So who am I?
A fruitarian, raw vegan, vegan?
What is it all about?
I'm going to explain it all in this video.
Enjoy!
Hey everyone! It's Aga here.
If you don't know me yet,
on my channel I'm talking mostly about my diet,
about veganism, fruitarianism...
But also about living in the US,
about motherhood, pregnancy
so all of you will find something for you here,
I encourage you to subscribe to my channel
and come back to my channel.
If you don't know where I am,
I'm still in Costa Rica.
I'm in a place called Tanglewood Wellness Center.
I'll add a link to this center's website in the description
so you know what it's all about.
I'll also add a link to a video
in which I talked about this place
and why I came here.
While recording this video I'm still here
but when it gets published I'm already home.
I came here to undergo an over 20 day water fast
and today is my fifth day after I started refeeding.
And no, I still haven't gained my weight back
so I'm asking you for understanding.
Today I'd like to talk to you about
what I mentioned at the very beginning,
what it's all about, what labels are,
who I am, who's my daughter...
It's because I very often get comments saying that
you're not a fruitarian because you ate a tomato
or you're not a fruitarian because you had juice
with carrots in it...
And other like this.
So I though it's time to explain it all now.
And to tell you how I see this issue
and I hope it'll help you somehow.
I already told you in a different video
about what I think about labels.
I think that labels are...
definitely overused.
And that's why later you have problems like this.
Because if I say that
I eat mainly fruits
or I eat only fruits
or I don't eat meat or I don't eat dairy
then everything would be fine.
But if I say that I'm a vegetarian
or that I'm vegan and then let's say I eat
pizza that has a piece of cheese on it
then everyone will start remind me that
"you said you're vegan but you're not
because you ate a piece of cheese!"
So you see, people get a little bit too
attached to those labels,
they worry too much about them,
they worry about following them all the time,
if someone says yes I'm a vegan from today
and then by an accident eats something
like a piece of meat, totally accidentally somewhere
it just appears in a meal
or will eat a crepe in which there's an egg
because a mom made a mistake and used eggs
or really anything like this
there will be a mess because this person will hear
that she's lying, she's not vegan
So why to put any labels like this on yourself
and hold on to them as if you hold on for life.
I think it stresses people out too much
and everything seems to be so serious then.
Food and eating should be a pleasure,
it should be a healthy pleasure ;)
Something that we like and not something
that we have to do.
Because we need to live so to live we need to eat.
So we HAVE TO eat to survive and that's it
so that's why it's our unpleasant duty to eat this dinner.
If it comes to me and my family...
And by the way, you'll here some nature sounds here
because I'm in a beautiful place, well, life is life :)
So about me and my family!
If it comes to titles of my youtube videos,
I have to add some title to each one.
I have to write something
and it's good to keep it relatively short,
to have it pithy,
to make sure it gets people's attention,
depending on what it is.
To have people get interested in it,
to have them think "I want to watch this",
"this sounds interesting to me",
"I'll like this"...
"I'm curious about this, I don't know this"...
"I'll click on this because I don't know what it's about."
So it's also about getting as many peoeple's
as possible
so that the highest possible amount of them
will find out that there's
a better way of living,
better in my opinion,
that there's a way of living that
will give them health,
happiness and so on.
So I do have to add some title so that it will make sense
because I won't add a video without a title and that's
it's not even possible.
So this is one of the reasons [why I use labels in this case].
If it comes to definitions of those
two kinds of... vegetarianism...?
See, I don't even know how to call it.
I told you about them in a different video and
I'll link it in the description box too.
So take a look if you're still not sure what's what.
But remember that there's no such thing as a
firm definition
For example,
fruitarianism is a diet consisting of only OR mainly fruits
that allows eating lettuces,
spinach or romain lettuce let's say.
And that's not a problem.
And there will be people telling me that
I'm not a fruitarian because
I ate lettuce, for example.
So definitions vary.
Some people call fruitarians only those who eat
fruits that fell from trees by themselves only.
And unfortunately most of us live in climates
where it's not really possible.
So it'll be very rare.
It's also worth noticing that tomatoes, cucumbers,
bell peppers, avocado and even zucchini
are fruits, not vegetables, they're fruits.
But that's a different topic.
So we eat mostly fruits.
My daughter's diet is 99% a fruit diet.
My and my husband's too
but it happens that we eat something different.
It happens that I make a coconut tortilla let's say.
Some people say coconuts are fruits,
others say they're nuts...
I'll sometimes eat a cracker made of
nuts and seeds.
Some time ago I made a raw bread
made of some seeds and oats.
I took the recipe from Odmładzanie na surowo.
Those aren't fruits but does it mean that I can't
call myself a fruitarian because I ate something like this?
And we're back to labels :)
I don't want to stress about what I eat.
I don't want my diet, and by diet I meat my lifestyle
to be something that stresses me out,
that limits me in any way,
that makes me being forced to think about it all the time.
I eat what I like to eat and it just happened that
I feel like eating fruits the most.
So I eat them.
It's not that I force myself to eat them,
that I think oh no I have to eat this watermelon again,
or oh gosh strawberries for breakfast again!
Absolutely not!
I really enjoy eating what I eat
it makes me feel good,
that I feel better than before,
and this is absolutely not forcing myself.
