Youtube daily report Jul 1 2018

[♪ INTRO]

People love plants, for food, decoration, or just because taking care of a succulent

is a lot less responsibility than a puppy.

But many of the house plants that spruce up our surroundings are also poisonous.

Kids and pets are the usual victims in plant poisonings because they have a tendency to

explore the world with their mouths.

In fact, when the American Association of Poison Control Centers

compiles their annual poisoning report,

plants are typically in the top 10 causes of accidental poisoning in children.

So you can be aware of the dangers lurking in your house, here are 9 plants you might

have around your home that are actually pretty toxic if they end up inside you.

Dieffenbachia is a popular house and office plant because it

can survive without much sunlight or TLC.

But it can be bad news if you mess with it.

This plant has specialized cells that contain calcium oxalate crystals.

That's the same chemical that makes up most kidney stones, which get stuck in the tube

that connects your kidneys to your bladder. Erh.

In Dieffenbachia, these crystals can come in a couple different shapes.

Druses have a star-like shape, while raphides are needle-like.

And researchers think that calcium oxalate crystals might have different functions in

different parts of the plant, from deterring hungry herbivores to adding structural support.

For instance, if cells in the tasty-looking leaves are damaged, like by chewing, they

can forcefully expel the raphides like microscopic darts.

These stabby crystals, and other plant proteins on them,

can severely irritate the delicate tissue in a mouth.

In humans, the swelling they cause can make it difficult to talk, hence Dieffenbachia's

common name: dumb cane, dumb being an antiquated, insulting term for someone who can't speak.

And if you're unlucky enough to get a squirt of sap in your eye, those crystals can damage

your cornea, the clear protective covering on the front of your eyeball.

Like any other scratch, this can typically heal.

But it's definitely not pleasant.

Now we usually grow daffodils and other members of the genus Narcissus from bulbs, they're

a classic, cheery spring flower!

But they also contain a toxin called lycorine, which is a type of alkaloid.

Alkaloids are nitrogen-containing chemical compounds made by lots of living things,

including many plants.

They can be another way of deterring herbivores.

We humans use some alkaloids on purpose, like caffeine or nicotine, even though they can

have really extreme effects on our bodies.

And lycorine is no exception,

it causes vomiting, diarrhea, trembling, convulsions, and sometimes even paralysis.

Exactly what it does in our cells isn't well understood.

Although there's some evidence it might mess with protein synthesis.

People usually don't eat daffodils on purpose,

but they can accidentally eat the bulbs thinking that they're onions.

And that's what happened to some school kids in Suffolk, England in 2009.

The kids were making soup using vegetables from a garden they had planted, when someone

accidentally added a daffodil bulb to the pot.

And a bunch of the kids got sick.

Thankfully they were all fine afterwards,

and hopefully they weren't too put off from eating their veggies!

Oleander is a popular landscaping shrub in the warmer parts of the US because it's

low maintenance, drought tolerant, and has some lovely flowers.

But there are some not-so-lovely parts too, like cardiac glycosides.

Cardiac glycosides are toxins produced by many different species of plants to,

you guessed it, deter herbivores.

Oleander specifically has chemicals called oleanderin and neriine.

And they interfere with the sodium-potassium pump in heart muscle cells.

The sodium-potassium pump does exactly what you'd think from its name: it pumps sodium

and potassium ions back and forth across the cell membrane.

This helps build up electric charges, and generates a cardiac action potential, which

helps coordinate signals that regulate heart muscle contractions.

So if you mess with the sodium-potassium pump, you mess with your heartbeat.

Specifically, cardiac glycosides inhibit the sodium-potassium pump and reduce the amount

of sodium ions it can pump out of the cell.

This slows down the heart rate, but increases the force of the heart muscle contractions.

Now, other cells in your body have sodium-potassium pumps too,

including nerve cells and the cells lining your gut.

So Oleander can mess with these too, leading to convulsions and gastrointestinal symptoms

like nausea, abdominal pain, and vomiting.

None of which sounds particularly fun.

Now, Rhododendrons are popular landscaping shrubs in the wetter parts of North America,

but this widespread genus of plants is also native to Asia.

And in the 1st Century BCE, they may have contributed to the

defeat of the Roman army in Turkey.

See, the pollen and nectar in rhododendron flowers contain grayanotoxins.

Like cardiac glycosides, grayanotoxins also interfere with cells' ability to move ions

across the cell membrane.

But they mostly affect nerve cells, so they're considered a neurotoxin.

They bind to sodium ion channels in the cell membrane, little pores that open and shut

to let sodium ions move into and out of the cell, which helps generate action potentials.

And when a grayanotoxin binds, sodium channels get stuck open, which causes all kinds of

mayhem in your brain, heart, and gastrointestinal tract, from hallucinations to vomiting.

Now, even though humans might not munch on rhododendron flowers for fun, bees visit these

flowers and make honey, which we have been known to eat.

This toxic honey is called Mad Honey, also the name of my elementary school rock band.

So the story goes: when the Roman army invaded what is now Turkey, the locals lined the route

with chunks of this Mad Honey honeycomb.

The Romans couldn't resist the sweet treat, so they suffered from the toxic effects, and

the sick and delirious soldiers were easy to fight off.

So I guess the moral of the story is: Never eat mystery road honey!

A favorite flower for bridal bouquets and shady spots in the garden,

Lily of the Valley has a shady side too.

