Youtube daily report May 1 2018

[Laughter]

- I just want to make people find romance.

- You want to trap them in a car…

- I want to trap them in a car for a while with me.

- This is weird.

- Are you Nneka?

- Yeah.

- You think you just got into a cab, right?

- Yeah… is this not a cab?

- You just climbed into Backseat Blind Date .

- Interesting…

- I have set you up with a guy

and we'll get him and then we'll go on a date!

Are you down?

- Yeah, I mean, why not?

- All right, let's go!

- Such a mystery!

- How do you feel?

- Nervous!

- What could go wrong?

- Hi. - Hi.

- Nneka, meet Hugh.

- Hey.

[Laughter]

- Nice to meet you.

- You're both officially on Backseat Blind Date .

- Oh, cool!

- This is a first for me.

My first blind date and my first date in a car, so...

- I think that you're going to

get along well and hopefully hit it off.

- So much pressure!

- You'll have three chances to

win money by completing dating challenges.

At the end of our journey,

you can decide to take the money, continue the ride,

and put it towards a real date,

or you can split the pot and go your separate ways.

- What's your deal?

You have a lot of spare cash that's just lying around?

- I just want to make people find romance.

- That's admirable.

- OK, here we go!

- Oh, this is weird.

-Your first challenge, This or That,

is going to test your compatibility.

I'll give you two suggestions,

and you'll write your preference on your board.

Every winning pair will get you $5 for your date.

Are you ready?

- Yeah, sounds good! Don't cheat.

- Your first option is: chocolate or vanilla?

- There's only one right answer.

- Wow, OK. Maybe I like a spectrum of flavors.

- How long is it taking you to decide? I only gave you two options.

- I'm trying to be neat. I'm sorry.

- All right, show me your answers.

Chocolate! OK, you won $5!

- Perfect!

- You are a little bit compatible.

- Well, I feel like it took him a little too long to decide.

[Laughter]

- All right, your next set is: morning or night?

Reveal your answer.

- Morning and night.

You are not compatible on that one; you do not win $5.

- Well, sometimes opposites attract.

Like, I need to wake you up in the morning,

and you should, like, probably keep me up at night.

- Your next set is: roadtrip or redeye?

Let's see 'em.

Roadtrip, redeye. Ooh, you're not compatible again.

- Oh, my gosh, you want to drive?

What?

- Apparently, I'm, I'm the worst…

- I hate driving.

- The next set is: home-cooked or order in?

Reveal your answers.

- Order in, home-cocked.

- What? Who are you?!

- Apparently, someone who likes trips and cooking and...

- Who likes to drive at night...

- OK, at least we'll still have chocolate.

- Which, I mean, honestly, what more do you need?

- In that challenge, you have won $5 out of a possible $20.

I don't think that you're very compatible at this point…

- I mean, you set this up, girl.

What, what were you thinking?

- Hugh, how are you feeling?

- I'm having fun.

- Your next challenge is going

to test your physical compatibility.

It's called Backseat Ball,

and in between, you'll find two baskets

that you're going decide who's going to give and who's going to receive.

You'll have 30 seconds to shoot as many as possible,

and you get $2 for every single one that you make into the basket.

Are you ready?

- Ready.

- And... go. Oh!

She shoots, she scores!

Doing pretty good.

- Crushing it.

- She's got a good throw.

- Rim.

- Hugh, what do you think?

- I think this woman is good at throwing

small basketballs into a trashcan.

- Are you impressed?

- I am incredibly impressed

by this very specific activity.

Good.

She's bouncing them off of the,

like, side of the can to, like, show off.

- Shut up!

- Doing this one-handed. Ow!

[Laughter]

- You had enough time to showboat,

hit me in the face,

and still get more or less all of the basketballs.

- Nneka, you made 34 baskets,

for a total of $68...

- Woo-woo!

- … combined with your $5 from the earlier challenge,

for a total of $73 towards a date!

