied again and my life proved it. I lived paycheck to
paycheck. Paid my car note every month, paid my credit cards
faithfully. I had nothing in my savings account. I spent
everything I earned. My routine was I would wake up at the last
minute to rush to the office and was the first to leave at 5:00
so I could hurry home and get involved in watching other
people live their dreams. Who's going to get the rose ceremony
tonight? Well, in 2002, when I finally got desperate for
change, my husband and I had separated and I needed hope. I
needed vision. I need motivation. I needed something
to get up in the morning. Well, I picked up one book and started
with one page, one day at a time. Something surprising began
to happen. The more I read, the more I wanted to learn. I was
learning how to manage my time, how to reduce my debt, how to
lead an organization, get my body in shape, organize my
house, how to set goals for my future. The more I learned, the
more I began to earn. Well, as I began practicing five simple
habits every morning, as a result, the next 11 years of my
life, my income quadrupled. My cars were paid off. I went from
ghostwriting books for other people to authoring books. I
went from attending conferences to speaking at conferences. I
went from watching TV for hours to hosting a TV show. What
happened? As I began to grow, everything around me began to
grow. My life has seen enormous increase and success due to the
five simple habits I began one morning in 2002 and I know it
can happen for you too, because I receive testimonies daily from
people all over the world who are changing their routine and
changing their lives. So when we come back, I want to
share with you the five things successful people
do before breakfast. I'll be right back.

TERRI: I'm so excited about my brand new
book, Five Things Successful People Do Before 8:00
AM. Now, these are the very habits I started in
2002 that absolutely transformed my life. You know, any time
someone asks me, how did you overcome insecurity? How has
your life changed so much? How did you start writing books? I
always say I changed my routine and it changed my whole life.
You know, they say the secret of your future is hidden in your
daily routine. I heard one guy say, success is the sum of small
efforts repeated day in and day out. In other words, it's not
what you do each decade that matters. It's what you do at the
dawn of each day that adds up and successful people have a
morning routine that they swear by. They protect it. They guard
their morning rituals because they know the success they have
is because of the routine they have adapted. So you might be
wondering, well, what are the five morning habits? Well, I
want to run through them real quick today so that you have an
idea and you can get started immediately. So number one is
they pray and meditate. You know, I thought I was just
making these up, but I began to find out that successful people
do this in all walks of life. Well, my dad Jerry Savelle, he
taught me years ago, to always take a journal and a pen into my
quiet times with the Lord and to practice hearing the voice of
God. Now the Bible says my sheep know my voice. So God expects
you to hear from him. It's not strange. It's not creepy. It's
the opposite. It provides clarity, confidence, peace,
direction, wisdom for your life. You know, if you're wondering if
you should change jobs, move locations, join a company, start
a church, marry a certain person, go to this university.
This is where you gain answers, is in your private time with the
Lord. Now, I've actually never heard an audible voice in
prayer. What you hear is more like an impression on the
inside, and my dad taught me this. He said, whatever comes up
in your spirit, just write it down. In fact, Jeremiah 30,
verse two, says God said, "Write all the words I've spoken to you
in a book." So God wants you to document what you hear in your
spirit. And you know, many times I've wondered, is that God or
just my own head making this up? But I just started writing it
down anyway. Well, this single practice of journaling my prayer
time has provided more direction for my life than any other
habit. No exaggeration. In fact, in my new book, I walk you
through the steps of practicing hearing the voice of God, and if
you choose to start your morning routine with only one single
habit, this is the one that will alter the course of your life
for the better in every way. There is strength in solitude.
There is insight in isolation. Even if it's only five minutes a
day, it matters. So the first habit is pray or meditate. The
second habit is read. Successful people read a lot. You know, for
some reason, as I shared earlier, I had the mentality of
viewing books as an obligation rather than an opportunity. You
know, it was always an assignment, something I had to
do, not something I get to do. In fact, I thought only nerdy
people who lacked a good social life were the ones staying home
on a Friday night curled up with a boring novel. Well, I love
what Bill Gates says. He says, be nice to nerds. Chances are
you'll end up working for one. Well, without fail, every single
successful person I have studied has this one trait in common.
They read and they read a lot. In fact, 75% of millionaires
have reported reading at least two books per month. So
unsuccessful people view growth as a period of life, as I did.
Successful people view growth as a way of life. They never stop
learning. You know, think about it. For example, if you desire
to be a comedian, can you imagine getting to sit down with
Steve Martin and learn everything you can about standup
comedy? Well, you can. Steve tells it all in his
autobiography. What about a dream to play tennis
professionally? Why not be trained by Wimbledon winner and
tennis hall of famer Andre Agassi? By reading his
autobiography. You know, if you want to become a bodybuilder,
Arnold Schwarzenegger has provided the equivalent of years
of personal training in his book. What's it called? Like,
the Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding? You can get out of
debt with Dave Ramsey. Learn to lead with John Maxwell. You can
learn to play guitar with Keith Urban. Tell better jokes with
Jerry Seinfeld. Learn to change your habits and live your dreams
with Terri Savelle Foy, but I'm telling you, your life will
change by a simple dose of reading every day. In fact,
there's this quick story I want to tell. You know, back when we
used to use cameras instead of our phones and we actually took
our film to be developed, I would always stop and drop off
my film at Walgreens. Well, I was there so much that as soon
as I entered the sliding doors, I would hear "Welcome back, Ms.
Foy." Well, one day I ran in the store to put another roll of
film in and the guy at the photo lab, he said, "I noticed you
went to Scotland." Of course, there was no privacy back then.
They saw all your awkward poses and ones you would normally
delete, and I said, "Yes, it's gorgeous. Have you been?" He
said, "No, are you kidding me?" He said, "But that is the one
place in the world I would love to go." When he told me that, I
said, "Well, when are you planning to go?" He said,
"Never." He said, "I could never afford that." I mean, not even a
glimmer of possibility. I said, "What? You can do anything you
set your mind to!" And then he said to me, "No, I'm just not
that lucky." He said, "But my ancestors are Scottish and I
would give anything to go there like you did." Well, if you know
anything about me, this is my specialty. I had a captive
audience to teach the art of goal setting. So I started
giving him tips to live his dreams and he replied with, "No,
not me. Like I said, I'm just not that lucky." Now,
unfortunately, all of my encouragement fell on deaf ears.
He refused to dream. Well recently I was visiting my
parents in their hometown where that Walgreens is located and I
went inside to get some water, well up from the counter popped
that same Scottish blood young man, and he said, "Ms. Foy,
where have you been?" I wanted to say all over the world, but I
explained that I had moved to a new city and so I just said,
"I've missed you. Where have you been?" He said, "Oh, just
surviving." So I said, "Have you made it to Scotland yet?" And of
course I asked reluctantly. He said, "No, that would be nice,
but I'm just not that lucky." Truly, he was simply existing
another year with no vision. Here he was, an American guy in
his late twenties with opportunities all around him and
he remains bound to the same place, doing the same thing,
year after year with no hope to ever change. I'm not saying
there's anything wrong with working where he was working.