Which you might know if you're a fan of Breaking Bad.

Lily of the Valley contains nearly 20 or more different cardiac glycosides, the same kind

of toxins found in Oleander.

One of the major ones is convallotoxin, which is one of the most active natural substances

affecting the heart that we know of.

Like all cardiac glycosides, it messes with the sodium-potassium pump and wreaks havoc

on your heartbeat, so it gets slow and irregular, or in extreme cases, undergoes cardiac arrest.

Lily of the valley also contains other toxins called saponins.

These aren't very toxic by comparison, but if you eat a lot of them, they'll give you

a pretty upset stomach.

Saponins are a lot like soap.

They're surfactants, which means their molecules have a hydrophilic, or water-friendly, end

and a hydrophobic, or water-avoiding, end.

And you know what else is made up of carefully arranged hydrophilic and hydrophobic parts:

Your cell membranes.

So because they're surfactants, saponins can punch holes in cell membranes.

And the cells lining your gastrointestinal tract do not appreciate this.

Most of the time when someone is poisoned by Lily of the Valley, it's an accident.

Like a little kid that tried eating the plant's inviting red berries, or one case study in

a medical journal of an elderly woman with dementia who loved the scent of some she was

given as a gift, and unfortunately ate them.

Hydrangeas' fluffy flower poofs may look pretty innocent, but they pack a surprise,

a toxin called hydrangin.

Hydrangin is a cyanogenetic glycoside and when you eat it, some enzymes in your body

convert it to hydrogen cyanide, which you may have heard of before.

It's real toxic stuff.

Cyanide binds to certain iron-containing molecules in your cells, and shuts down the cells'

ability to make that all-important fuel molecule: ATP.

Without ATP, your cells quickly starve and die, and so will you.

Thankfully your body can detoxify moderate amounts of cyanide, so you'd have to eat a

lot of hydrangeas to kill you.

And they taste pretty nasty, so a large helping would be hard to swallow.

But even eating small amounts of hydrangea will make your digestive tract cells unhappy

and cause diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach ache.

So if your kid or pet eats them, you should still get them checked out.

Sago palms are another landscaping plant used in the warmer parts of North America.

But they're not closely related to tropical palm trees at all, they're actually part

of an ancient group of plants called cycads.

Cycads were particularly abundant during the Jurassic Period, so you might remember them

from your dinosaur picture books.

But even if they look cool, they're hiding a dangerous chemical called cycasin.

It's not really the cycasin itself that's the problem.

But when your body breaks it down, one molecule that gets produced

is methylazoxymethanol or MAM.

Now, MAM has a habit of damaging DNA, particularly in developing brain cells and liver cells.

Which sounds pretty bad.

It's a DNA alkylating agent, which means it binds to DNA and can break strands or make

them stick to each other.

Which makes it hard for DNA to function or replicate properly, and that can kill affected

cells or cause them to become cancerous.

Still, you'd probably have to eat a lot of cycad to get enough MAM to cause problems.

But on certain islands in the South Pacific where people eat flour made from cycad seeds,

there are higher-than-normal rates of neurological diseases like Parkinson's and ALS.

And some scientists think that cycads might be partially to blame.

One festive winter holiday tradition is decking the halls with boughs of holly, and with other

poisonous plants too.

But I'm not talking about poinsettias, they're only mildly toxic.

You'd have to eat about 500 leaves to get sick,

and they taste terrible so it wouldn't be easy.

Mistletoe, on the other hand, can be much worse.

Now, mistletoe species that are native to North America aren't very toxic.

But mistletoes in the genus Viscum from Europe have a toxin called viscumin, which is similar

to ricin, which you may have heard of before.

Ricin is a strong poison made from the castor oil plant and was allegedly used in a tiny

pellet during the infamous umbrella assassination of the

Bulgarian dissident Georgi Markov during the Cold War.

And viscumin seems to be just as deadly.

An injected dose as small as 2.4 milligrams per kilogram of body weight

can apparently kill a mammal.

Both ricin and viscumin are ribosome-inactivating proteins, also known as RIPs, which is a kind

of morbidly appropriate initialism.

Ribosomes are the structures in your cells that assemble proteins, which do all kinds

of work to provide structure and regulate functions throughout your body.

When viscumin enters the cell it breaks up an important part of the ribosome, causing

irreversible damage and shutting it down.

And if your cells can't make proteins, you're in trouble.

Because everything starts breaking.

So, uh, even if there's some smooching, don't nibble on the mistletoe by mistake.

Potted cyclamen are popular gifts during the holidays, too.

They have delicate, colorful flowers, tend to bloom in the winter months, and can be

grown outside in mild climates.

But they also contain the toxin cyclamine, which is a type of triterpenoid saponin.

Like the saponins in Lily of the Valley, this toxin can mess with your cell membranes and

irritate your gastrointestinal tract, making you feel pretty lousy.

Thankfully, most of the cyclamine is tucked beneath the soil in the plant's rhizome,

which is kind of like an underground stem.

And all that cyclamine gives the the rhizome a very bitter taste too, so even curious kids

or dogs are unlikely to eat enough of it to get seriously ill.

The leaves contain less cyclamine, and in traditional Greek cuisine some species were

used to make dolmas, little leaf wraps stuffed with rice and other fillings.

But, like, please don't pretend you're on Iron Chef

and make dolmas at home using random houseplants.

It's not a good party idea.

