Hello family, be all welcome; The effects of climate change and human activities
such as agriculture, poaching and illegal trade are among the main causes
of the danger of extinction of some animal species. Throughout 2018, various environmental agencies,
such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature,
have been warning about critically endangered species. Some have become extinct in their habitat
and others have seen their population reduced, being in danger in 2019. That is why I bring you
a list of animals that unfortunately no longer walk in this world with us,
which have been declared extinct in 2018
Blue macaws or 'Spix' (Cyanopsitta spixii)
One of the most 'mediatic' disappearances of last year was that of the blue macaws, called 'Spix' macaws.
Its plumage includes several bluish shades, with the head,
wings and tail more pale than the rest of the body.
Famous for the children's film Rio, this specimen has completely disappeared from the wild,
and the only hope of the species lies in the nearly 80 specimens in captivity,
which is expected through various programs of the Brazilian government,
be reintroduced to nature and thrive in the jungle.
Eastern Puma (Puma concolor)
At the beginning of 2018 the eastern cougar (Eastern Cougar) was eliminated from
the list of endangered species, because no specimen had been seen in its habitat
in the last 80 years as experts believe that the last population of this species
disappeared at the hands of hunters in the state of Maine in 1938. However, the animal was already
declared extinct in 2011, at least its subspecies. This point is important,
since there is a debate about whether it really can be considered extinct, since this puma,
in fact, belongs to the species 'Concolor' (American lion). The particularity of these eastern pumas
is that they have a little smaller head than their 'brothers' from the west, for example.
Native to northwestern North America. In 1973, the puma of eastern North America
was included in the list of endangered species. In 2015, the Federal Register
published a request to exclude the animal from the list, and finally on January 23, 2018
the communiqué was issued where it has been officially declared extinct.
A real tragedy for our planet!
The po'o-uli (Melamprosops phaeosoma)
Po'o-uli has also been declared 'extinct' in recent months.
It is a bird that lived in the Hawaiian archipelago. Its name means 'black head'
and has not been sighted since more than a 2017. In 2004 a male was captured,
with the intention of achieving its reproduction in captivity. But when not finding a female,
and by the subsequent death of the captured specimen, the disappearance of the species has been verified.
The northern white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum cottoni)
This majestic species of rhinoceros can be considered virtually extinct.
The last northern white rhinoceros male left in the world, called Sudan,
died in March 2018, leaving this subspecies on the verge of complete extinction,
since only two females remain alive on the planet: Najin and Fatu, both descendants of Sudan.
The animal had been suffering health problems related to age, in addition
to a series of infections, according to a statement, issued by the conservation center where the rhinoceros
spent his last years, in the OI Pejeta Nature Reserve of Kenya.
Of 45 years of age, about 90 if they are equated to human longevity, their condition worsened
to the point that they lost mobility. Therefore, the officers made the decision to perform euthanasia.
Now the last hope of this species is assisted reproduction,
which little has been shown for years.
For centuries the human being has developed without being aware of the short,
medium and long term consequences of his activity. Little interest has shown in the footprint left
on the planet and its biodiversity, there is no doubt that this list is unfortunate,
and unless each person on the planet takes the initiative to make beneficial changes in favor
of the conservation of species and natural resources , our mother earth in a few decades would be,
alone, cold and dry, I invite you to leave your opinion in a comment,
surely there is some species that I did not include in the list.
And here family, subscribe, like it and share if you liked it, I'm Randy, a hug and see you next time!
