welcome back to another video it is Steph here from StephJKing.com
coming to you from you know beautiful Brisbane Australia and December is
flying by so I thought why not do a video on 8 things you should do before
the new year starts so I'm going to share with you eight things that I've
done that you can definitely try and do if you've got the time because I know
December can be a little crazy with all the fun activities that are happening
but I'm gonna dive straight into number one which is you need to close out 2018
it's just a matter of sitting down and reflecting back on the year and thinking
about what you had success in what you accomplished what you loved about the
year what you were grateful for and also even those little things that may have
challenged you I find just sitting down and really reflecting back on the year
and all of these things that I just mentioned gives you that ability to
really take note of like the good times but also things that you might want to
work on for the new year as well so definitely sitting down reflecting back
on the year closing it out yet so you can start 2019 nice and fresh if you do
want some help on how you can sort of reflect back on the year I recently did

number two is to let go of the past now life is life and things are going to
happen good things bad things and there's just going to be challenges that
come into your life that you're going to have to deal with now this is really
important to kind of look back and identify what were those moments in time
that you still might be holding onto that you haven't really sort of let go
of an emotion whether it's like guilt fear sadness whatever it may be anger
and it's just sort of neutralizing your emotions towards that situation so that
you don't carry it forward with you in the new year
now I recently did a video on how to handle the hard times so if you need a
bit of help around letting go of some of these situations I will
leave a link to that video in the description box for you to have a look
at number three is to set your intentions and goals for the new year so
now that you've dealt with everything in 2018 you're reflected back on everything
that's happened you've let go as best as you can on those things that were sort
of holding you back or holding on to still so now is the best time to really
sit down and go well what do I want to get out of 2019 what do I want to
achieve what do you want to feel for the year is it that your main three words
for 2019 are they inspired loved strengths and just taking note on when
you did that reflection on 2018 what was some of the things that you still want
to carry forward that you absolutely loved about that year that you
definitely want to continue with and then also what were those challenges
that really got you in 2018 is there something that you can do in the new
year for you to be able to overcome those challenges next time I will be
sitting down very soon to go through in depth my goals for the new year so I
will record that process and share that with you if you like number 4 is to tidy
your space now a cluttered space equals a cluttered mind and I could probably
say go for gold and do a massive declutter of your home but ain't nobody
got time for that in December I plan on doing a massive
declutter in 2019 so if you want to join me on that journey leave me a comment

just maybe picking out a couple of spaces within your home that you want to
just tidy up a little and then each night or maybe twice a week set a
reminder in your phone to remind you that that time is allocated to tidying a
particular space then use your phone and turn a timer on for like 10 to 15
minutes whatever time you want to allocate and just like dig in and do
whatever you possibly can in the time that you've allocated to that space and
then once your timer goes off that's it you're done move on live your
life as is number five is complete any quick wins
so get your to-do list out have a look what's on there and maybe circle a few
things that you think that will require not a lot of time to get it done and
then just block out some time in your schedule to get these little things done
if you don't get to all of them that's absolutely okay as well but even if you
can get a few of them just like crossed off that is such a good feeling and I
feel that you will probably feel a lot more accomplished going into the new
year then what you would if you got you to do was doubt and there was just a
bunch of stuff on there so some of the things that I got done was my backup and
sync wasn't working on my computer with Google Drive so I've fixed that that
took a little bit of time but it wasn't a huge lengthy thing I just had to
redownload the software the second thing was I had to take a pot plant or a plant
pot back to Bunnings it was just too small for the plant that I had inside so
I really liked the pot but it just doesn't it's just not big enough so I
had to take it back and the third thing was I bought a bin to put all my soil
into and I still haven't done that so I fixed that up
I took the song from my dining room put it in the bin and put it outside into
the garden so those are my top three things that I focused on for this week
and I was able to tick those off my to-do list number six is to create a
book list I am huge on personal growth and self-development and books is where
it's at for me I absolutely love them whether I'm reading them or whether I'm
listening to them on audio so if you don't have a book list yet set up for
what you want to read in 2019 definitely do it I find it just gives you a bit
more of a plan of attack in place so if you're reading a book and then someone
recommends a really good book that they've just finished you can just jot
it down and add it to your list it's so much easier than sure like trying to
remember that once you finish your book you're like ah
well with those other ones that I wanted to read and then you just can't remember
so it's as simple as opening up whether it's a note on your phone or maybe you
want to keep like an Excel spreadsheet or even on audible there's a wish list
that you can do so that's what I have I also have a spreadsheet where I have
books that I want to read and then on the second tab I've got the books that
I've actually read and I note down like a score like if I really really loved it
that's a ten if it was like maybe a three and then I write down like some
notes on like what I really took out of the book I find that's a good way to
sort of reflect back on the books that you've read and the ones that you really
really loved and what you got out of it number seven is to start one good habit
and this could be a simple small habit it doesn't have to be huge and you know
why do we have to wait for the new year to start some cool stuff so pick out one
of the habits that you would like to start doing in the new year and just
start it now one of mine is going to be making sure that I drink two liters or
more every single day normally I'm pretty good but recently the days are
kind of like some days I do it some days I don't because I'm busy and I just need
to set that as a priority and make sure that it is a good habit that I am
including that is going to be my focus that I have already started so just pick
something simple or something small that you want to start as a good habit and
just start it today number eight and probably the best one is to give
yourself a break December can be extremely overwhelming
and stressful and don't feel obligated to have to say yes to absolutely
everything just take some time for yourself
whether that's a weekend at home doing nothing but binge watching Netflix or
maybe it's some time at the beach with a really good book by yourself or even
maybe splurge a little and have a weekend away you don't have to have your
whole life completely organized and hover altogether by 2019 I feel that
there's just this overwhelming pressure on people during this time of year that
they have to have their life you know start with a little pretty bowl on top
and that's just not going to be the case so take that stress away don't even feel
that pressure put on you and just enjoy this time of year it should really be
about doing what makes you happy whether that's spending a lot of time
with friends and family then do that but if you're starting to feel a little
overwhelmed with the amount of commitments that you've made to things
be okay to maybe let them know that you can't attend any more or just won't to
say no in a nice way of course so those are my eight things that you