In fact, "don't eat the houseplants" is generally a good rule to live by!

You can rest easy for the most part, because it'd probably take a lot to get seriously

harmed by these plants, even with their toxic defenses.

But it's always a good idea to contact Poison Control

and seek medical attention if it happens, just in case.

Eminem - The Monster (feat. Rihanna) [Lyrics] [The Marshall Mathers LP2] - Duration: 4:11.

[Chorus: Rihanna] I'm friends with the monster that's under

my bed Get along with the voices inside of my head

You're tryin' to save me, stop holdin' your breath

And you think I'm crazy, yeah, you think I'm crazy

[Verse 1: Eminem] I wanted the fame but not the cover of Newsweek

Oh well, guess beggars can't be choosey Wanted to receive attention for my music

Wanted to be left alone in public, excuse me

For wantin' my cake, and eat it too, and wantin' it both ways

Fame made me a balloon 'cause my ego inflated When I blew, see, but it was confusing

'Cause all I wanted to do's be the Bruce Lee of loose leaf

Abused ink, used it as a tool when I blew steam

Ooh!

Hit the lottery, ooh-wee!

But with what I gave up to get it was bittersweet It was like winnin' a used mink

Ironic 'cause I think I'm gettin' so huge I need a shrink

I'm beginnin' to lose sleep: one sheep, two sheep

Going coo-coo and kooky as Kool Keith But I'm actually weirder than you think, 'cause

I'm—

[Chorus: Rihanna] I'm friends with the monster that's under

You're tryin' to save me, stop holdin' your breath

And you think I'm crazy, yeah, you think I'm crazy

Well, that's nothin' (Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh) (Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh)

Well, that's nothin' (Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh) (Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh)

[Verse 2: Eminem] Now, I ain't much of a poet

But I know somebody once told me to seize the moment

And don't squander it 'Cause you never know when it all could

be over tomorrow So I keep conjurin'

Sometimes I wonder where these thoughts spawn from

Yeah, ponderin' will do you wonders No wonder you're losing your mind, the way

it wanders Yodel-odel-ay-hee-hoo!

I think it went wanderin' off down yonder And stumbled onto Jeff VanVonderen

'Cause I need an interventionist To intervene between me and this monster

And save me from myself and all this conflict 'Cause the very thing that I love's killing

me And I can't conquer it

My OCD is conkin' me in the head, keep knockin' Nobody's home, I'm sleepwalkin'

I'm just relayin' what the voice in my head's sayin'

Don't shoot the messenger, I'm just friends with the—

Well, that's nothin' (Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh) (Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh)

[Verse 3: Eminem] Call me crazy, but I have this vision

One day that I'll walk amongst you a regular civilian

But until then, drums get killed and I'm comin' straight at MC's, blood gets spilled

and I'll take it back to the days that I'd get

on a Dre track Give every kid who got played that pumped-up

feelin' And shit to say back to the kids who played

him I ain't here to save the fuckin' children

But if one kid out of a hundred million Who are going through a struggle feels it

And relates, that's great, it's payback, Russell Wilson

Falling way back in the draft Turn nothin' into somethin', still can

Make that, straw into gold chump, I will spin Rumpelstiltskin in a haystack

Maybe I need a straight jacket, face facts I am nuts for real, but I'm okay with that

It's nothin', I'm still friends with the—

[Chorus: Rihanna] I'm friends with the monster that's under

my bed Get along with the voices inside of my head

You're tryin' to save me, stop holdin' your breath

And you think I'm crazy, yeah, you think I'm crazy

I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed

Get along with the voices inside of my head You're tryin' to save me, stop holdin' your

The Sunday Bitcoin Special- Jalapeno Inventive- connecting gamers & altcoins, a gateway to BTC! - Duration: 28:41.

Hello everyone this is Adam Meister the BitcoinMeister the disrupt meister

welcome to the sunday bitcoin special today is july the 1st 2018 and i've

already done two shows with craig ship earlier in the day they're gonna be

updated by him real soon or maybe they already are strong hand

long-term thinking in motion baby and yeah

bitcoin is next bitcoin but we're going to talk about all coins today one

Bitcoin equals one bitcoin value your wealth and bitcoin check out the news

section blurred get your treasurer get awesome t-shirts like this but so i've

been in a moat in motion today I was already out at the UH the secret

location near Camp David with with Craig ship recording to videos but speaking of

really being in motion oh my dude oh my god so back in April I was in I was

speaking in Los Angeles and I meet this dude ari looked before oh yeah and he's

telling me about his jalapeno initiative inventive excuse me look at this it was

an initiative it's inventive jalapeno invented which

is linked to below always check out the links below and disrupt meister comm all

my archives shows are there so we're talking and he's telling me he's from

colorado I'm like dude I thank you for coming to this awesome Los Angeles event

but I'm gonna be in Denver in eight days and he said I'll be there too I'll come

to your event so sure enough I'm in Denver we're at the world crypto Network

event andy hoffman vortex we're all talking we're having a blast and there

he is there Ari is he's telling me about jalapeno some more and I'm gonna let him

explain what it's about but it's a I mean for me it's connecting gamers and

cryptocurrency well you need to get these gamers they need to learn how to

use cryptocurrency and then they're gonna get into Bitcoin eventually it is

a great gateway drug what he proposes his unique initiative here so I already

take it away thanks for being on the show

oh thanks Adam yeah so jalapeno inventive just go into that yeah so

we're basically bringing together mobile gamers and crypto utilizing the rewarded

