Spotify is the world leader of music streaming, but you can also listen to audiobooks or even podcasts on it.
We operate in over sixty markets. We have seventy-one-million subscribers through Spotify Premium.
Our goal is basically to improve conversion rates from free to Premium.
It's very important first to understand what our users are looking for
One of the challenges is localization. At Spotify we have loads of local knowledge, we have great teams, they want to do a lot of localization for their specific markets.
In Germany it's quite surprising that the most streamed content is not music but is an audiobook.
We decided to launch a test with Optimize 360.
We wanted our users searching for audiobooks on Google to see a very dedicated landing page to audiobooks.
So in this case with the direct integration with Adwords and Optimize 360, when people have searched on Adwords for audiobooks only then showed them this page.
We did fifty percent of all traffic, we sent them on to the normal Premium page,
and then the other fifty percent of the traffic, we'd send them to a rebranded Premium page with a lot of audiobooks on there.
Optimize 360 made the process very easy. If we had wanted to run this audiobooks experiment without Optimize 360,
it would've taken a couple of months, but it took a couple of days.
The results were far above our expectations. The audiobook landing page had generated
an increase of twenty-four percent of Premium subscriptions.
Before Optimize 360 we weren't even testing anything. It has changed the way Spotify
is trying to be more and more locally relevant across all of it's markets.
A/B testing is about learning about your customer.
It's still important that we learn our lesson from it and that's why we want to do as much testing as possible.

NBCs Megyn Kelly on Tuesday questioned Starbucks new policy that allows non-customers to sit in the stores and use its restrooms, saying that it could lead to a mass of homeless people occupying cafes.
Kelly shared the criticism as a panel on her show Megyn Kelly Today discussed Starbucks anti-bias training that is taking place Tuesday in more than 8,000 stores across the country.
There are places for the homeless, Kelly said.
In New York City theyre pretty good about providing churches for homeless to go and get meals and so on.

The new Starbucks policy came in response to two African-American men being arrested after sitting in one of its stores in Philadelphia as they waited for a friend.
Starbucks employees are now expected to view anyone who walks into its stores as a customer, regardless of whether they make a purchase..
One of the key pieces within the policy is the respectful request of customers to behave in a way that maintains a warm and welcoming environment, Starbucks said in a statement.
More than 175,000 employees are taking part in anti-bias training at Starbucks stores on Tuesday.
Discussing racism and discrimination is not easy, and various people have helped us create a learning experience that we hope will be educational, participatory and make us a better company, CEO Howard Schultz wrote in an open letter.
He added that the events that took place in the Philadelphia Starbucks store were reprehensible.
Kelly also called out Starbucks for the rapper Commons participation in the anti-bias training, charging that he has a history of homophobic lyrics and derogatory remarks about women.

Fourth federal judge blocks Trump's cuts to teen pregnancy prevention
A fourth federal judge has ruled against the Trump administrations decision to prematurely end grants aimed at cutting teen pregnancy rates.
Judge John Coughenour in Washington state ruled Tuesday afternoon that the administration unlawfully ended grants two years early for the King County Health Department in Seattle, which participated in the Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) Program.
This ruling is such a relief, as we are so close to the finish line for completing this study and building an evidence base for sex education nationwide, said Patty Hayes, director of public health for Seattle and King County.
The ruling is significant as a class-action lawsuit filed by the remaining 72 grantees plays out in court.
Federal judges have now ruled in four different cases involving nine TPP grantees that the administrations actions were unlawful.
The rulings mean the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will have to process applications for the final two years of funding.
The HHS last year sent notices to grantees informing them that their grants would end two years earlier than originally planned, arguing that the program was ineffective.
Trump appointees at HHS are pushing to give the TPP program a greater emphasis on abstinence education.
Under former President Obama, the program mostly funded comprehensive, evidence-based sex education, which includes teachings about contraception and abstinence.