I'm just saying he had no hope of doing anything. Now, at the
same time, you have a similar situation of a young man from a
poor family, devastated from the Great Depression in 1929, whose
grandfather owned a local grocery store making $2 per
hour. Just a few decades later, he is raking in $20 billion in
profit. Now what did this young man, Warren Buffett, do that my
Walgreens friend won't do? He simply read books. He opened his
mind to possibilities. He expanded his imagination. He
gained knowledge. He built his confidence. He gave himself
permission to dream outside the four walls of that grocery
store. I'll say it again, successful people don't just
read. They read a lot. In fact, Mr. Buffett, the fourth
wealthiest man in the world said, I've had some lucky days
in my life. He said, but the luckiest day was in 1949 when I
was 19 years old in Lincoln, Nebraska, and I picked up a copy
of the Intelligent Investor. He said, it not only changed my
mindset, but it really changed my whole life. Then he said
this, "I would be a different person in a different place if I
hadn't first seen that book." Now, I want you to really think
about those words, a different person in a different place if
he hadn't first picked up a book. See, the so-called luck
that my friend is helping for is available to him everyday by
picking up one book and starting with one page. So I want to
challenge you. Set goals for yourself to read, whether it's
20 minutes per day or 10 pages a day. A book per month or a book
a week. Make it a priority and you will become a different
person in a different place. Well, real quick. The third
habit that I want to mention, I don't have time to go through
all of them, is to write and review your dreams and goals. If
there's one habit that I'm known for more than anything, it's
this one: the power of having a vision, writing it down and
keeping it before your eyes. I want to challenge you to do
this, because once I learned the secret to setting goals, getting
laser focused on vision and taking action, my life
catapulted to new levels I never thought possible. This habit
right here, grabbing a pen and paper, will absolutely change
your life. I don't have time to go through all of it. The other
thing I wanted to mention is that successful people exercise.
Obviously, we know that. Well, I'm going to teach you in my new
book, the Five Things Successful People Do Before 8:00 in the
Morning. You don't have to do mom before 8:00, but I want you
to learn the importance of taking care of your physical
body and it doesn't have to be a whole hour. I've gotten so many
testimonies from people who took the advice that you know, I
always say, don't look at the one hour you don't have. Look at
the 20 minutes you do have and get moving. Well, I have gotten
so many testimonies from people who have lost significant
amounts of weight just with a 20 minute walk every day, 20
minutes of riding a stationary bike, 20 minutes of walking
around a track while their kids play soccer. I'm telling you, 20
minutes a day times 30 days in a month? That's 10 hours of
investing in your physical health. So I wish I had time to
teach more of this, but I'm so excited about my brand new book.
Five Things Successful People Do Before 8:00 AM, it has proven
habits that will advance your life to a whole new level. Now,
I speak from experience what God has done in my life and from
thousands of testimonies we receive from entrepreneurs to
authors, celebrities, ministers, nearly 100% will attribute their
success to the daily disciplines they've adapted in their lives.
I'm telling you, the most successful people in the world
have a morning routine, so if God is dealing with you
specifically about discipline, developing more self discipline
in your life, you need to get this new book because I will
walk you through my personal daily routine of five things
that I started doing each morning when my life was at the
lowest and how it transformed me into a person of self
discipline. And today I still practice those five habits, all
before breakfast. The secret of your future is in your daily
routine. Now, you're going to learn things like what I call
the secret to self motivation because that's one of the things
people have asked me, "Terri, how have you stayed motivated
all these years?" Because it's one thing to get excited, but
how do you keep it? You are gonna conquer procrastination.
You're going to say goodbye to laziness, lack of energy. In
fact, I'm going to show you why successful people spend time
alone, how to practice hearing the voice of God. You're going
to get crystal clear on God's plan for your life. You're going
to learn so many practical things like how to retrain your
mind for success, how to turn your drive time into an
opportunity to prepare for greatness. You're actually going
to look forward to traffic jams, I'm telling you, because you're
going to learn to invest in yourself because when you're
growing, you're learning, you're preparing for your next level,
and as you start to grow, everything around you will start
to grow. Now, my favorite chapter is how to set and
achieve any goal you have in life. You're going to love the
stories of people just like you and how they went after their
dreams and goals of writing books, losing weight, paying off
debt, starting businesses. You're going to learn all that,
but I'm so excited we added this to it. It is a custom made
habits calendar. Now, I didn't have this fancy thing when I was
starting out, but this is a proven key to self motivation.
This will become your personal checklist, and now, let me just
say it doesn't have the months already assigned. You get to
start whenever you want, but I've got the five habits already
in here for you to just check them off every day. And I'm
telling you, when you see your progress, it motivates you to
keep going. So this is our first time to offer these two new
resources together at this special price. It's simple to
order. Just pick up the phone right now, call the number or go
online to get it sent out today. And let me just tell you, what
you do behind the scenes has more significance than what you
do in front of people. It's all part of the preparation for
where God wants to take you. So I pray this will become a manual
for preparing you for your dreams and let me close out by
saying, don't look at all the years you've lost. Let's look at
the years you've got left and start living your dreams. Thank
you so much for watching and I'll see you next week.

Bài #11 (7/11) - Âm /k/: Quy tắc phát âm - Phát âm tiếng Anh giọng Mỹ - Duration: 4:10.
Now, let's look at the typical ways how we spell the /k/ sound
because in my experience this usually causes some confusion for Vietnamese learners.
Of course, this /k/ sound can be strong or weak,
depending on its position in the word, as we have learned it before.
"K" and "CK" are always pronounced as /k/:
"QU" is always pronounced as /kw/:
"X" is pronounced as /ks/ if it's NOT at the beginning of a stressed syllable:
The "C" and the "CC" is only pronounced as /k/
if the next letter is "A", "O", "U" or a consonant,
or if the "C" is at the end of the word:
"C" or "CC" + "A":
"C" or "CC" + "O":
"C" or "CC" + "U":
"C" or "CC" + consonant:
"C" at the end of words:
Finally, sometimes the "CH" and the "CHE" can also be pronounced as /k/,
and here are the most typical examples:
Unfortunately, there is no rule to learn when to say the "CH" and "CHE" as /k/,
so you have to memorize these words.

Long ago..
There was a lady who was a servant,at some houses in this town
She was a mother..
Mother of two girls..
When her husband left them..
..she worked hard for raising her children..
..dreaming of a good fortune of her daughters..
That mother loved her younger girl than the elder..
Their house was very small..
Time has passed and those girls became women..
Their mother became old..
But one day..
The younger one..
Left the home with an autorickshaw driver
She was having an affair with him..
That mother loved her younger daughter more..
But..
She never came back to see her mother..
These incidents made that mother tired..
But she never showed her tiredness at any situation..
Later..
She met her younger sister at temple..
She was pregnant..she tried to smile at her..
But..
That mother didn't stay for hear that news..
She left her elder daughter alone and..
..gone forever..
When she touched her mothers hand for the last time..
For the very fist time...
She felt the fear of loneliness..
When she struggled to do the funeral of her mother..
Her brother in law came forward to help...
Brother !
Time passed and she continued..
..her mothers job as servant..
But..
It didn't last for long..
Once..
On a rainy night..
When her sister was near her delivery time..
An autorickshaw sound came to her..
The man whom she supposed as her brother..
He..
She tried her best to resist..
But she got beaten up by him..
She cried. But nobody heard nothing on that rainy night..
Above all it was a threaten of him..
A threaten which cost the lives of her sister and her baby..
After that day..
..it repeated many times..
..and after that..
He sold her for money..
In many of those sleepless nights..
..she remembered her helpless sister and her child...
Her sisters child is studying at school now..
She has look after her..
That is the one and only aim of her life now..
This town has only an external beauty..
There is a drainage below that..
There you can find us..
..who are trying to survive their lives in..
..sweat and tears..
Let me go sir..
Hey wait..
Now what sir..
I just asked..
..and what I needed was..
..your own story..
..but I didn't get it..
So..let's do the thing that what you came for..
Hello..boss..
Yes..I am coming..
On the way..please wait..
Yes. .sure..I'll bring..
..lady whose life has changed..
..lady who crossed the fires..
..lonely eyes which seeks its way..
..why your fate has changed..
..the lonely child who became prey for vultures..
..the helpless pigeon at the forest of vulpes..
..all affections in the mind darkens and..
..you begin to melt and spread everywhere..
..will there be a new world out there..