And, we're going to move into our final challenge.

This one's called Pile Up,

and it's going to test how well you work together.

I'm going to give you a trivia question,

and you have to work together to come up with the answer.

What are the three primary colors?

- ...

- It's ROY-G-BIV.

- No, that's—those are the colors of the rainbow.

- Exactly, right.

- The three primary colors are

- [Together] Red.

- Blue.

- They're these ones, right?

- No, green is a combination of blue and yellow.

- So, then it's yellow.

- It's yellow.

- Yeah! I'm confident in this answer.

- Let me see them. Red, yellow, blue. That is correct!

- Yes!

- You won $100 to put towards your pot,

bringing your total winnings to $173.

- That's good, that's good.

- And now, you can decide if you want to take that money,

continue the ride, and go on a real date,

or split the pot and go your separate ways.

You each have a paddle that says,

"Let's go" or "We're done,"

and you're going to make the decision.

- Cool!

- Cool, all right.

- Think about the time you've shared in the backseat.

One, two, three.

Woo!

- Yes! All right, I'm so glad you made a connection!

- Me, too!

- I'm so glad I set you up. I knew you would get along well!

- Cool.

[Laughter]

- So, I'm going to take you to a dessert shop. Let's go.

Interview: MJ D'Elia on Privacy - Duration: 1:20.

Text on Screen: What does privacy means to MJ D'Elia (Head of Learning and Curriculum

Support for the University of Guelph) A Digital Learning Commons Production

MJ: Well I think privacy is about your ability to control or have control over the information

about you, basically.

Text On Screen: How do you think the idea of privacy has changed as technology has evolved?

MJ: Yeah I think it's changed, I mean it's probably always changing.

I think technology has probably accelerated that change a little bit.

I think with technology, with things like, signing up for new services, you don't realize

the rights you are probably giving away when you do that, in sort of trading for convenience.

But, I think we still have rights it's just less aware of them, as they sort of slowly

erode.

On the other hand, you have access to a lot more powerful technology and a lot more fun

things to do as well.

I think it's not so simple as trading your privacy rights for convenience, but I do think

that is accelerating the conversation around privacy.

Interview: Kim Garwood on the Impact of Library Resources on Students" - Duration: 1:09.

Kim: My name is Kim Garwood and I work in the library as the acting head of learning

and curriculum support.

Text on Screen: What impact have you seen library resources have on students?

Kim: Build their self confidence or help them recognize themselves as people with real skills

who can succeed.

So if students have been isolated or are feeling unsure, it can help to come to a space where

they can talk through their ideas and discover "Oh, I do have a lot to say", or come

to a program and meet other students and see "Oh, I'm not the only one who is experiencing

these challenges".

The other thing I think we do is we have an opportunity to intervene at key points and

give students a tool that might help them take things to the next level.

So, they're at a certain stage, and we can be there at that moment when we can say "Hey,

have you tried this?" and that just becomes a springboard for them to move forward with

their project.

Interview: Juliene McLaughlin on Creativity - Duration: 1:40.

Juliene: Hi, my name is Juliene McLaughlin, and I am one of two (2) User Experience Librarians

here at the McLaughlin Library.

Text on Screen: When are you at your most creative?

Juliene: When I have other creative people around me, and it's like 10-15 minutes into

the brainstorm so the really wild ideas are starting to come out.

Yeah, I think a lot of it has to to with the people around you and the environment, so,

feeling safe, and feeling like you can say anything and not be judged, so that has a

lot to do with your colleagues, but also a creative, fun environment I think helps as

well.

Text on Screen: What are some things that prevent creativity?

Juliene: Resistance to change, from colleagues, not being willing to just fail, or experiment

and then fail.

I know for me it helps that I work with someone pretty closely, who literally always says

yes to any of the ideas that I have, which are not always great ideas, but we do it,

and we learn from it.

Text on Screen: What advice would you give to someone starting a creative project?

Juliene: Just do it?

