Youtube daily report Jan 1 2019

Hi my name is Spiridon and I'm the founder of the Firestarter Magazine and

the case you never heard of the Firestarter Magazine

let me just shortly explain what all this is about.

The Firestarter Mag is highlighting international events for creatives.

Their speakers are interviewed by us and we also publish

their talks which they gave at said events. I feel like the community really needs

an overview and especially a network that informs about

WHO you can meet and WHAT you can learn at WHICH event

The magazine is printed twice a year with currently 5,000 copies each

which are given away for free to all attendees

of partnering European events. The mags can also be downloaded through patreon

Gumroad and Cubebrush. So the concept seems pretty altruistic at first and the

work that a product like this takes is usually something a team would handle

but in case of firestarter it works a bit different so the last magazine was

created with the help of 60 people including interviewers, interviewed

people, the artists who create the portraits, the cover artists and even

organizers and their assistants. So the other tasks like finding sponsors,

marketing, corresponding with the contributors (new and old ones)

and laying out the whole magazine to get it printed are on me

and frankly said I really love it.

The problem is to accept the help of so many people with no perspective

on compensating them for the work and as we all know free work stinks.

So this is what I'm calling for the support of the community

to help me giving back by asking my readers to give back.

We have proven for a year now that this altruistic model works and that the

framework is there. We also have proven that working together for a bigger cause

is possible and the people in the community that we actively help are the living proof.

So starting next year (I'm recording this right now end of December)

so starting 2019 Firestarter is launching a monthly edition of the

magazine which will be bringing like 10 additional webzines a year (additional

to the two big ones) that contain tutorials, interviews, lectures, reviews of

crowdfunding campaigns, of books, of Patreon accounts, but also more art from you guys.

The project launched on April 2017 and in a matter of months we were

able to go from 400 copies of THIS to 5000 copies of THIS: 80 pages in an A5 booklet

to 184 pages in A4 magazine, so thanks to the support of the companies

and Studios we were able to print all together 12,000 copies of the map since

it launched and they all found their way into the community's hands through the

partnering events. Through a newsletter system we are also informing subscribers

about upcoming events and new articles on the page.

See how Firestarter can become even better than before

with fair compensation and a common goal

to cultivate this community that we love to be a part of so much and yeah that's it

so thank you for your time and tell your friends about this

if you want to be a part of Firestarter and want to create content or suggest

someone who could create content please just contact us through the website

there is a little form where you can enter all the information and we will reply in really short time.

Thank you very much!

Let's Talk About Santa - Duration: 5:41.

Hi everybody, I'm Amanda the G and Ollie did not want to leave my side today, so he's right here next to me

I'm gonna see if he'll sit in the chair though because I need my hands

I promised that I would make a video of all of the things that I got from my reddit Secret Santa

and that's what this is

so the first thing that I got is a fleece throw blanket

I don't know how I just hurt myself picking this up

But I just did

it's

purple fleece throw blanket

I did mention in my little bio thing that I'm always

cold because I am always cold

and then Ollie got dog treats

I have given him one of these dog treats

it is sitting on my couch hidden

along with three of the dog treats from the

The advent calendar

there's three that he has not eaten. I think there might actually be a fourth one somewhere

He doesn't always eat treats.

It kind of depends on the treat and it depends on if it's good enough

Usually the peanut butter dog treats he eats so I don't really understand why those are still around

These do not seem like something that he's going to just scarf down

I don't really know why

I probably should have written something in there about like

Please don't get my dog treats because he literally will not eat the vast majority of them.

Now the dehydrated chicken

he'll eat that but if you give him like one of the pig's ears

He will lick it and stick it underneath my pillow, and it's disgusting

So this he's just kind of sniffed at so we'll see if he ever eats them

Then I have to mention totally not sponsored because there's a giant Starbucks thing right here

One of the Starbucks cups with the the straw.