..to evolve the buds of your dreams..
..will there be a new world out there..
..to evolve the buds of your dreams..

Mr H 's Tech Tips #1 - Duration: 4:38.
This is Evan Robb principal of Johnson
Williams Middle School and I'm joined
today with Patrick Hausammannn who is one
of two division ITRTs right here in
Clarke County Public Schools. ITRTs
help teachers and help schools find
creative and innovative ways to
incorporate technology and it's
certainly very appropriate now as our
division is embarking on an exciting new
technology initiative Patrick welcome.
Thank you for having me, I'm excited to
share some good tips. Absolutely and I
think our goal this year is about once a
month we hope to share some tips for
families about technology just to
raise raise awareness about technology
and also to give some tips on working
with Chromebooks throughout the upcoming
school year so today you
have some tips for us. Absolutely and
I'll go ahead and jump right in and
share a few slides and hopefully we
teach people a few good things. Excellent.
So as Evan said I am an ITRT, in the
division, one of the two. We'll go
ahead and jump right into the first tip.
One of the big things is starting up and
shutting down. Chromebooks start up in
eight seconds or less if you ever see
the arrow that you see down here at the
bottom of the screen on your Chromebook
that means you're due for an update and
usually if you take a stance of shutting
down about once a week those updates
will automatically happen and you'll
never be inconvenience by them. Another
tip is screen brightness. You'll have
keyboard buttons for you to do
increasing and decreasing if you can
decrease the brightness on the
Chromebook as low as you can and still
be able to see and use your Chromebook
that'll buy you time every day off of
that charge to get even longer into the
day before that Chromebook battery goes
down. Another tip is keyboard shortcuts
if you're on the desktop or if you're on
a desktop or in your drive and hit the
slash button or it's also the key that
shows the question mark that'll bring up
a full list of all the keyboard
shortcuts that are available
in that app and as a sidenote control-c &
control-v for copy and paste that you'll
see on the tip on the right side also
work on the Chromebook and will help
you for the copy and pasting side.
Another tip on the Chromebook desktop
screen itself, so no windows open, if you
do ctrl alt and again that slash button
or the one that has a question mark it
should bring up a make the most of your
new Chromebook screen that gives you a
bunch of different tips on how to do
different things on the Chromebook
because I know a lot of people may be
new to them and that can help walk you
through some of the introduction type
things as far as just changing the
background and the wallpaper, things like
that. One of the last few tips here is on the
Chromebook touch pad itself. You'll
notice there's not a left and a right
click button so you're gonna use two
fingers pushing down at the same time
for a right-click. If you gently put two
fingers on the touchpad and slide them
up or down that'll be your way to scroll.
And one of the my favorite things that I
learned just last year... If you put three
fingers on the touchpad and slide them
left to right you're gonna be able to
navigate between all the open tabs you
have going on. The last tip for this
week is on accessibility. A lot of times
we have students stumble across these on
accident so if you ever end up seeing
the mouse cursor is huge or the screen
is really zoomed in or maybe you get an
on-screen keyboard that keeps coming up
that's gonna be an accessibility feature
and the screen here tells you how to get
into the accessibility (setting only needed once) and then once
you're in. That menu it's literally just
clicking which one of those things you
either want turned on or which one of
those things that you want turned off.
Which if the magnifier is on its going to
take you back to a normal sized screen. If you
turn off the on-screen keyboard
that's going to keep that from popping
up all the time and getting in your way.
That's probably a good amount of
tips for this time. It was a lot fairly
quick but keep in mind with the video
side of things you can always go back
stop it, pause it, drag that back a little
bit, and view at your own pace and watch
as many times as you like.
Thanks a lot Patrick, that's a really
helpful information. I'm sure our
families will appreciate and I'm
certainly looking forward to learning
with the next time we do a video, which
should be sometime next month to share
additional tech tips to our families
here in Clarke County. Thanks Patrick.
Thank you for having me.

What is TPMS and how does the Tire Pressure Sensor work - Duration: 2:21.
Hello Guys and Girls it's 'Lurgs' here welcome to my channel and today an
explanation of the TPMS system, the tire pressure monitoring system. Now there's
2 different types and I will explain how those work in this video. TPMS stands
for tire pressure monitoring system and it's an electronic system in your
vehicle that monitors your tire air pressures and obviously it alerts you if
any of the tire pressures fall dangerously low. So how does the system
actually work? Well there's 2 different types of systems there's a direct TPMS
system and an indirect TPMS system. Now the direct system actually measures
the air pressure in each tire and if the air pressure drops below a certain limit
then it will alert you with this icon on your dashboard. Now the other system is
the indirect TPMS system, now this works alongside your anti-lock braking system
the ABS, and it uses the wheel speed sensors so basically if you're driving
in a straight line at say 50 mph all 4 wheels should be rotating
at exactly the same speed, now if the tire pressure is high or it's low on
one of the tires then that wheel will be rotating at a different speed, and that
will alert the computer and you will get the tire pressure monitoring icon up on
your dashboard. So the TPMS system is basically to help keep you safe, improve
your vehicle's handling, reduce tire wear and give you better fuel economy.
So if your TPMS warning indicator comes on then the first thing you need to do
is check the air pressure in all 4 of your tires and make sure that they're
pumped up to the correct pressure. Once you've pumped up all 4 tires to the
correct pressure you will then need to reset the TPMS system. Now this does vary
on different vehicles but there is usually a button for it. If you cannot
get that light to go out then you've probably got a problem with one of your
ABS wheel speed sensors and there is a link above now about how to go about that.
If you found that video useful please subscribe by pressing this button
down here, really do appreciate you visiting my channel Guys and Girls.
And if you'd like to select any other videos around here that would be really

SNAPlife: Setbacks Are Not Failures - Duration: 3:59.
There's a big difference between failing at something and experiencing a setback.
I'm Bill Snodgrass and that's what we're going to talk about in this SNAPlife
episode. So so to put this in context suppose you've made a decision that
you're gonna do something. …part of your long term plan you're going to do this
thing repeatedly for a long period of time. You're gonna eat right every day
you're gonna eat healthy and you're gonna have the the healthy breakfast bar
instead of the unhealthy breakfast tart thing. You're going to save money every
paycheck. You're going to study every day. You're gonna… you're going to do your
assignments and stay caught up.You've made this decision that you're going to
continuously do something that moves you in advance. You're gonna exercise every day…
You're going to get out, you're going to— you know—get your steps in on a daily
basis. And then one day comes along and you don't do it. One day comes along and
instead of stopping at 1900 calories or 2,000 calories you pretty much hit that
whole you know extra burrito on top of what you should have had. And you're in
you're looking at like…maah… I went way, way over the limit or a day comes and and
you get busy in your you're helping someone with something and you don't
have time to study or to read that book or whatever it is that you set yourself.
What do you do? That's a setback. That's not failure. That's a setback. A setback
means that you've stumbled. You're running metaphorically speaking down the
path towards your goal and you fell you stepped in a hole when you fell down. Or
you made a choice to stop and look at the flowers because they were really,
really pretty, and you stopped and look at the flowers. The trail still before
you. The goal is still before you and all the things that worked up to the point
that you stopped to look at those flowers works— still works. So what do?
You… you……keep going. You go again. You resume the process that was working. You
go back to the thing that was working and you keep doing it.
You… you… There's a lot of people in my #nosmallcreator group who trying to vlog
very regularly and and they're trying to upload and they're trying to post videos
on a daily or semida… on… on a schedule.
