How can we smell things? - Duration: 1:28.

Smart Learning for All

How can we smell things?

I do not have a nose.

So, how will I know?

At the back of our nose, there is a tissue called olfactory epithelium.

It is covered with mucus.

This tissue has specialized neurons called olfactory receptor neurons.

There are about 40 million olfactory receptor neurons.

These neurons are chemoreceptors, that is, neurons which detect chemicals.

Wow.

They have a cool name.

Now, when any substance releases its smell or odor, the odor consists of chemicals.

When we breathe in, these chemicals enter our nose.

When they reach the olfactory epithelium.

The chemicals get stuck in the mucus causing them to activate the neurons.

As a result.

These activated neurons send signals through the olfactory tract to the brain.

Informing it about the smell.

Apprentissage 2.0 en Inde - Entretien (Sylvain Choin et Pierre-Yves Meunier) - Duration: 3:10.

Hello! Can you please present yourselves?

I am Pierre-Yves Meunier,

Academic Director of Alliance Française de Delhi.

And I am Sylvain Choin,

Director of the Alliance Française de Chandigarh.

Can you tell us about

the training which is currently taking place

in Alliance Française de Bombay?

For example, what have you learnt during the same?

This training is

Marketing-centric and focusses on the

utilisation of the platform

proposed by the Fondation Alliance Française

i.e. Apolearn

and specifically on

the conditions surrounding its availability

and sale

for our public.

It was an occasion to reflect,

to exchange and to work on

the best way to integrate

Apolearn in our offer of courses.

It also enabled us to find

tha arguments in favour of

and the most effective way of selling the same.

Of course, one cannot forget

all the financial aspects

which arose from the same.

Moving on to the next question,

would you know what

your competitors are doing in the digital domain?

Yes, in the sense that

we have a list of

our regular competitors.

Talking of Delhi,

we don't really have any competitors

who are working

in this specific area.

Like Pierre-Yves just said,

we regularly take stock of our competitors

in the Indian context.

We have this in common with Delhi

that our direct competitors

don't really utilise

any such tools.

To conclude,

how are you going to integrate

all that you learnt during the training

in the Marketing Strategy

of your Alliance?

As soon as I return to Delhi

the next week,

we will start with meeting all our teams

including the Reception,

the Cultural Team, the Courses Team, the Library etc.

Everyone should be on the same page.

Everyone should also be on an equal footing

in terms of information

to be able to promote the tool

homogenously and to a large public.

And you, Sir?

To begin with, it will be

a moment of exchange at Chandigarh

to ensure that everybody is aware

and that the information circulates well.

Following the same, we have to look at the

real and physical integration of the tool

in our offer of courses

in terms of what we propose

on different platforms.

This will be followed by integrating the same

in our classes

in the next session.

Next, we will have to look at the constant promotion

of the platform via our professors

so that its utilisation continues.

Eventually, we will

look into customer loyalty

and to target new demographics

with the upgradation of our offer of courses

offered by this platform which enriches

live, classroom interactions.

That will be all, thank you!

It was our pleasure!

Eggless sweet bread with nuts - #CocinaConFlandy - Duration: 5:54.

Hi everybody I am Andy!

And today we are going to make eggless sweet bread with nuts

The first thing we have to do

Is weight our nuts

This time i will use just walnuts and almonds

Because i don't like the candied fruit

So just for my taste, i will add walnuts and almonds

And obviously if you are going to use candied fruit, you have to be sure that i doesn't have egg

After this we are going to add some rum

And 5 cloves

Meanwhile our nuts hidrate with the rum

We are going to mix the butter

With the sugar

You can make it with an electric mixer, i made it with a whisk because it was quicker

As always we have to reconstitute our egg substitute

And then we add it to the mixture

We mix this well

And we add the coffee

After this we add the water

And finally add the flour in parts

So we can mix this well

Are you asking why i didn't use the essence to make this bread?

Because it is produced in the same lines that some products with egg

So we can't use it

If you see, is a very heavy dough

That requieres a lot of arm work

But it does taste very similar to the sweet bread i used to eat when i wasn't allergic

You can add cinnamon or nutmeg but i don't like those flavors

Now we have to take out the cloves

So it doesn't cause an accident if someone eats it

And putting the fruit in the dough

Now we mix this well

So there are nuts in all of the mixture

In a mold, we have to put some butter

So the dough doesn't stick to the sides of the mold

With a spoon we are going to put the dough in the mold

The idea is to smash this dough

So it take the form of the mold

Now we are going to put the bread in the oven

Medium heat, 180 celsius degrees

For approximately

35 to 40 minutes

We now that it's good when we put a stick in it

and it come out dry

This is how it should look like

Is very similar to the recipe with egg

But the dough is a little bit inestable, so wait it to cool down before taking it out of the mold

I hope you enjoyed this recipe and have a great day!

Why Not To Trust The Change Engine Oil Light - Duration: 3:17.

one, two, three, four!