video mechanism as a way to introduce all these mobile gamers to various

altcoins and use it as a mechanism to incentivize people to learn how to use

crypto so I mean there's there's tons of all's out there they all want exposure

and that puts us in a really good position to kind of be a faucet for them

and and yeah be that be that gateway drug for anyone to get into crypto and

in typically so the they also they're gamers they're game producers that want

their games to be played so basically you'll partner them up with alt coins

and people will be paid alt coins to play these games kind of the we've got

to be pretty careful about how we how we reward people with coins but using the

rewarded video is a you know that's a method that we can use so people will

play the games they'll watch the video get their gems or gold whatever and then

we also give them crypto along with that and there's yeah there's some ways that

we can you know we can kind of leverage some of the outgoing communities to push

over users to some of these you know newer games so it's kind of a user

acquisition strategy marketing tool for those game developers exactly so have

you had game developers contact you like I'm gonna be part of this thing we've

talked to a few we haven't really pushed on that campaign right now we're

building out the platform we were getting all our all coins together the

the later stage is actually the SDK that's gonna go into those games we're

waiting just a little bit before we we initiate that sort of that marketing

campaign but we have we've had conversations they're interested in it

and they're just waiting for an SDK to start testing so I I do know that

altcoins obviously want to get together with you I would assume I mean there's

so many all coins out there how else were they gonna stick out and yeah some

of them can afford to give away their their alt coins to to projects like this

so I know you had a vote at one point like where people were recommending all

coins but have all coins come to you and what was that vote all about well so we

started voting in it was actually December late

December we had these two weeks loading windows and so every two weeks one coin

would win and so that that that turned out pretty interesting the first few

months we were just using some Google Forms and then we actually built out

this voting app that's that's on our website now but coins did start to come

to us and submit their coin I think on the last vote there were something like

30 coins that were being voted for and 5800 users came in to register and vote

in those last two weeks so it was a yeah it wasn't it was an interesting

marketing method but they definitely did start to come to us seeing the potential

of you know exposure for their coin through these games I think it's because

most gamers are guys and then I know in crypto currency 95% of the people or

guys yeah they're this isn't this is a gateway drug into crypto kursi so yeah

is there any once they get their hands on these some of these crypto currencies

let's face it they're gonna be like 50 or altcoins you're not gonna be able to

keep them on your trades award there's gonna have to be a lot of education like

you know what a private key is uh paper wallets how do you send it do you have

that worked out I mean this is this is an educational project right it is it's

it's absolutely centered around education we're looking at you know

we're looking at having a very simple minimally capable web Wallis I mean

that's how we start them that's kind of removing that barrier of do you know how

are they gonna deal with their wallets do they know what wallets download are

they gonna have to make a paper well we're not we're taking all that out of

the mix as a temporary solution so start them off with a web wallet that that

that's where they earn their currencies and then we incentivize them to learn

how to use another wallet so they can start using their you know a mobile

wallet or a hardware wallet we teach them about the different wallets that

they can use so that's part of the education process and then we move them

you know have to have them move their currency over to those more capable

wallets but we're really this this intermediary step that is kind of like

training wheels for crypto all right for the gamers out there found that like

button people if you like this and you realize that once these kids get some of

these crazy alt coins they're gonna be like okay I know how to send it I know

how to store it now now what's this big coin thing well I could try

these four Bitcoin exchange now what's your feeling on Bitcoin did you foresee

a lot of the guys that just maybe there'll be some guys already they know

how to use this stuff and I'll just sign up to get the all coins to turn them

into Bitcoin yeah I think there's gonna be some some users that are like that a

lot of people you know just talking to people that haven't got into crypto but

are curious they they there's just so so little that they know and understand yes