What happens to be miss a day: You should just probably quit and delete your
channel. That's what you should do, right? Or if you miss a meal. You… I've gotten
so busy—this is hard to believe, I know— I've gotten so busy that I have
forgotten to eat lunch. So what do you do? Arrghtt… I blew it! I'm never gonna eat
again! That's it! Not gonna ever eat cuz, you know, I missed lunch. Of course you go
back and you pick up where you left off. You miss lunch? You eat dinner and then
you eat breakfast the next day and then you eat lunch the next day. You just keep
going. A setback slows you down, but it doesn't stop you. You don't stop going
down the trail just because you encounter a setback
Keep going! Keep going. Pick it up. Start over you left off and keep going. That's
it…not not a very complicated concept… If you if you experienced a setback you
just pick up where you left off and you go you keep going. Thanks for watching!
Hope you enjoyed this SNAPlife episode. Please leave me a comment, question
suggestion… All those things… I love interacting with you. Sign up for
notifications subscribe the channel. I think I said it all. That's all for
this one, so I will see you in the next one.

Birthday Fund Raiser. Unsolicited Opinion 186 - Duration: 3:09.
Hello and welcome to today's episode of Unsolicited opinion. Today we'll be talking about
Birthday fundraisers, you know, it has become a trend in our society. Where young girls
Particularly in the university level who want to celebrate their birthdays and honestly speaking, birthday celebrations are one of the happiest moments
You can have because you have to see your friends
you have some good time with your friends. And
you really want to have the greatest of fun that that particular day comes up every year and
Some people want to celebrate it every year
It's just their free will to do it and invite people they love.
But now what has become of our birthday celebrations particularly the females
It has become a venue where we come to do fundraisers
I don't know where we got this idea of raising funds at the birthday party because it's becoming very
Disturbing where they invite you for a birthday party
you are going estimating to have some fun and catch fun and meet some other people you might know and
Then you are expected to cut cake of a certain amount.
You know gradually it has it eaten deep into the fabric of our society.
Particularly in university areas that girls want this to be happening, you know, unfortunately
We live in a society, where right now, we are facing a lot of difficulties
economically because of the political unrest and social unrest that is going on and now
Parties are very very few. So some of us who are used to parties before the
Economic situation and now not so much versed with parties and we are invited for a party, we go
Estimating that we will eat some good food, drink some good drinks and at the experience of the person
celebrating the party even though. we might go there with a present for the person celebrating the birthday party, but now
Birthday parties have become
Fundraisers. we go there to raise funds. I don't know for what charity project we are going to do.
I know some people do it for a charity project
But now girls are doing it for their own personal benefit. Why you even get on sitting to complain
I spent about fifty thousand francs for this birthday party and only was able to raise about twenty five thousand francs
What are you raising the funds for? For some charity?
If you need money,
ask for people to raise your money don't invite them for a birthday party and compel them to cut a cake for a
Certain amount because you want to raise money and recover what you spent in preparing for the birthday party
so My Unsolicited opinion, is we should stick to the
basics of our African society. In the United
States, n other places where they invite you for a party or for a drink; where you are going and knowing that you're going to
Pay part of your bill, it's different. But in our society
When you're invited for a party you are coming to have fun at the expense of the person who invited you. You might chip in
Something out of free will not as an obligation
However, stay connected to my show, Our show and like my videos, comments in the bottom section. It's a wrap u for me
Bye. Bye

Our Ultimate Twist Review - Duration: 12:19.
Hello everyone and welcome to the Keep Productive YouTube channel on today's
video we are looking into Twist, the team communication tool developed by Doist
We're going to be looking into the features the thoughts on the
application from using it for about two or three months now and also looking
into the pricing and information that you need to know to make that decision
- whether this is your team communication tool so guys let's dive in
so guys today's video we are looking into twist this is twist in front of us
Twist touts fewer notifications now what twist does aside from some of
the other applications is to improve team communication by reducing it
actually making it more precise precisely at the word precise and
meaningful so what I will be doing in this review is kicking things off with
the features I think some of the features are pretty impressive I'll be
giving you my thoughts on each of the features and how we've used them in
practice and hopefully that should give you a nice outline so the first of those
features is threads now threads essentially is the way to communicate
inside of twist so you do have channels on this left-hand side but channels act
almost as topic so for example if we clicked on general we'd see all of the
threads that were started inside of general the same with the podcast the
things that are relevant to here too and also YouTube these are the areas that we
work on at the moment now if I go up to inbox essentially inbox is where any new
threads are coming in so that you can almost keep a tap on what you need to
reply to and it's quite a nice way to actually view all of your threads and I
found it a good way on mobile especially to view all of that there now you do
have start in case you have any conversations that specifically need to
be favorited or important and you can do that by going to the top right hand
corner and starring it and a star will appear on that left hand side now
threads are really easy to start so for example what we do in our team is we
start a thread pretty much whenever there's a new article to be created and
what makes that different from our experience on slack is that when we were
creating articles on smack we're just chatting about it in a group but whereas
with this we've actually so for example we're doing a feature on to do as karma
explained Alice is writing this one when we post that title in the thread we are
actually being a bit more definitive and what we're talking about in this
conversation although this conversation did spiral into talking about whether
we're working at the weekend but you can see what we've done here the goal is to
be a bit more clear and focused on what
we're actually writing about and the issue at hand so that's one of the ways
that it differs from slack if I press start a new thread up here you can see
that I can choose the actual channel that I post in so I can go to podcast or
YouTube in this case I'll go YouTube and you can see that it brings you to that
channel in case and you can invite team members specifically to those channels
so they don't get the notifications but you can see here that when you're about
to post you get to choose who you notify in this case I might just notified Diana
if I press ENTER she will be the only one notified so that Alice won't get any
of those too many messages or threads in her inbox now it's very similar to
creating an email inside of twist all you do is give it a title so for example
you could say thumbnail for video on bullet journal so and then you can start
composing your message below now there are a few obviously a media attachments
you can use at the bottom you can attach anything there that's relevant you can
add any markdown as well so markdown is available there and any emojis that you
see fit in the conversation and so for example I'm going to say could we put
together a thumbnail for the boo Joe feature on that notion and what I'll do
I'm all for writing if I click post thread and once that's posted you can
see a conversation has been started now you can obviously comment and once you
comment what's quite exciting is if you wanted to bring in someone else to a
conversation say for example I'm like okay Alice is now needs to be involved
in this conversation you can do that or and you can even delete the original
person so that you're notifying only the people that matter and that will really
produce better results so you can see here that if I go on to each of the
posts I have you can add a reaction message you can see who that who's been
notified per one and you can even edit it there in the top right hand corner
you can mark as unread you can star a thread
you can edit the thread title if you want to if that changes you can even add
two todoist we're doing a feature on that tomorrow or Sunday I think it is
and you can get these read by email you can copy a link to the thread and move
it to another area if you wanted so for example if we're like ok actually this
is more suitable for the website you can drag that thread into the website area
and at the top that shall appear so it's quite a nice way of being able to
interact and the great thing is I will be able to see all of Diana's or Alice's
messages below here so the only other thing to note is that you've got the
ability to edit the channel you can get email to this channel and copy the link
to the channel as well as leave and archive it and if you want to find any
archived channels you can find them here we don't have any at the moment because
we've only been using it for two or three months now now one of my favorite
things I would say is composing those threads because they're very clear and
focused whereas previously we didn't like we were just more chatting about it
and you know we can close a thread once each piece had been done which is quite
nice so the other thing you've got is messages up here messages are a way to
organize your conversations individually so if I wanted to start a message with
Alice you could see that I started this conversation here and that's synchronous
so you can see when people were typing and you can see that inside of threads
too but that's a good way if you want to have a if we want to have a direct
conversation now also you've got team so you can see who's in our team and their
status so for example I've put a vacation reminder here on four until
Monday so I'll be off from Monday but this is a good way in actually seeing
what the statuses of all the team Alice is on a break to but she should have put
it on there which I'll tell her to do but worry a small team so we pretty much
remember all this stuff so that's how to view the team and search is quite