Why not?

That's it.

I think Nike made that slogan.

Digital Learning Commons Peer Helper: Final Project (Pam) - Duration: 1:42.

Being a student can be lots of fun.

Learning new things and meeting new people expands your mind and helps you grow as a

person.

One of the most amazing things about Guelph is the strong sense of community.

People here are approachable and compassionate, and even if you don't find your place right

away, I guarantee there's a place for you here.

When I first started university, I had a hard time making friends.

I was painfully shy and a lot of the people around me made me feel very much like an outsider

because of my sexuality.

It wasn't until I started volunteering with Student Life that I met other queer people

and found a sense of community.

The feeling of belonging has been integral to building the confidence to join other organizations

and meet people from all walks of life.

Within the Peer Helper Program in particular, I have discovered some of the kindest, nerdiest,

most dedicated people I've ever met.

I find myself inspired and excited to see how the Peer Helpers are going to continue

to impact the community, and I'm so eager to be a part of it all.

Interview: Doug Horne on the Disadvantages of Digital Communciation - Duration: 1:11.

Text on screen: Library Interview, A Digital Learning Commons Production

Doug: My name is Doug Horne and I am head of Discovery and Access

Text on Screen: What do you think is the biggest disadvantage of using digital communication?

Doug: It allows people to gather into groups of like-minded people, so instead of having

debates people just hang around people who agree with them.

That's what social media has done for them and that's a huge part of it and that means

people aren't investigating or debating issues like they used to.

They always talk about the echo chamber you just find a bunch of people who all say the

same thing as you and then you just hang around with and chant that thing over and over again.

Whereas previously, you would encountered more people who think differently than you

and had debates about them.

Digital Learning Commons Peer Helper: Final Project (Rachel) - Duration: 2:31.

[background jazz music]

So I'm graduating soon.

But it doesn't really feel like a destination anymore.

I think sometimes we like to think of university or college as the next rung on the ladder,

just before the capital C Career, but I've come to stop looking at things in such a linear

way.

As a student, I've often felt like I'm in this weird in-between space.

That so many of the things we talk about are the future or the past, where we came from

or where we're going.

Just when you start feeling like an adult, you realize that you don't know how to fix

your router, and life without Wi-Fi is hard.

Or you accidentally shrink your socks in a tiny washing machine on another continent

and suddenly wish you were a kid again so at least they would still fit.

I mean, I guess I should also mention that you can buy all the wine or cake that you

want from the grocery store, and no one's going to stop you.

I guess that's adulthood right?

Freedom and failure and finishing a whole season of Stranger Things only to find out

that the next one probably won't be out for at least a year.

And now, sometimes, there are the questions, that can feel like they're coming at me

from every angle.

What are you doing when you graduate?

Do you have any plans for the summer?

What is your degree in again?

What are you going to do with that?

So what's next?

And then what?

I used to be afraid of the future, the unknown.

Well, don't get me wrong, I still am.

But what scares me more is how quickly the last few years seem to have gone.

When I look back, they're a bit of a blur, but one I'm glad to have lived.

And to be moving forward with.

But being in transit isn't always moving.

Sometimes its stillness, while things move around me, and taking a minute to plan my

next move.

Or a bus never shows up, and my route changes, just like that.

Over the past few years, I think I've become more comfortable with being in transit than

I've ever felt before.

Sure, I've still got destinations to get to, but they might change, and I know that

I'll be recalculating along the way.

Caldon Canal - Stopped Due to Flood - 45 - Duration: 5:50.

Good morning. I've fully completed the Leek Branch of the Caldon Canal.

I've returned back to the junction and today it's time to navigate the rest of the

longer part of their Caldon and straightaway,

there's three locks to do, but so far it looks like they're in my favour,

so it should be quite fast going through.