they seem Bitcoin on the news they might have heard something at about aetherium

and they might have seen like if they're really like they might have seen

something about you know some alt coins but there's just so little information

on this that using you know using this as an intermediary step is is a great

way to well to teach them about Bitcoin and I I think most people are going to

they're gonna be a little interested in in all of it because there is so much to

learn there and and even looking at how people use currencies now like I use

multiple currencies I mean some bitcoins I'm like coins some it just it has its

different use you know and that's fine I think we're gonna see users sort of you

know uptake in that same sort of same sort of way but obviously the the big

one is Bitcoin and that's the one that's driving the market so that's the one

that everyone's gonna want to be a part of yeah now what what is what's the

schedule here how are things progressing well because this is a big project I

mean you're gonna get companies together they're making video games you're gonna

have to get all coins together you got to have a user interface wallets what's

the progress how many guys you have over there what's your funding like if you

can get into that and what's the Fort Collins area like the terms of

Technology um well yeah we'll start where we are so we were obviously doing

this in stages the first stage was to get all the alt coins so we got our

twelve coins there the next stage is uh pushing out you know an MVP that can

start to distribute those are all coins we're mid development of that right now

it's it's kind of slow because coming back to funding we're all looking for

some more funding but that's that's kind of slowed us down right now I've been

bootstrapping a lot we took a little bit funding in we're revamping some things

to go out to some bigger investors but you know

fundings kind of kind of keeping us at at the rate that we are right now and

we've got yet six people on the team we're looking at adding three more here

in the next month and and yeah here's here's a question here what is the what

twelve coins aren't they so twelve point there

the initial twelve coins have been decided that yes yeah we had we had ten

votes the last vote the tenth vote we actually ended up taking in the the

second and third place winners because they were I they were so passionate

everyone was really trying to win that last vote so we decided to bring in them

them in as honorary coins so sorry what are the twelve coins if you know

actually right here we go got it so so the twelve coins are Elektra Pat

coin strong hands oh yeah there's a strong hands going out there they're

funny HTML coin stipend coin D Bunyan coin BTC

Z flap X which was a came from flappy coin red coin and did you buy oh and

then a New York coin and social send were the two honorary coins that we let

on now remember people Adam is he's mentioning all coins are Adam is not

saying to buy these things in fact remember these all words are we giving

away their good I mean well yes they're earned through video whatever way you

want to say it okay yeah so and it's for newbies to get in if a newbie gets one

of these things and they can figure out how to use it and send it and store it

they're gonna they're going to be learning about cryptocurrency okay and

they are going to get it they're gonna they're gonna eventually learn up I'm

not this in these coins but a lot well they're they're not Bitcoin okay they're

one the Bitcoin is neo is Bitcoin so they're gonna want to turn them into

Bitcoin as some people maybe maybe this will boost some of these 50 öre coins up

the second tier coins I don't know good luck to them they're

obviously really entered the communities obviously know that in order to go from

60 or coin to a second-tier coin you got to start doing stuff

like this you gotta get your name so they're getting their names out there

that's great for them for me this is all about getting guys who play video games

to get cryptocurrency because there are there already they got tech minds

playing video games it's you know you can't do it all day they got a

transition into money making things they gotta transition the finance eventually

it's the perfect combo young guys a lot of energy technically savvy like to look

at computers though felt like cryptocurrency

awesome okay okay so when do you think it'll be fully functional is that that's

hard that's hard that's hard we've kind of you know not hit some of these

deadlines because of funding but we're still pushing we're hoping to have

something out by probably September some some decent scalable beta yeah so we're

looking at September and yeah we'll see how that goes it's been it's been it's

been a roller coaster but that's startup life that's crypto life yeah man

how's the a lot of people out there gonna be see my head I hadn't heard

about this yet so hey Mick he's he's out here in motion right now okay he if you

think this is why you go to events like the ones that I talked about him you go

to Los Angeles you go to Denver now then the next thing you know you're on this

show you're put you're talking it you're talking to a lot of people about it I

want you to get on more shows if anybody else is out there you want to help with

the marketing or whatever you think this is a cool idea check out his Twitter

retweet the stuff go to jalapeno dot IO learn about I mean I really think this

is unique this helps the ecosystem it helps the Cure if their currency

ecosystem is is gonna get more guys into it and then they're gonna think oh yeah

okay and girls like Gaby we talking ninety five get more people into it and

and it will flow into Bitcoin eventually so again you were in Los Angeles but

you're from color you're in Colorado and that's where we really hung out some

more in Colorado but again you're from Fort Collins which is it we I was in

Denver so tell what's the tech scene like in Fort Collins for Collins it's

it's a little more kind of biotech health tech there's some

things happening you know around computer science at CSU the university

here but I mean I'm I'm kind of kind of pushing the tech industry here I helped

start a non-profit last year called launch Naoko and I was really focused on

just you know giving entrepreneurs all the resources they need because this is

I mean this is not a this is not a dense town it's you know it's a it's a great

place to live they've they've got a lot of entrepreneurship a lot of breweries

and I think that's what's kind of that's kind of brought it up in the

entrepreneurial ranks but we're still we're still growing the tech community

here what is the crypt I've seen yet like are

there are there meetups there yeah I run the meetup we've got a couple a few

companies that have come out of here that are crypto base our radar relay

decentralized exchange they came out of Fort Collins there's another one called

Apollo Apollo Dae Apollo Dae is their website there was a company called stow

it that was they were gonna kind of be getting into crypto another company I

don't know if I could mention them right now but we've we've we got a handful of

a crypto companies come out at Fort Collins so vibrant how often do you have

a Bitcoin meetup how I I mean I want people were gonna be watching this for

Colorado be in motion go to the Bitcoin meetup when is it yeah so ours they're

typically the last Monday of the month and we'll have them just once a month

boulders got a lot going on there too they've got a meet up every Wednesday

the etherium or the the boulder blockchain meet up so they alternate

Wednesdays once at Boulder bids and then ones that galvanize there

yeah CSU has a crypto Club so I know the guys that run that so we're trying to

get some cross-pollination there CSU for those it's Colorado State right yeah so

color I mean you've got a unique opportunity in a bit to build a big

crypto scene because that's that's a great resource to have a bunch of young

people they should they should be learning about crypto they're already

playing video games so maybe there's there's a connection right there be in

motion and speaking of being emotion guys remember on July 9th and 10th I'm

gonna be at the Bitcoin rodeo calm in Calgary all the events I'm gonna be at

in July and August or linked below please check them out hope

I'll return to Colorado soon I'll check out Fort Collins I've never been I've

never been up there before uh do you ever get out you know we're talking

crypto here this is a little bit beat I don't know if you've ever heard of it

have you heard about this like the Wyoming initiative

yeah there was a lot of connection between Wyoming and and some of the the

I guess Colorado government blockchain guys Colorado actually took a lot of the

legislation at Wyoming passed and was was pushing it in Colorado state

legislation they didn't quite make it they missed it by one vote but it was it

was extremely promising and and a lot of good results that's why now there's a

12-person kind of a task force that was recently put together of a bunch of

Colorado blockchain entrepreneurs so yeah they're uh they're pushing a lot

here in Wyoming was a big part of that I haven't got to go check out their

ecosystem but I've heard some really good things it's it's pretty big I think

they I think what push this was they initially had banned a lot of things

around crypto and so this was like kind of the backlash response like hey we

need to go the complete other direction and I think they did a good job with it

yeah that that was it they were in the wrong direction and they flipped they

flip the switch like that and so you are not a far Drive fron there's you're

north of Denver so you're not a far drive from the Wyoming border though

people think of Wyoming is this backwoods type of place I mean it's not

far from Denver at all I mean it you can speed up there I'm sure the highways you