accessible and you can go really into detail if you want to just search
threads only and from specific people like I could search thread only from
Alice to me or Francesco and with the jacked off Trello for example and if I
search that they're obviously no terms for that at the moment so if I go back
to the threads here that's it's pretty much the outline of the experience it's
really optimized for remote teams and that's one of the benefits of using it
it tries to keep asynchronous communication as the sort of pinpoint so
that you don't all have to be bombarded with messages now I will show you a few
of the future sense that they've got so your features over here you can see your
account information as well as add a lovely photo you can access your
password as well as notification settings what appears on your mobile and
email I know that if I'm away from twist it will email me now with any threads or
messages if I've missed any which is quite nice I quite like that because I
know that I'm gonna get an email with anything I missed and it reminds me to
check it now the great thing it's not a twist is you've got the ability to
access time off you can schedule time off and you can even edit it if you're
on sick leave or paid leave or whatever so it's it's good if you've got a big
team you can go to that team area and see visually exactly who's on break soon
and it gives you a bit of sort of pre warning to some extent about what's
coming up so from using this application maybe for the last two three months I
would say that it's been pretty impressive we have been I would say a
lot calmer in our communication in terms of like when we're doing this daily
we're not just like bombing messages on slack we're very clear and concise about
what we're talking about which is quite nice and when we're working on pieces
for example if we leave those article titles up there we can go back to them
and just start that conversation again now the things I would like to see some
additional things is the ability to press enter on when you type in one here
I think that's probably accessible in settings somewhere but for example when
I'm typing a message just press ENTER and it posts that comment I don't think
that's available now also text formatting you've got only if you
obviously got a sort of key down here of be able to see the markdown and you can
learn markdown pretty fast I know it but I would like to see some sort of text
formatting added that I think this application will be
great for internal wiki's internal wiki's are getting more popular and this
left-hand side I reckon it'd be cool to be able to see posts on all of the stuff
that you need to know so when you're joining twist you actually see all the
information you need to know at a glance onboarding for employees etc but again
these are just feature requests and things that I've noticed but I really
have enjoyed the experience so far and I know that Alison and Diana have felt the
same in terms of being a bit more freer with their communication on here so as
you can imagine pricing let's give you a bit of an outline on pricing pricing is
for example we're using the free plan which is zero dollars forever
you've got search for up to one month you've got the up to five integrations
so we can connect out we've got to do is connecting up and you've also got five
gigabytes of total storage we've got custom channels and also guest access as
well as all of the access so for example on Mac Windows iOS Android and web to
access twist which is good now there is a $5 annual fee if you want to go to
unlimited so you can get unlimited search unlimited integrations I think I
will post all of the information here and that's per user per month if you go
for the annual fee you get two months free so it's $60 for the year if you go
for the monthly one per user it's six dollars per month now of course you can
if you went from unlimited free you would get history all stored so that
won't go away and you can have guest access via the free plan so guys
hopefully I give you a nice outline to twist again will probably be reviewing
it in the next couple of months giving you a bit of an outline to how we've
developed with the application a couple of recommended resources twists have a
couple of useful articles that might help you with team communication on
their blog on duyst blog and also Mike said Pierre Pierre has a great feature
here on YouTube that Dan's outlined the application if you want a
bit more details than just what I gave anyway guys hopefully that gave you a
nice insight to this application this video was commissioned mine doest just
to let you know they have sponsored this month here
the key productive YouTube channel and it's great to have them but again all of
these thoughts are my own so I just wanted to share some of my opinions on
Twist so far and we're going is a huge thank you for stopping by today I hope
you enjoyed this video leave a like if you enjoyed it subscribe if you're brand
new comment with any thoughts on team communication applications at the moment
and the guys pew thanks and I'll see you guys very soon

Why Some Cars Have a Timing Chain Instead of a Timing Belt - Duration: 5:58.
rev up your engines, today I'm gonna talk about timing belts versus timing chains
inside your car's engine, now for most internal combustion engines the
crankshaft which the Pistons are connected to spins around and that's
connected to the camshaft which opens and closes the valves, and there's
various ways you can connect it, now a long time ago in my grandfather's day
the early engines they didn't even use timing belts or timing chains, they had
timing gears, the bottom crank had a gear and then gears went to the camshaft
which spun the camshaft and then push rods open and closed the valves, now that
was a solid reliable system, you had gears connecting them, but that two main
disadvantages, one it costs a lot of money to make good gears to put that
together and the gears themselves had a tendency of making whiny noises that
people didn't like, so then instead of having gear on gear to spin it
they decided to use a timing chain and these engine designs the crankshaft
sprocket teeth on it, then a timing chain, then another sprocket with teeth that
ran the camshaft all the old American v8 engines were made that way and some of
them are still that way, you can see these are thick hardy change this one
came off a 350 Chevrolet they're really strong they lasted off a long time but
of course it costs money to make hard steel sprockets and expensive chains
so they gave the idea of the timing belt instead of a timing chain, the pulley on
the bottom of the crank and the pulley on a camshaft was connected using a
rubber base timing belt and contrary to what people might try to tell you, the
only reason they went to tiny belts it's cuz it's cheaper to make them when you
have a sprocket that uses a timing chain it has to be really strong steel, but the
sprockets that run these rubber base timing belts they can be a lot softer
because they're just pulling rubber they're not steel, so most of the
manufacturers switched over the timing belt, now with a car like this Toyota
that's well designed a 94 Celica, those rubber timing belt sometimes could last
hundreds of thousands of miles they'd tell you to change them every one
thousand or 90 or so, they were pretty reliable in the Toyota engine and
there's one big advantage of this design almost every Toyota engine ever made is
a non-interference engine, so off the timing belt breaks the Pistons don't hit
the valve and do any damage, but when you take cars like many of the Nissans, they
were a faster engine racing design, so the Pistons went higher and the valves
came lower, so if those rubber belts ever broke when you're driving on the highway
the Pistons hit the valves they break the engine and destroy the
engine, I've seen many people in the past few decades with these timing belt Nissan's
have the belt brake ruined the engine and they said, you're telling me that this
$30.00 belt broke made out of rubber and it destroyed my engine, I'll never buy
another Nissan, well then respond to this Nissan was one of the early companies to
go from timing chains on their cars, to timing belts and then back to timing
chains, so that they wouldn't have this problem and unfortunately for Nissan and
the people who bought them, a lot of those early switchover that went from
timing belts to timing chains had problems with the timing chains cuz
Nissan made them kind of poorly, but the idea was correct and now many
manufacturers have switched back to timing chains and the main reason for that is the
higher design capacity of smaller engines, they're making smaller engines put
out more horsepower, putting variable valve timing and other things inside and
that strains the timing belt so much that the rubber timing belts would have a
tendency of breaking too often and to get added horsepower to these smaller
engines, a lot of the manufacturers had used to make non-interference engines
are now making an interference engine but since they have a sturdy steel chain
that's driving it, they don't have the problems of a rubber belt snapping, take
this matrix it's twelve years old, it's got a timing chain inside the engine
never had a problem, as quiet as can be, and runs just as good as it did when it
was brand new, because really steel chains, they beat
the heck out of a rubber base timing belt
any day of the week if the chains are made correctly, and I know some guys maybe
motorcycle guys are gonna say, but Scotty chains need lubrication well guess what
timing chain is inside the engine, it's coated with the engine motor oil it is
inside the engine, so as long as you change your engine oil regularly this
chain is lubricated with nice clean engine oil and
it can last a really long time, rubber hey it falls apart it's over time, it's going
to stretch over time and yeah a chain stretches a little over time but it
takes a lot more time and mileage to stretch solid steel than it does rubber
and sure costs a lot more money to manufacture a chain and build an engine
that way but hey, they're not giving away modern car so you're paying enough money
you really want one that's got a solid timing chain in it, because I doubt
they'll ever go back to making gear driven cams, that just costs way too much
money and as I said earlier it does make a reasonable amount of whining
noise and people want quieter cars, they don't want louder ones, now of course the
rubber base timing belts were really quiet, but in a modern engine they just
wouldn't hold up, with all those extra cams and variable valve timing and GDI
direct injection, there's a lot more pressure, a rubber belt can't take it but
a chain can, so if you're shopping around for a new car hey, I'd make
sure it had an engine with a timing chain and not one of these flimsy rubber
base timing belts, so if you never want to miss another one of my new car repair
videos, remember to ring that Bell!