I've actually debated purchasing a Starbucks cup with a straw in it

I did debate b- getting a bigger one than this like the

super big one and not one that just

has red and Starbucks

I don't know if I can

remove that somehow and change it to something else

but I've thought about getting one of these just not for like coffee or

Potentially for like iced coffee when I have it, but just for drinks at general

cause I do like drinking from a straw

I feel like it makes me drink more

I'm happy that I got this but I also would have preferred that it didn't come in the exact way that it did

Which is one of those little gift kit things

Because I did specifically say not to get me food

Because I have all sorts of dietary restrictions and

it's very hard to feed me and I know that but this came with a little kit of the

Instant iced coffee which is pre sweetened and I drink my coffee black and not instant and

the shortbread cookies which are pure butter

so if it weren't for the butter, I could- it'd be fine

But I get it. Like, I said I like absolutely

everything coffee and tea related and I do actually really like this and I'm very excited about this

but at the same time I'm like, could you not have just gotten me just this because the other ones that

They're either gonna get given away or get tossed

I know it's like, it's the thought that counts and I I do appreciate that and I also appreciate

Knowing from them that it wasn't going to be wrapped on the inside

Like they flat out said I didn't wrap anything on the inside

So I just took the whole box itself, wrapped the entire box, and put it underneath my tree

So I had something to unwrap

it is what it is

Will I do the reddit secret santa again? Yes. I most definitely well

I think it kind of depends on the person you get and how well you mesh with them how well you kind of

do things and I think I'll write a little bit more in my bio maybe a little bit differently

Maybe word some things a bit more strongly and all of that.

Although it is stuff that I appreciate it's kind of like

Surface level stuff

and I feel like I included a lot more in my bio

But if the person who's doing this Secret Santa ever sees this like I do appreciate it. I did write a thank-you

I do appreciate it. And I did rate it pretty high over well- overall because I do think it it

is decent

this was a lot of stress for me

unfortunately, because

My gift did not get sent until like a week after the shipping deadline

and there was no communication at all whatsoever

before that time

And then it was shipped and then I was told with it with a message. Oh, I just shipped it

Whereas if you had just I don't know sent something by the shipping deadline

saying hey, I'm gonna be a little bit late

I'm sorry, but it is gonna ship and it will reach you by Christmas

That would have been a lot less stressful than sitting there

Wondering if you're just gonna not get a gift and then have to wait and hope to be rematched

So that kind of sucked because there are people that just don't send anything

quite frankly those people stuck and they do get banned

anyway

so that's what I got from my reddit Secret Santa

if you want to know what I gave to my reddit Secret Santa I already

made that video so you can go and watch that

Maybe I'll like put a link to it somewhere and probably I'll forget to do that

So, you know just go back and look, or it might end up actually showing up as a recommended video after this

I don't know

I don't understand the YouTube algorithm

because I don't think anyone does

if you liked this video, click the like button and subscribe to my channel

I make a new video every Tuesday and Friday.

Thank you guys so much for watching

MWAH!

this is the best I could do matching today

does it match?

I'm about to leave my house.

So hopefully it kind of matches because I need to go to the grocery store

Are Photography Degrees Worth It? | Should You Major In Photography? - Duration: 2:35.

What's up guys my name is Donovan Wagner and today I'm gonna answer a question I

get asked a lot, "do I need a photography diploma to succeed in this industry?

Alright so disclaimer I was 100% self-taught so this is just strictly my

opinion but when I'm asked this question the answer is: no. you do not need a

photography diploma to succeed in the industry so many people out there like

myself just kind of learned through YouTube tutorials. They'd go into a few

workshops here and there and in the end you've probably saved yourself a lot of

money as opposed to going to school for photography. I think you're far better

off just kind of learning as you go and maybe spend your money on your gear or

workshops, travel the world a little bit and just bring your camera everywhere so

that you're learning always. There definitely is some pros to going to

school for this but really the only things that I would say you're gaining

out of that is that yes they'll teach you the business side of things that

you'll need to know when you're starting out a small business for photography as

well as the confidence it's gonna give you when you're completed your course

you'll be definitely more confident to go up there and sell your work. A few

cons I see with going to school for photography is that not only is it

really expensive but we're also in an ever-changing industry so look at people

that were shooting back in the film era and how much has changed too now with

digital. It's more important to learn something new every day rather than

think that if I go to school for two years I know everything I need to know

about photography. So keeping an open mindset and continuously going to

workshops is far better use of your money and time. If you guys agree or

disagree with me leave a comment below let me know if you went to photography

school or maybe I missed some things but this is just my short answer to the

question I get asked a lot. No you do not need a photography diploma to

succeed in the industry. I hope this helps guys and if you like what you see