know open open road in the beautiful mountain west all right so what else am

i Frank I mean I don't have them any other questions right now but yeah I

mean you've got the floor here to talk about it uh some of the some of the

unique things that you plan to do just go ahead you know talk about education

talk about jalapeno whatever I mean III admire you for being in motion for

coming to both those events and this is is how you get your name out there

people yeah we got a hustle um I mean I kind of want to kind of look at like

what inspired all of this for me and it was it was dogecoin actually dogecoin

was the thing that got me into crypto and and I kind of I looked back at it a

lot and and realized was so important and powerful about it

because they were able to grow their crypto community faster than anyone else

at that time you know in December I think within a couple months they had

twenty thousand people on their subreddit which was just insane and what

they had done they had they had made it fun they had taken this seriousness out

of crypto as a way to let people just jump in and not have to worry about

anything it was a it was just treated like a game I remember seeing the the

reddit Doge tip bot people were just throwing around five thousand coins here

ten thousand I think I donated like a hundred thousand coins to someone at one

point because I was just like like why not you know this it's it's fun money

it's it's not serious and we can just treat it like a game and so there's

there's so much benefit in that context of of games you know be it an actual

video game or just playing around and so that's really that's really where I got

you know a lot of these ideas around taking alt coins and using that as an

introductory to crypto and Bitcoin that you know a fun community that is going

to differentiate some of these coins I mean what other way are they gonna

differentiate themselves ago they're gonna turn themselves into a fun coin

something for fun something people can appreciate and it's it builds the

community so you gotta have a strong community a uniting thing and it's got

to be a happy vibe because we've seen some of these all coins become toxic

communities yeah so you're you're you're a guy that's leaving them in a very

positive direction in motion type it again this is now I'm really glad you

mentioned that how this originated dogecoin I mean

everyone still smiles when they think that oh they just had Doge Caan the

other day and I wish I could have been there but yeah it was like what I mean

one of these coins that you just named who knows they might be the next you

know dogecoin is not the next dogecoin there's gonna be a next dogecoin right

there you go you try to make the next you're trying to help the next dogecoin

out and at the same time Google I hope one of them becomes the next dogecoin

cuz that means they'll have a huge community and then

it'll be a bunch of newbies too and they'll be in the crypto ammo bench

again the Bitcoin so yeah sure and I think there's gonna be there's need a

lot of interesting tech I mean some of these some of these all kinds are doing

some really cool stuff I think that's interesting text that's gonna it's gonna

make its way up you know like there are some coins that have adopted things that

dizzy byte made I think like digi shield and they're they're uh re difficult

targeting mechanism and so like we're seeing some of these things come up from

from alt coins that are going to be helping these bigger coins and helping

Bitcoin yeah I there's again yeah Bitcoin can incorporate anything but if

there is some unique and innovation from one of these do who you see that that's

the thing on some of these fifty or sixty or coins they might be doing

unique innovations we have no idea was we've never heard of them this is gonna

get them go to get them on the map a little bit because they're fun they're

involved with something fun but maybe one of these they'll they'll come up

with something unique and people will start thinking you know what I this

should be something in sauna this second level and Bitcoin or something like that