NOT YOUR AVERAGE Review: the LOJEL VOJA | Little Grey Box - Duration: 4:23.
Today I am going to be testing Lojel's brand new suitcase
the Voja!
what you get, what's this, what's that
and then we are going to get stuck into some very
rigourous, unnecessary and gruelling tests
I am thinking suitcase slip 'n slide
let's get started
First things first... this little information book was in it
itinerary package they've gone in on the travel theme I mean it's on brand
To activate your 10-year warranty on you Lojel product please register by scanning the QR code
Register your warranty cause 10 years is good
I always thought those things were a little bit sketchy I was like oh...
Matt and I spent a lot of money
on suitcases and recently they busted and I contacted the brand and they were
like yeah, actually it is covered have some new suitcases kids 10-year warranty
it's real and it's worth it
Lock instructions if you're like me you just leave it on 000
and my theory is that no criminal would think of it
because they'd be like surely she changed it?
As I understand it, the locks are TSA approved
Size... small, medium, large, we'll talk about different sizes in a second
Secure, strong and unexpectedly light
the Voja's injection moulded polypropylene shell
I don't actually know what that means so I Wikipediaed polypropylene
It's one of those, you know those chairs?
it's nearly indestructible
challenge accepted
polypropylene is recyclable
so when you're done with it
just chuck it in your recycling bin
these are some real heavy-duty motherflippers... look at that
there's no zip!
we're going back to zipless
you know that thing when the... when they don't match anymore
no zip means you can't bust the zip
it has these clips so there's like a grey button here
you push it...
down
up
oh my goodness!
you got the one on the side
one on the bottom
one on the top
While quiet running castors...
... let you roll smoothly and quietly
I've never had one of these wheels break
and I do terrible things to Lojel suitcase wheels
A retractable handle tucks away for safekeeping
You want guns hun?
Ow!
Oh I jammed my hand in it!
this case, the small, meets the common allowances for carry-on for most airlines
you know when you say like 'is that gluten free?'
and somebody's like 'well we can't guarantee anything
but it's gluten friendly'
that's carry-on friendly
You guys always ask me
Phoebe is it scratch resistant?
yeah I can't see a mark on it
So let's get into and see just how tough this thing is
Now I have to say looking at them the medium seems slightly smaller than a
medium-sized suitcase normally does and I would say the large seems slightly smaller too
I don't know if that's in my mind, I don't know if it's cause it doesn't have zips
I'm not really sure... you know if you want to check the dimensions
against other suitcases you're welcome to
I have to say if I was only choosing
one suitcase and it was going to be my constant forever use suitcase I would go
with the large I feel like the medium is probably a little bit too small for me
I pack quite a bit of stuff if you're a compact packer like Matt you might be
okay with the medium. So I just want to show you guys the inside of it
I really like this, I love the grey and it's got like some lighter tones through it
it's really textural I love that. These are actually really good I've used these before
Clip those in and then you just pull it tight like that to secure your stuff inside
they've got some extra zips
again there's another little zip section up here
so you can put some more valuables in there
and in here...
this little compartment too
oh I see what you're doing Lojel
and I like it
Lojel, you guys you knew what you were signing up for...
this isn't your first time I don't know why you keep coming back
and keep sending us these? obviously...
you're a little bit sick
and I respect that
I actually kind of like it
Call me

8 Best Western Games On PC (Because Red Dead Redemption 2 Isn't) - Duration: 14:11.
Unless you've been curled up under a desert rock like a Pit Viper all summer, you'll
know that the long anticipated follow up to the impeccable Red Dead Redemption is out
right now.
Frankly, I'm amazed anyone is watching YouTube at this exact moment - the game is forecasted
to sell more copies than there are people on earth.
Well, unless you are on PC.
Stop laughing console-owners.
'My mule don't like you laughin'.
Red Dead Redemption 2 probably will come to PC eventually - as a fan of money, Rockstar
would be mad not to.
But in the meantime I've put together a list of great western experiences you can
enjoy on PC.
From open worlds to murder mysteries this list has you covered.
It's in no particular order - everything here is good.
I'd love to hear your top wild west games in the comments below, and if you do enjoy
this video as you go along, click the little thumbs up icon and maybe even subscribe to
the channel.
It's the only one of YouTube that won't bombard you with Red Dead for the next month.
That's gotta be worth something.
If Red Dead Redemption 2 is the authentic western - right down to horse... parts shrinking
in the cold - then Gunslinger is all about the lies and bogus legends of the west.
It's a story being told in real-time, with a narrator adjusting the action around you
as bits of his memory come back or rewinding a chunk of the level when he realises he's
told it wrong.
Imagine the narrator from Bastion, only way flakier, and you're part of the way there.
Good thing is, whatever story he does choose to tell it makes for a superbly noisy gunfighting
game.
The way bandits flood the screen from left and right gives it the feel of a light gun
arcade shooter, and there are big rewards for stringing together kills and keeping combos
going by sniping out tin cans and pumpkins along the way.
In case it isn't entirely clear: this is not a game about realism.
It is a game about storing up luck so that you can slow down time and slip your head
past incoming bullets.
It's a game where concentrating turns the world grey and leaves big red enemies to plug
away at your convenience - like Super Hot in spurs.
It makes Red Dead's dead-eye shooting look polite in comparison.
And it has the best duelling of any game on this list - it's all about shrinking your
aim by keeping one eye on your opponent while getting a faster draw by moving your hand
closer to your gun.
Or you can pull first and kill them dishonourably for fewer points.
And at the end of the day points are how the west was won.
For just over a ten pounds, this a budget beauty.
Neversoft's Gun had the core ingredients of Red Dead Redemption, before that game strolled
in like Lee Van Cleef and blew our cowboy boots off with the kind of presence most games
can only dream of possessing.
If Gun lacked Rockstar's polish, it *was* trying to do it all on PS2-era tech.
The spirit of the West is all about dreaming big in harsh conditions.
You play as Colton White on his path to revenge, the product of an Apache-American union during
the 1880s - in the years after the Revolutionary War as well as the American Indian Wars.
Sounds like a history lesson, is actually about shooting lots of people in the head
in a open world that's not beautiful by today's standards, but overflows with things
to stick on your cowboy bucket list.
You can hunt wild animals, become the king of Poker, herd-cattle and hunt bounties whilst
fending off bandit attacks along the way.
Make too much noise and you better believe local law will be on your rump, too, adding
to the chaos.
You can also scalp your victims, which is so horrible you probably deserve a short stint
in jail afterwards.
It has all the makings of a solid (albeit melodramatic) Western: it's all about legacy,
revenge, hot lead at high noon and responding to the call of the great American Country.
It helps that it's brought to life by a cast of character acting heavyweights, like
Kris Kristofferson, Brad Dourif and Ron Perlman.
It may have come out twelve years ago but it still holds up.
It saddens me to think that the only reason I played Gun at all - on original Xbox and
not the PC, I have to admit - is because it came inside the console I bought from a neighbour.
Talk about the best surprise of all time.