[Music]

During dry periods, water was often taken from the Caldon Canal to supply the main

Trent & Mersey Canal. To solve this, a reservoir was built at Rudyard and the

Leek Branch was then constructed to feed both canals. However, the water needed to

be high enough to supply the Trent & Mersey. This is why there are three locks

at the junction and why the canal passes under the Leek Branch at Froghall.

The canal quickly passes out into lovely countryside and despite the rain, there

are signs spring is on its way. At the heart of the 20th century, the canal

traffic badly slumped, due to a new railway line being built. With little use

over the next 60 years, the Calden Canal gradually became unnavigable. However,

after considerable effort by the Calden Canal Society, volunteers and the British

Waterways Board, the canal was once again opened in 1974 and has remained a hidden

gem ever since.

At Cheddleton there are two mills, one to grind flint for the pottery industry and

one to grind corn. The neighbouring River Churnet has provided the water to mill

here since the Middle Ages, but the present grand structures date from the

period of the Industrial Revolution.

Make sure you're not standing over the vent holes at the lock here! Just to the

east of Bridge 44 is the preserved Cheddleton Railway Station. Having been

saved from demolition, there's a museum room here detailing the history of the

Churnet Valley Line. Heading towards Oakmeadowford Lift Bridge, which has its

lifting gear again, on the off side. I was very pleased to see it remains in the up

position, as default - Phew!

The quarry that the canal was originally built for is spelt Cauldon which is

different to what the canals name of Caldon. This was due to a spelling

mistake in the original act, which was never corrected.

So this is the end of my

journey down the Caldon Canal. It's been raining all day yesterday and it was

raining the night before and this river isn't a huge river and I've been told

that the levels can rise and and drop quite drastically, very quickly.

[Pheasant squawk]

Thank you very much Mr. Pheasant! Now the river is in flood and it's so high that it's in

the red marker, which indicates that you can't go on any further. So I've turned

around here and I will head back to Stoke. I've thoroughly enjoyed coming on

the Caldon Canal, especially with the fact that it forks and you can go up on

the Leek side which is quite high up, that reminded me a lot of the

Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal. And then down here on the rest of the journey,

down in the valley. It went past railway lines, lots and lots of walks around, it

can be quite thin at times, going through and under bridges. I've bumped into many

a wall and my navigation has been tested shall we say, but a really, really pretty

canal. I've thoroughly enjoyed it and it's very peaceful, very quiet and very rural.

You alright down there Mol? You alright? Come on then.

I've still got a number of electrical episodes to come,

as well as my travelling journeys and of course, boat fit out. So if you've

not already subscribed, please do. It doesn't cost you anything and by

clicking the bell icon, you'll be notified about future releases. Until

next time, see you later.

THE YOUTUBE PURGE PUT ME BELOW 200 SUBSCRIBERS. - Duration: 2:19.

Oh, yeah, oh yeah, this is good. This is that good ish although ladies and gentlemen

Hello, ladies and gentlemen,

this is Dante and welcome to my channel! If you're new here, I'm a Nintendo gamer

I'm a vlogger so if you want to, y'know, if that sounds interesting to you,

please hit subscribe because ya boy dropped below 200 subs.

So, it's kind of ridiculous, because I recently did a video,

where I did a 200 subscriber special, it was a question and answer and it was awesome!

Y'know, I had a lot of vulgar questions, so I woke up this morning, and I was like

"Oh wow, I lost a couple subscribers. Oh, no!" I was like, that's fine. Y'know, people don't like this kind of stuff

THAT'S OKAY. I'm not offended. It was pretty extreme because there were some pretty vulgar questions,

and it's not the kind of content that I typically upload so if that's not your thing,

That's okay! So I'm like chillin here

and I'm like trying to figure out exactly what happened and where these subscribers went, and then I get on Twitter

and I see that boogie2988

tweeted out that there is a subscriber purge going on right now. Okay, so a subscriber purge

we haven't had one in a while, so yeah, I guess we're kind of due for one.