Rev up your engines!

It's time for the Scotty Kilmer Channel

Today I'm going to talk about if you should trust those little warning systems in your car

that tell you when it's time to change your oil,

now theoretically they are complex systems that take into driving speed, all kinds of

things, and tell you when it's time to change your oil, but really, I've seen too

many problems with them and I would not trust them, as an example, take this Yukon,

the lady drove it until it said it was time to change the oil, and guess what I

found, when I drained the oil out it was this black horrid stuff, and this is all

that came out, about a quart and a half of oil, and the engine holds six quarts,

so trusting that stupid system that tells you when to change the oil, hey, it

might have led to some internal damage on this engine, I'm going to put some additive in

to try to help it out, but you don't want this to be something that

happens to you, and realize this happened in a vehicle where the system was

actually still working, I seen them where the system just stopped and never told

them they needed to change their oil, and that led to some engines blowing up,

because they never got a warning, so they never change their oil, so really, do like

I do, go to your memo on your phone and just type in when you want to change

the oil and how many miles or what date it needs to be changed, I do like I do, the old

style, write in a notebook, throw in a glove box, then you know

it's there and you can look at it every once in a while to see when it's time

because these electronic warning systems, hey, sometimes they're just a moneymaker,

you'll wear your engine out faster, then you're going to buy another vehicle, so

I don't trust them, because this Yukon, it's got one hundred and twenty one

thousand miles, it's well out of warranty, so if the engine goes out guess who pays

for it, certainly not GMC, it's going to be you, and of course if the light comes on

warning it's time to change the oil when you have the oil changed, you need to

reset it, and there's some pretty crazy ways that reset some of them, you can

always google it and find a way for your particular vehicle, but look at the crazy

setup on this Yukon, what you have to do to reset it, so you change your engine

oil but the stupid change engine oil soon light is still on, how do you

turn it off, well some of this stuff is crazy, on this Yukon, you just turn the

key on with the engine not running, then you step on the accelerator, one, two,

three times fast, now it's reset itself, notice the light is

off, boy they are sure coming up with some crazy ideas now, I guess the software

engineer who wrote it was a Wizard of Oz fan, like Dorothy clicking her heels

three times and going back to Kansas, so when it's time to change your oil, don't

trust those stupid warning systems, do it by mileage or time, because really oil is

cheap, maybe you changed a little bit earlier great, an engine costs many

thousands of dollars, and a quart of oil even the good stuff is only six or seven

dollars a quart and remember, if you have any car question just visit the Scotty Kilmer Channel, and I'll answer them, as soon as I get back from paradise,

assuming I come back!

West Virginia football will face the No.1 kicker in FBS in Utah's Matt Gay in the Heart of D Bowl - Duration: 4:03.

West Virginia football will face the No. 1 kicker in FBS in Utah's Matt Gay in the Heart of Dallas Bowl in Texas

DALLAS — If the Heart of Dallas Bowl comes down to a kick for Utah against West Virginia, the Utes will turn to someone who entered this season with only one year of high school football, didn't know what the Lou Groza Award was, yet walked off with it a few weeks ago.

Matt Gay has difficulty describing what has transpired in the past five months. "It's been crazy," he said. "I'm trying to figure out the emotion of things.".

Gay's Utes (6-6) need a victory Tuesday to finish with a winning record for the fourth consecutive season.

West Virginia (7-5) already has done that, but the Mountaineers want to end a two-game losing streak that began when quarterback Will Grier — eighth in the Football Bowl Subdivision in passing yards per game — was lost with a broken middle finger on his passing hand during the first quarter against Texas.

Gay walked on last summer after playing soccer for Utah Valley and narrowly lost the starting job to freshman Chayden Johnston. After Johnston's first attempt went wide from 45 yards in Utah's opener, Gay was told, "You have the next one.".

And the job was his. Gay leads the FBS with 27 field goals, missing only four attempts. He has hit eight of at least 50 yards, converting twice from 56.

Gay was awarded a scholarship in October, days after he was reclassified athletically as a junior through a ruling related to taking a Mormon mission while at Utah Valley.

"I'd like to say I coached him up," Utes coach Kyle Whittingham said. He conceded that Gay arrived with excellent mechanics while working with a private coach and Utah's staff "gave him a few tips here and there.".

"His approach on the ball is fast," Mountaineers coach Dana Holgorsen said. "I don't know what his range is. It's longer than 56.".

Three Mountaineers receivers, including second-team All-America David Sills, rank in the top 30 in receiving yardage. Sophomore Chris Chugunov took over for Grier and went 24 of 46 for 326 yards. Other things to consider:.

• Besides Grier, the Mountaineers will also be missing leading rusher Justin Crawford as the senior prepares for the NFL draft. Crawford had consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with 11 total touchdowns.

• Utah's sophomore quarterback, Tyler Huntley, missed the regular-season finale (second shoulder injury of the season) but is 100 percent, Whittingham said.