whoa yeah this no very good very good and these these coins are they're very

social and I think that's that's an important aspect you know particularly

around dogecoin there was of this very social movement I'm in crypto is a

social movement so when I see people putting out you know education videos on

on Bitcoin there I watched one the other day it was starting like let's talk

about money and then let's talk about the banking

system let's talk about all these things that disconnect the individual from

crypto it makes it like this thing over here and if we if we take this other

approach this fun more social approach that's it's just so much easy for easier

for people to walk into it and dip their toes in and start learning about it so

we've got it we've got to take a step back and understand how this is a social

movement and it's not just the technology technology is incredible it's

what's driving the social movement but it is still a social movement and so we

need to be understanding that and I think there are people that don't that

are maybe a little too deep into what the tech is and they haven't seen the

rest of what's happened here I think they're

some people kind of early in the you know new in the investing space moving

into this into crypto they see the tech they see blockchain they're all about

that they understand it but they don't understand the communities around it and

this is this is a very community driven movement everyone out there pound that

like button for the social approach that he's taken here III like this I like I

like where you're going yeah you definitely have a plan here it's it's

just got to get implemented more people got to hear about this thing and I think

it's I think it's gonna be very unique that's why I had you on the show because

I hadn't heard anything like this before I thought it was that you know great

demographics coming together but you've really elaborated on the social aspect

of cryptocurrency and how some of you know the detect something and detect in

the money kind of scare some people like maybe turn some people off sometimes

when in in the end it is very very social thing people need to know about

the ASP you know sometimes it gets into like gang warfare type of stuff - I

don't wanted to get that into that level there you know battling but uh no it is

it is on a social level and you're you're definitely trying to implement

that into this this initiative you're so like look at venmo venmo was is really

fun because it's actually fun it's a fun way to send money to your peers it's

another peer you know semi peer-to-peer solution that we don't want to give it

all that much credit but you know it's they've made it fun to where you can

post messages about you know payments that you make and you just you just have

a lot of fun that I've sent some very very interesting messages to my friends

when I make payments and it's just a social aspect that can be integrated

into money and just makes it more effective in terms of getting it adopted

indeed this shows social level will increase adoption because people feel

more comfortable with it is fun and yeah I it definitely this is uh this is some

good stuff okay so give his Twitter is linked to below the official jalapeno

Twitter is is linked to below how shoutouts to oh yeah please so a disc on

it's a conference coming up in Denver August third and fourth a friend hunt

fries putting it on on Fri and Zach wolf I think that's gonna be that's gonna be

really awesome they're they're not pitching i cos it's a it's a no i co

conference they're really talking about well just just making it easier for

beginners to get into the space and so there's gonna have they're gonna have a

lot of different sections of the conference it's gonna be at a boulder

theatre so it's right there on Pearl Street and it's gonna be a ton of fun so

I'm gonna be speaking out a panel there and where exactly is that again what

city Boulder Colorado Boulder in boltor okay so now again we've talked about

Denver for cons of both they're spread out but they're the same metro area and

everything and you will be speaking you'll talk about a jalapeno then yeah

I'll talk about jalapeno I'll talk about you know mass adoption you know that

that consumer-level mass adoption and what its gonna take to get into the

consumers hand and I think there's a there's another conference in Spain that

I might speak at I don't know the details on that one but yeah gonna be

get out there definitely get out there because I think more and more people are

gonna get pumped about it like I'm getting pumped about it it's just more

people need to hear about this definitely so that's what I've I've

given you this platform today and I think there are a lot of people

interested in it any other sad-ass you wanna you want to show hey I mean if

anybody knows any game developers that are interested in something like this

like we're totally down to have some preliminary conversations about that so

shoot them our way re at holla Panda IO is my email address so we're looking you

know any game partners to just talk with and kind of help us develop that side of

the product for them so so it's it's exactly what they need and works with

everything that they're that they're working with

yes hala PennDOT I oh yeah oh yeah well good if you go to the Twitter account

you'll see the correct URL spelling him and it's just re and re is actually spun

aar I yes like Avery yeah alright alright re well dude you're in motion it

was it was great to meet you in person it was great to have you here on the

show today you did a great job talking about

this you could everyone can see I'm pumped about it because I think in the

long run if this thing gets off the ground for real man the kids are gonna

love it the gamers are gonna love it they're gonna get their hands on crypto

some guys that never would have gotten any crypto as early as they're gonna get

into it are gonna get into it early it's gonna lead them in the Bitcoin more

innovation more social positive vibe coming out of this for crypto and crypto

sometimes needs that because sometimes there's a certain corners of crypto can

be you know toxic individuals again Bitcoin is hardcore baby that that's not

toxic that's that's running you know running wild baby running wild but some

of these coins you know people get down on them because the price is down know

this so this will be fun so I'll put the fun back into you know

adora during a bear market you need a you need something like this yeah I mean

look what crypto kitty I mean that was out I was in a bull market but crypto

kitties was able to get a lot of people using that and and transacting in that

really really fast so it's all it's all social it's all fun this is what's

really gonna drive adoption and we have to we have to create these things to

take crypto to the people instead of waiting for them to come all the way and

jump through all the bears to come to us exactly I think it'll be a lot of yeah I

keep on saying young people I mean gamers are young people so remember he

hopefully one of those coins will be the next doge coin bitcoin is the next

Bitcoin but maybe one of those guys is the next dogecoin all right everybody

that's it i'm adam meister the bitcoinmeister the disrupt meister

remember to subscribe this channel like this view shows with you check out the

notes section below pound that like button check out this rub maestro calm

if you want to see the craig ship video from earlier today in Hoonah i bike to a

When To Trim Your Hair? - Hair Growth Tips - Duration: 9:06.

