- It's time for a bus tour with
the Canyon SRAM women's team, let's go.
(upbeat music)
(knocking)
I don't think there's anyone in,
but I'll just knock in case.
Here we have the main seating area,
which just about has space for six riders.
Now this is where Lars the bus drivers sits.
He's very kindly let us do a bus tour,
at the last moment with no notice.
After driving overnight from the Giro Rosa,
all the way to France for La Course
by Le Tour De France, good man.
Tiny, tiny shoes.
This bus is super well organized,
and there's loads of storage space.
Let's take a look in the funky cupboards, starting here.
Ah a TV screen, I think it folds out as well,
but I'm not gonna fiddle with it
just in case I can't fold it back.
Towels, oh no they're little flannels.
At the end of a race the soigneur comes up,
and they get that nice, cold fresh water
and they rub your face down so you don't look as filthy
if you have to go on the podium,
or even if you don't have to go on the podium.
Nice touch, spare kit, musettes.
I think that's a musette, it is.
Nice, freshly folded, better put it back.
Under here we have a shopping bag.
Some random stuff.
A spare pair of shorts, interestingly,
and a charging cable, which you can't get out,
because it's trapped behind a light.
Over on this side, what have we got?
More towels, laundry bag, clean sheets.
I guess for a massage, nice, all very, very neatly folded.
What's down here?
Le Tour De Vin. (speaks in German)
'By Bike Through The Wine Mountains.'
That sounds like an excellent ride.
I should definitely do that ride.
Canyon SRAM Racing, some cool stickers.
Ah cool, or not so cool.
That would have been stickers for a time trial at a race.
Cool, very cool, I wonder which race?
Moving along, what's in here?
Chamois cream, very important.
Apparently it's luxury chamois cream.
No one would want anything except luxury
in their chamois cream would they, frankly?
Wet wipes, Action Wipes,
for when you can't shower, nice.
I've been told that there's storage
under all of these seats as well
but it's really hard to get at, so let's try one.
I like the fact also that the team bus
has towels protecting the seats,
that are in team purple, very nice that.
Ooh there's a food stash there, that does look good.
So what have we got?
Buchweizen, that's buckwheat.
We've got lentils, coconut chips, nuts,
seed mixture, honey, hazelnut spread.
Muesli, dried mango, rice.
I don't even know what that is?
Bulgar wheat, yum, healthy and delicious.
Chia seeds I can see, mm, yum.
Someone's a good cook on this team I reckon.
It does feel a little bit like a Tetris Cube,
in that if I get it wrong...
Phew, don't wanna break the bus.
What a nice little touch, these are the teddies
you get given on the sign-on,
for the Women's Tour of Britain.
I think there's quite a few, "Hello."
This one appears to be a Yoga teddy,
he's very flexible, from the Warwickshire stage.
Reading light for the driver, very nice.
Some very, very clean toilet despite,
six people using it for the whole Duro, impressive.
Also, this is really cool.
This is podium flowers from the Duro,
still in the sink, just trying to keep them alive.
How awesome is that?
Now to the kitchen area, which is the finest part
of any home I reckon, even a mobile home.
Let's look at what's in the cupboards.
That looks like it is SIS gels, hmm,
and suncream which is also extremely important.
What flavors, raspberry, citrus.
Hmm, double espresso flavor, that's always handy.
Coffee machine, also extremely important.
It looks like it might be an espresso.
What I think is extremely cool,
is that they have real china cups
rather than horrible disposable cups.
A nice big one too, there's a decent
size cappuccino in there.
This looks like it's the admin draw.
Radios, pens, safety pins, tape.
That's for taping the radio.
You could tape your radio earpiece to your ear with that.
That would be physio tape I guess, yeah.
You can also use this tape to write
the important things of the stage on the tape
and then stick it to your stem,
so you know what's coming up in the race.
Pens, very important obviously.
Cutlery, a grater, ah now this makes me happy.
It's always great to see a decent grater in a kitchen.
Stove top, is it?
Yes, gas I think.
Privacy, daylight, nice.
More chamois cream, in the kitchen.
You wouldn't wanna use that on your sandwiches
by mistake, I don't think.
Olive oil, vinegar, condiments.
I think this the condiments draw, nice.
Ooh, I've broken it again, I'm gonna be in so much trouble.
Oven.
Freezer.
Fridge, now Lars told me I can look in the fridge.
Hmm, sandwiches, grapes, a lot of eggs.
I think that's muesli for tomorrow's breakfast,
ready mixed Bircher muesli.
Some wine, that is probably for the staff I would guess.
Everyone loves to find out what pro riders eat, right?
Hazelnut spread, yum.
More cupboards, this bus is full of cupboards.
It's amazing, so much storage space.
Oh this is cool, so, spare helmets,
in case of crashes and breakages of helmets.
This I've been told is the podium bag.
So someone gets on the podium,
Lars runs to the podium with this bag which has
a clean jersey, clean shorts.
Everything you might need to tidy up
and look presentable on the podium, very important.
This is apparently the crash bag, less good.
This has got all the first aid kit
for when the riders crash, or if they crash.
Hopefully it's an if, not a when.
Race radios, that's presumably the charging unit.
Kinesiology, Kinegio tape, very important.
This looks like it's the SIS cupboard.
Branch Chain amino acids, building blocks of proteins.
Beta fuel whatever that is?
More Branch Chain amino acids, in grapefruit flavor even.
More isotonic hydro tabs, lemon and lime gel, yum.
To the back of the bus now,
where the cool kids sit, I assume?
All the rider's helmets lined up,
ready for tomorrow, race day.
All named, which is kinda cool, very cool.
These are the wet weather bags,
that go in the car in case of rain.
There's all separate compartments, that's so cool.
So rain jackets and vests, shoes and covers.
Elena, car one, that's very neat.
Ooh, wrong way round.
Obviously, the former Italian Champion has a shoe bag
in her National Champion colors, very cool.
More cupboards, it's like a cupboard tour of discovery.
Waffles, very important race food.
Morbido means soft in Italian, soft waffles.
And to go on the waffles they have agave syrup.
This is spare kit, so in the case of someone
unfortunately crashing and ripping a jersey,
this is where the spare kits all stored
and of course it's all personalized.
Because it's gotta fit and also
they have lots of national Champions.
(speaks in German) So that means,
breakfast gruel I suppose is the closest word.
It's like a porridge but this one's made of farro.
I don't know what farro is, wheat?
I think it's wheat, wheat porridge.
There you go, storage at the back,
bathroom, kitchen, seating, storage everywhere actually.
This bus has just been full of delightful cupboards.
A lot of punch packed into a very small space I feel.
Thank you very much to Lars for letting us tour his bus
and good luck to the girls,
in their race in La Course tomorrow.