So I'm just kind of chilling here, and I'm like okay. There's a subscriber purge going on. That explains

why so many of my subscribers have disappeared because I'm not exactly a big channel so whenever I take a hit of like... five

or six subscribers like I did, that's noticeable to me. Especially when it drops me to a whole different hundred number.

So I'm sitting here below 200 now.

I feel awkward just crap because I went through all the trouble to make this video and all these people went through the trouble of

commenting and now I'm sitting here with

a hundred something subs. I feel like a phony.

Then I see other YouTubers start to comment and say that y'know there's a subscriber purge going on right now.

That's why I'm kind of not freaking out as bad, but hey just kind of sucks cuz ya boy got dropped below

200 for a little bit.

I don't know if I'll be below 200 at the time of this upload. I'm gonna try to get back

y'know, cuz when you take an L, you just gotta bounce back.

K-12 Release 13.05 - Duration: 4:05.

Hi! My name is Bob and I'm part of the K12 User Education team at Blackbaud. Let's take a look at what's new for this release.

onBoard

Admissions Scheduling is now available for every onBoard school!

This feature streamlines the administrative work surrounding visit and interview management for admissions managers and

staff. From the onBoard dashboard, select Go to full calendar to view a specialized calendar that displays all school happenings as well as

enabling managers to proactively schedule Visit and Interview Openings.

Managers can also: Customize candidate snapshots, Associate admissions officers and/or accompanying adults to participants,

Access a student participant's onRecord schedule.

Create agendas for visits and interviews.

Add notes and rate interviews

One of the biggest features of Admissions Scheduling is the ability for candidate families to self-schedule visits and/or interviews.

Once enabled by the school, families can select Schedule an interview and/or Schedule a visit from the Admissions Checklist to select a

date and time.

Schools can also enable notifications for families, candidates, and participants that send updates, confirmations, and reminders for

scheduled admissions related activities as well.

Along with Admissions Scheduling, two customizable and interactive related lists are also available:

Visit & interview openings list, and the Visits, interviews & events list.

For more information on Admissions Scheduling, check out our recent blog post, view the webinar, or visit our help

documentation.

When working with Contract Lists in onBoard, admissions managers now have a few more columns to work with including:

Associated Responsible Signers and their email addresses.

The selected Payment Plan.

The Smart Family ID number.

Candidate Lists in onBoard have also received additional column options:

The candidate's selected School Program.

Parent email addresses with multiple entries separated by a comma.

Referral Text to show how the candidate heard about the school.

onCampus

New filter options have been added to the Gradebook Grades List!

Like the Students List, Gradebook managers can now use an Access filter to specify the role criteria being shown including:

Current Student, Past Students, Only alumni

onRecord

Clients participating in the Report Card Builder Early Adopter Program can look forward to a number of updates, such as:

Assessment skill comments can now be printed based on the new, corresponding option in the course's settings.

Course column sections can now be independently styled.

To learn about these updates and more, check out the release letter!

Scheduling season will soon be in full motion! To help get you prepared, feel free to check out our guide via the link in the release letter!

Summer is coming and that mean we're working on big and exciting things behind the scenes to prepare. Here's a preview of what's

coming!

The early adopter program for Blackbaud's authentication service is already underway.

We plan for all staff, at all schools to use Blackbaud ID to authenticate into the 'ON' products by this summer.

For details about Blackbaud ID, refer to the online documentation or view a recording of a recent webinar.

Last year, we introduced the SKY "look and feel" to the 'ON' products.

Now, after extensive study for feedback from users like you, we're taking another step in K-12 to align the user experiences for all SKY

products.

We're simplifying and updating the top navigation menus for school staff users of the 'ON' products. This update will move related

tasks closer together in logical menus, thus saving you time and "clicks," since you'll no longer need to regularly navigate between

multiple locations to accomplish related tasks.

To see a preview of these changes in action, view a recording of a recent webinar.

Remember to check out the release letter for details about features mentioned in this video and information about additional new features

and enhancements. As always, thanks for watching!