we are in blog mode right now and the

reason for that is because today I'm

taking you to the hairdresser with me

because it is time for a fricken trim

hello everybody and welcome back to my

channel my name is Thomas if you're

brand new here and I make styling here

related videos every single week here on

YouTube so if that's your kind of thing

make sure you hit the subscribe button

and come back every single week

now speaking of trims I do get this

question quite a lot I get a lot of

people asking me how often should I go

and get a trim while I'm growing my hair

out or just in general how often should

I go and get a trim and it's actually

dependent on the situation that you've

got with your hair right now so if

you're looking to maintain your handling

so if you've got like whatever hair

length it could be sure it could be long

if you're looking to maintain that

length getting a cut out or a trim every

four to six weeks is great for that

however if you're growing your hair out

if they do recommend that you can wait

like four to six months before you get

your first trim whilst you're growing

your hair out and then getting it every

six to twelve weeks after that because

obviously you're growing the hair out

you don't want to be trimming it too

often because you're not gonna get any

more length on it right however I like

to break the rules all the time ever

since I've been growing my hair out I've

had like I've just been getting the top

part like because they used to have a

disconnected undercut right so I've been

getting the top trimmed the whole time

and I just completely left the sides and

it's been about what a year in two

months now since I've had a trim on the

sides and I don't think I will be

getting a trim on the sides until all of

my hair length matches so again today

when I go to the hairdresser we're going

down to Phoenix in fire which is Josh's

salon and I'm just gonna I'm literally

I'm gonna show you guys what I ask for

when I go to the hairdresser's and you

can just kind of see that because I

think you guys would find it really cool

but I hope that answers your question

about getting a trim so you just have to

depict where you are in your growth

cycle are you happy with your hair

length right now or are you still

continuing to grow it because that will

give you an indication of when you

should be going and getting your trims

but you should not avoid going and

getting a trim because it is very

important to contributing to your hair's

health when you leave the answer for too

long they do start to split and the

longer you leave a split end the more it

travels up the hair and fucks it up so

trimming is very important and yeah I

can't wait to take you down to the

hairdresser's so let's go

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

all right so we had just over at the

basin just is giving me a hair wash

before we do my trim and I just want to

tell you man it's a little Josh so

you've been cutting my hair for nearly

three years now I think I think coming

down to Phoenix and flyer this is the

gorgeous yeah well the salons been open

it will be for using organs and how long

have you been an expert head your

support

well I started my apprenticeship in

about 1997 I was 93 so yes so I started

my apprenticeship there in 97 and yeah

I've been working the industry ever

since nice and if someone wants to come

and get a sick haircut and they live on

the Gold Coast what number do they need

to call I can call zero seven double

five double zero seven four and you

won't regret it because josh is a great

hairdresser Thanks so what are we doing

with you today alright so I'm in here

just to get a trim up because of the

colder weather it's been getting a lot

more dry and I've noticed the ends have

been getting really bad II I still want

to keep like where might in the cup was

you know it was like high up here I

still want to keep all of this hair

fresh I don't want to touch that it's

more so just where the undercut like the

one here used to be I need to take about

an inch off it I think to get the ends

feeling a lot nicer and just clean me up

essentially but you know length off like

the bottom bit where my undercut used to

be because this is all I grown to about

ten and a half inches now and yeah I

just kind of want to make it make it all

even I don't

that bottom half until it all kind of

reaches the same length and that's as

simple as it needs to be guys easy

because they're at the backbone through

under here yeah that is actually very

similar to these bits are the short of

it yeah that's that shorter through here

but you're gonna remember because that's

going from here and your name is here

yeah so it's hella good to start okay

does that mean it might be a good idea

to chop a little bit off the bottom the

thing is like cutting off here I'd like

to weigh the banner high as well and

like the higher I wear the bun

like the more hair I need underneath

here and some of it doesn't reach it

doesn't reach already yeah and I like to

like really wear it nice and high so

maybe we can leave that bottom bit alone

like completely okay so you

realistically the length at the bottom

here yeah like from the ends of things

section if we do that will be longer

yeah so that it can that be laid in to

make it look like no I get cool so it'll

be kind of disliked as if you had a

light like a couple of layers cut into

that yeah because your length will be

slightly shorter yeah yeah it won't

match up yeah yeah that's what you

before I'd like to be straighten that

out

it'll still look at it so that it

marries together beautiful thanks Josh

[Music]

I always noticed this as well but when

you cut my hair when you cut down like

that what are you actually doing so what

I'm doing is I'm just actually whereas

I've cut your length quite solid yet to

get a good foundation in your haircut

but now I need to break that line up so

by drawing it and that's what we call

personalizing okay so you just go

through and I'm actually just breaking

up the solid line of the top and so when

the hair fall together cool method to

the madness I don't know much about hair

cutting it all but thanks for that Josh

[Music]

[Music]

all righty guys there we go we are done

my ends are looking a lot fresher I'm

just gonna tie it up now and get moving

I've got a lot of work to do today so

yeah I hope you guys enjoyed that and

I'll see you back home I'll get the

camera out again and I'll do a little of

a segment to finish up but essentially

that's what we've gotten done for today

so see ya okay so now I am back from the

hairdresser's and that is literally as

simple as it needs to be guys you just

get into the chair you tell them exactly

what you're after and then go on from

there and if a hairdresser ever does

like not do what you asked for

make sure you tell them that as well

like don't be afraid to say hey this

isn't what I asked for can we fix it up

or data it up I'm pretty fortunate Josh

always nails my hair so I'm happy with

that again if any of you want on the

Gold Coast and you want a good haircut

go to Phoenix and buy hair cuz it's

awesome I just have pinned my hair up

into a messy man bum particularly

because I did only go in for a trim

today and a tidy up I didn't want

anything extravagant I just kind of got

him to straighten it out and I think it

looks very beautiful I did ask Josh to

leave these sideburn bits and my baby

hairs at the back because a lot of you

guys have been asking me about that as

well so I wanted to document how I tidy

those up from home and I did ask him to

just leave them behind so yeah there

will be a video coming on that soon and

I hope you enjoyed I hope it covered

some really good tips in this video for

you guys I hope you got something from

it and let me know what you think of

this vlog style thing it is a little bit

different it was so weird going to the

hairdresser's without my big lights and

my camera but it was a little bit easier

and I'm trying to see where I make

things in my life a bit more simple and

that was just one way of doing it so let

me know how you found this video and

I'll see you next week for another one

hit the like button if you love this

video and subscribe for more videos

every single Monday and I'll see you

then good bye

[Applause]

you