That said, it may be as old and basic a version of Read Dead Redemption as a cowboy sipping
a Starbucks, but Gun is a pretty good 'dupe,' as they say.
Worth checking out in my view.
Desperados was made by Spellbound and when I played it I was mesmerized - the way it
blended cinematic western with adventure game storytelling and real-time strategy dazzled
my 11 year old mind.
To go from The Sims to knives and dynamite was quite a gear shift.
It's a real-time tactics game like Commandos, only with six-barrel pistols and tinkling
stirrups instead of gruff British soldiers.
I was captivated by the isometric perspective of a world we usually see up close or veeeery
far away on the Silver Screen.
You can control several heroes at once in your bid to capture an infamous train robber,
though the star of the show is John Cooper.
He's not The Man With No Name, but you might wish he was The Man With No Body -- guards
have incredible eyesight and hunt you down at the tiniest hint of trouble.
I was raised on some of the best Westerns ever made - I guess it's mandatory when
you raised by an American on top of a relatives supplying me with violent films years before
I was old enough for them - so Desperados is a dream come true for those well-versed
in the genre.
And if you're not, you can still enjoy the sight of a guy using balloons to drop things
on bandits below.
It still feels like a bizarre genre mish-mash - Westerns are about heat, tempers and who
shot first, all of which are horrible attributes when trying to play as tactfully as possible.
I'm not the stealthiest player, so I just enjoy the roleplay: not trying to cause trouble,
helping my buddies and occasionally dying in blazing gunfire that make the events of
the O.K. Corral look like a minor class dispute.
Believe it or, that's still a recommendation.
The amazing thing about Westerado is that despite its pixel style it has some of the
best gun combat on this list.
Your pistol here is a hindrance - every bullet needs a key press to load, and every shot
has to be manually cocked before you squeeze the trigger.
It turns gunfights into a panicked rush as you dash between incoming fire loading your
weapon and then have to hold your nerve as you try to line your cocked gun up with the
many bandits on screen.
Gunfights feel messy and disorganised, which is exactly how a western fight should feel.
It helps that around these brilliant lead-slingers there's a ingenious murder mystery, as you
track the gunman who murdered your family.
Helping locals with their chores earns you clues, gradually filling in a physical description
so you can hunt him down and put a bullet between his eyes.
Working out the size and colour of his clothes is a bit like Guess Who, only Guess Who doesn't
end with public execution.
Well, not in the rules I play.
I love the idea that anyone around you could be the perp, and the fact that you can accuse
random people or pull a gun on them in conversation to try and make them see things your way.
Often this spirals out in further chaos - whole towns trying to murder you, or the death of
key quest characters - but the story shapes itself around you and carries on.
I've helped a post man protect his carriage from bandits who want to steal his hats, I've
accidentally murdered people in a mock quickdraw contest and I pretended to know the rules
of poker.
Westerado has it all.
You can't talk about the wild west without some good ole fashioned treasure hunting?
Ahh, the exciting allure of the gold rush, and the sad reality of shaking one of those
frying pans into a river for 18 hours a day.
Steamworld Dig 2 is not strictly about gold… and is certainly not set in California.
It's a bit more steampunk than traditional Western: the forty-niner you're playing
is a robot and one that isn't Yul Brynner or scary Rachel Evans Wood.
Earthquakes have been rocking an old trading post above El Machino Mine and it's up to
you to figure out the whys and wherefores.
So, this platforming action game heads underground, pickaxe and grappling hook in hand.
You hammer through the underbelly of this mining town, strategically bashing items out
of rocks (you don't want to find yourself trapped down there in the dark, believe me)
and double-jumping to secret areas that hopefully hide handy treats.
You'll also have plenty of opportunities to scoot back topside to refill your lamp,
trade and speak with local yokels about, you guessed it, mining and earthquakes and other
such desert-based topics.
And of course you can upgrade your gizmos.
Because what would a metroidvania game be without gear-gating?
Now I like gunslinging and bounty hunting as much as the next Doc Holliday but Steamworld
Dig 2's exploration and puzzle-solving makes for a nice change of pace, even if its intensity
comes from crumbling rocks and lava instead of intimidating gazes from the local villains.
Playing a lot like XCOM in a stetson, Hard West earns its place on this list with its
bouncing bullets.
Ricochet shots off buckets and you can snipe enemies cowering in cover, which is all we've
ever really wanted in a western game.
It has other things to recommend it - Hard West is a hybrid of XCOM-like tactics game
and a light RPG where the story decisions impact the heroes you take into battle.
If you've played Jagged Alliance, you'll be familiar with the idea.
But there's something very true to the western about dragging wounded heroes through a number
of battles, their mistakes and injuries adding up over time.
It also does some interesting things with the idea of luck - not the only game on this
list to do this.
Luck acts as a bonus shield, increasing the chances of a bullet skimming past your ear
as long as you've got some on tap.
You yourself can tap into luck to pull off trick shots and other flashy techniques, though
you do run the risk of your luck literally running out and something terrible happening
in the next turn.
As the game continues it shifts from traditional western tales to daft fights against satanic
beasts - which is kind of a shame, as we'd have happily played a whole game of cabin
shootouts and farmyard tussles.
I guess if you were a fan of Red Dead's zombie filled expansion you'll probably
get a kick out of this one...
If you're more of a Mclintock! or A Million Ways to Die in the West kinda person versus,
say, High Plains Drifter, then West of Loathing might just be for you.
Crudely drawn, in more ways than those stick figured visuals, this Western spoof is the
epitome of role-playing heaven for folks looking for fun of the themed kind.
Set in the fictional "Distant Lands," just west of Loathing, this comedic bent on the
American Southwest of the nineteenth century, includes the good, the bad and the weird of
this genre.
Character classes, for example, fall between Cow Punchers (the heavy lifters a la 'saddle-up-the-wagons-pilgrim'
John 'The Duke' Wayne); Beanslingers, which is code for spellcasters (because if
Bone Tomahawk or Cowboys and Aliens taught us anything it is that Westerns need some
supernatural forces to make it extra deadly); and Snake Oilers, who can brew special tonics
in between gunslingin' like the Patent Liver Tonic that darkens and enlarges your liver
that is obviously too lily for the kind of liquor you can't buy on credit.
For all the jokes, West of Loathing is perhaps the most Western-like Western out there right
now (kinda like the True Grit remake).
Though it approaches the genre with humour and good-natured roasting, it actually captures
the spirit of the filmic/cinematic old west right down to the spitoon if you're particularly
partial to chewing tobacco.
If this were a list about Clint Eastwood and not the Western genre I'd be punning about
feeling lucky right about now.
But it isn't so I won't.
However, luck is the fuel that feeds your fire in Luckslinger, a game where you 'shoot'
'knife' and 'duck' - the latter being literal.
And I suppose a Dirty Harry-ism wouldn't be too amiss here in that the game is pretty
weird… gritty… but weird.
Luckslinger has the flashy action of, say, Once upon a Time in the West (look at that
swishy reloading animation) crossed with a comedic 'Support Your Local Sheriff' spin
on the genre.
You'll literally be dodge-rolling bullets and blasting people into tiny pieces, whilst
also playing music, completing physics-defying feat and using your trusty duck to collect
your throwing knife.
Because what else is there for a duck to do in a Western?
Like I said: weird.
Where the game gets real interesting is the concept of luck which is collected as a currency
from hidden stashes and dead bodies and used in a myriad of ways.
It can help you make a daring jump, for example, or cause an incoming bullet to swerve away
from you.
On the flipside, a platform might fall away for an unlucky player.
With enough luck the world may even save you from a fall elsewhere!
But only with Lady Luck smiling on you.
Odd it may be, but the game also manages to be authentic to the borderline absurd filmic
genre of the Western (more so the Spaghetti kind).