So I don't want to look at this in a way that
if one day I think that
oh, like I told you a while ago in one of my videos,
that me and my husband went to a vegan restaurant
for our wedding anniversary.
And we ate cooked food
because they don't serve raw besides salads there.
Just because we felt like it,
it was our anniversary
and we thought we'd do something like this
because we just felt like it so we went there,
ate and that's it.
And does it mean I'm a bad, worse person?
That there's something wrong with me?
Absolutely not.
I felt like eating it so I did.
I feel my best when eating fruits, it's simple.
I have the highest energy,
in my opinion I look my best then,
my skin is the cleanest,
my teeth are the whitest...
I don't have any digestive issues and so on.
So that's why I eat the way I do,
because this way I feel the best.
Which doesn't mean I'm in some prison,
nobody forces me to do it,
I don't feel any responsibility
because of making videos on youtube
to eat this way even when I don't want to.
You know that if it happens that I eat
some wrap or something I do show it to you
if I make a video about what I eat that day.
And I don't have a problem with it even though
I sometimes get, let's say, beaten up ;)
And some time ago someone really had a huge issue
with the fact that my wrap (which was raw) also had
literally one teaspoon of couscous.
It was a tragedy that I ate a teaspoon of couscous.
Terrible!
So I'd like you to be relaxed about it too
not only to how I eat because, after all,
what I eat is my business,
but also to how you eat.
Of course there are some limits here
and I'm not going to say that everything is fine.
because it's definitely not in my opinion.
I think that a healthy diet
that a diet itself is a huge
thing, something very important in life.
But it can't be something that
prevents you from sleeping at night.
That you'll eat, let's say, a salad with mushrooms
and someone will tell you "oh you ate mushrooms
so you're not a fruitarian!"
and you won't be able to sleep because
someone told you that you can't eat mushrooms...
How our bodies work is that everything is connected.
Even if you think it's not...
it is, indeed.
Your digestive system, nervous system
is all connected.
Your immune system...
is very, very important.
The more stress and worry you have,
the worse and worse your immune system
will work.
And you don't want that because
it's there to protect you.
To help you heal
and prevent sicknesses.
Something like "oh god I'm vegan but I want..." whatever
or "I accidentally ate this..."
or "I'm a raw vegan
but I ate cooked carrots"
Don't beat yourself up for this
because you'll only get stressed out
and it just makes no sense.
I think so.
I think that there should be more relax in it all
Instead of beating each other up
support each other.
Because if you want to change a diet
from a traditional one, and I highly recommend this change,
to a veganism, fruitarianism, raw veganism
or however you want to call it
it sometimes requires some work.
Some focus, a lot of support sometimes.
Especially when we start having some detox symptoms.
And really, those comments like
you know when someone does something by an accident
or someone else will feel like eating a pizza
even though he's a fruitarian
and so he'll eat this pizza
and then he'll get comments from his colleagues
that what are you doing, how could you, you're lying!
Why?! You just bring each other down for no reason.
So this is a message I wanted to send to you
that I'm not in some kind of a prison
like some people think.
That I limit myself,
that I don't allow myself to have anything
Also, you saw that for my daughter's birthday
I made a cake
which was coconut cake and had no fruits in it.
So I'm not a fruitarian because I made a coconut cake :)
And it was delicious!!
Man, it was really, really good.
Take it easy :)
Instead of arguing with each other
who did something wrong,
who didn't fit into some norms,
who didn't match some label...
Who broke some "rule"...
Before you do that, take a look at yourself
and at how you eat,
how you put into your body,
how many drugs you take,
how processed the food you eat is...
And do that before you comment someone
who's trying
Someone who's changing something in his life,
who cares about health and life of his own kid.
And I'm not talking about myself only,
I'm not complaining in this video.
I just wanted to explain to you how I see it all,
how I see labels,
how it all looks from my perspective.
So yes, I'm a vegetarian because I don't eat meat.
I'm a vegan because I don't eat animal products
and I don't use animal products in anything I have in my house.
I'm a raw vegan because I eat raw.
I'm a fruitarian because
I mostly eat fruits.
So in general you can put me in each
one of those categories.
And I hope it'll make this situation clear for you.
And that there will be no such misunderstandings like
"who are you, Aga?!"
I'm Agnieszka, welcome :)
I'm a woman, a mother, a wife,
a friend...
And so on...
But I don't want to be stuck to one category
if it comes to food or drinks.
Or I'm a abstainer because I don't drink alcohol.
I don't smoke so...
I'm a non-smoker.
We can come up with tons of labels now.
So let's all take it easy!
I'll keep sharing with you my knowledge
that I keep gaining all the time.
My experiences that are still growing too
especially being here.
I'll keep sharing recipes,
and I have a lot of ideas :)
Advice how to do it all,
how to change your diet if you want to do so.
Why I think it's better and all that stuff.
I'll keep sharing all this
remembering at the same time
and also asking you to remember this as well
that each one of us has our own life
and we live the way we want
and the way we feel the best
And what others think about it...
why should we worry about it?
So yeah, I hope that
I made things a little more clear
and that this topic was interesting to you,
especially those who ask me about it often.
So that's it, I'm saying bye for now
and I'm going to make one more video now
so I'll look the same.
but that's ok, the nature is beautiful
so it doesn't change anything.
If you liked my video don't forget to subscribe

And I'll see you next time, bye!