Whilst playing it, and even though the soundtrack is superb enough to listen to on its own,
all I could hear in my head was Dean Martin crooning Five Card Stud… which tells me
this game has charm and charisma out the wazoo.
We may not have the big daddy of western blockbusters on PC, but we have enough six shooters and
spittoons to keep us playing until Red Dead 2 does ride into town.
I'm sure we've missed a couple of absolute gems, so I want to hear even more suggestions
in the discussions below.
And do share your favourite western films, too - we're in that kinda rootin' tootin'
mood.
I hope you enjoyed this video and if you did, please feel free to subscribe for more like
it - we cover all things PC gaming-related, from the robot apocalypse of Generation Zero
to our ongoing Divinity let's plays where we recently asked an elf to lick ambiguous

If yuo can resist that sales pitch, you are stronger willed than I.
Thank you for watching and we will see you again soon.
Goodbye for now.

Repairing a Toilet - Replace the Fill Valve, Flush Valve and Flapper - Duration: 7:14.
Hello old friend.
We meet again.
(Theme from The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly)
(Toilet flushing)
A few days ago, we received a water and sewer bill for $615!
We've determined that we don't have any
water main leak or any pipes leaking, but that the problem is most likely this toilet.
The flapper on the inside of the tank has a tendency to get stuck in the
up position, and we're pretty sure that it was stuck the entire time we were on
vacation which was eight days. I'm actually opting to replace the entire
inside of the toilet tank including the fill valve and the flapper and the whole system.
Alright, let's open up this bad boy.
It does have instructions.
I'm pretty sure this is what scares people.
The first thing I got to do here is turn off the water at the back of the toilet.
And flush it to let all the water out.
You want to get as much of the water out as you can.
In fact, I might need to get a bucket because some of this water is gonna
drain out when I take this old fill valve out, and I don't want a big mess on my hands.
I'm just loosening this part here. This is what actually attaches the fill valve
to the toilet.
There it is!
I knew it!
Now the question becomes: How to I get this guy out of here?
Oh boy, this is the moment it gets a little scary. I am gonna have to take
this tank off of the toilet.
(fearful groaning)
There a flathead bolt here.
What I'm gonna do is kind of hold that with a flathead screwdriver and then on the underside...
There we go.
Now the other side.
Whoa! Hey!
And in front of you ladies and gentlemen you can see every color that
this bathroom was ever painted.
Remove the sponge gasket, which I guess is this guy.
Oh, it popped right off.
Remove mounting nut with wrench. Uh oh.
I don't know if I have a wrench big enough.
Okay, that's a problem.
I'm gonna go see what I can find.
Alright, I found this. It looks like it MIGHT fit, I'm going to give it a try.
Aw, so close!
I found a C-clamp, which probably isn't going to work, but I'll give it a shot.
Found this in my husband's truck. I think it's for an oil filter.
Everybody cross your fingers and toes!
Oh my gosh! It worked!
Here's something interesting: this one is on sort of a plastic hinge.
Whereas this one is all rubber. It's a lot more floppy.
I wonder if that's going to help it seal better.
This one's a lot easier when you don't have to use a wrench.
Says it right there: "Hand tighten the nut."
Place the sponge gasket over the mounting nut.
Well, it said it would wobble, but man, that's pretty darn wobbly.
This guy's still here. What do I do with that?
Is this supposed to be the sponge gasket?
I think maybe it is.
Take that one off, this makes more sense now. Derrr.
They say to tighten them alternately, so I'm going to do that.
The next thing is to loosen this lock nut, which is this guy right here in the middle.
And raise this up a little bit
Attach the tube.
Well, that doesn't want to fit, does it?
It says to attach the tube, but it's not exactly easy!
Turn top of new valve counterclockwise to unlock, and
Press down until corner of silver cover and flush valve line up.
Oh, I see.
Remove the valve and then turn to lock it.
Such a lovely angle on me. Hi there! Hey everybody!
Attach the water back here.
Normally, I would want to use plumber's tape on something like that but this says not to, so I won't.
Attach the chain to the lever with minimal slack, it says.
This may have to be adjusted after I'm done.
Hello.
I'm Senor Toilette.
This says to attach this to here with a metal clip, but I don't see a metal clip anywhere.
Ah ha! Look what I just found. It says to trim it so that it doesn't kink,
Turn to opened.
I don't know if you can see this, but there's water coming out back here.
I don't know if that's really an issue, but it bothers me.
Alright. it actually says on here that
it's normal to have water coming out of that area so...whew!
Alright, yeah I'm going to have to adjust this a little bit, I can already tell because
this water is right up there on the edge and I don't think it's supposed to be.
One change I decided to make was initially, I used the same bolts I had in
there before, but I changed my mind on that. I decided it's probably a good idea
to use the new ones they gave me because it has new little rubber gaskets.
Hey folks it's day two, and this toilet's been working great so far. But somebody
on my Facebook page just asked me a really great question that I was
wondering about myself. And that is: Can you actually reduce the amount of water
that is going through your toilet using this new system? And I do believe that
you can, and you might be even able to do it on the system you've already have in there.
There's a sensor on the side of this fill valve, and when the water
reaches a certain level that's when it shuts off. Turn off the water behind the
toilet, and flush to let all the water out. Then using the instructions, just
lower the flush valve and the fill valve, turn the water back on,
and let it fill.
There's the original level, there's my line, and there's where it is now.
So yes you can adjust how much water goes into your tank simply by lowering the fill valve.
Alright folks, there you have it. If I can do it, you can do it.
And listen, if they sell it at a home improvement store and it has
instructions, you might have to improvise on the tools a little bit, but you can
probably do it yourself.
So I contacted the city, and it turns out they do offer
adjustments in certain cases of leaks. And I had to send them a form and a copy
of the bill, and a copy of the receipt. But they did credit us back $147.
Not as much as I'd hoped for, but hey, it's better than nothing right?

Man Utd legend Gary Neville goes on transfers rant and says Jose Mourinho is WRONG - Duration: 3:25.
Instead, Neville has taken aim at Manchester United's transfer policy and the way they go about signing players
Sir Alex Ferguson was solely responsible for player recruitment during his tenure and his predecessors were too given similar clout
But David Moyes and Louis van Gaal both flopped in the transfer market and Neville has questioned how that was allowed to happen
It comes after Mourinho suggesting Juventus 'are not happy with what they have', 'they want more'' and 'they have a big desire to have a big future' - a clear dig at his own employers
"After the game against Juventus, his comments - some would say they were honest as when I saw the two team sheets before the game, I thought they were two completely different worlds in terms of players," Neville said
"But it is not just money, a lot of money has been spent on that United team. "The reality is the recruitment has been poor for four or five years
There has been no consistency, strategy behind the recruitment. "You have three or four different managers and different styles of managers' players in the same squad, where the club should always sign players that fits their profile
"And then if the manager leaves, you will always have players who believe in the club system
"At the moment, I do not see that, you have a collection of different players from different managers who believe in different things and Jose is trying to work them into a unit and he is finding it very difficult
" Meanwhile, Mourinho has been told he should 'expect' the sack at Manchester United
Old Trafford legend Paul Ince hit out at boss Mourinho in the wake of United's timid defeat at home to Juventus in the Champions League
"He should expect to lose his job. We are three seasons into Mourinho's reign. If I was managing a team and they had given me three years, and it was clear we weren't up to standard, I'd expect to lose my job," Ince said
"Are we getting to the stage where United just aren't good enough? Yes. They are slipping too far behind and can't compete with the best sides
" Ince told Paddy Power News that United are falling behind the top teams in the race for honours
"There are not even signs of improvement. He bought Fred, who can't get a game, and Alexis Sanchez has disappeared
His career has gone backwards."
