George Patton & Douglas MacArthur In World War 1 I WHO DID WHAT IN WW1? - Duration: 9:08.
Two of the most celebrated military leaders in American history gained their greatest
fame during the Second World War, but both of them had in fact served and served with
distinction in the Great War - George Patton and Douglas MacArthur.
I'm Indy Neidell; welcome to a Great War bio special about George
Patton and Douglas MacArthur.
John Pershing was the Commander of the American army in the First World War, but Patton had
known him and worked with him before.
In fact, Patton and Pershing had become friends in the prewar period and Patton's sister
was even romantically involved with Pershing for a time.
When Pershing was the commander of Fort Bliss on the US Mexico border, he was in charge
of the "revenge" operation against Pancho Villa in 1916 and 1917, after Villa and his
rebels had conducted raids on US territory.
Patton had received orders to report to the Philippines, but contacted Pershing.
Pershing made Patton his aide and took him to hunt down Villa.
Interestingly enough, in that year of 1916 Patton was to take part in the Olympics, though
they were cancelled because of the war.
He had, in fact, taken part in the 1912 games in Stockholm in the first pentathlon.
Patton was a brilliant swordsman and would not only develop new training tactics, but
designed the M1913 cavalry sabre, known as the Patton Sword.
He was born in 1885 in California, to a military family and graduated from the United States
Military Academy at West Point in 1909.
He chose to join the cavalry after that, an elite branch of service, possibly because
of his skill as a swordsman.
In May 1917, during his first command under Pershing, he led a raid on the ranch of one
of Villa's organization's leaders.
With 15 men and three Dodge touring cars, he successfully led America's first motorized
military action.
Pershing nicknamed Patton the Bandito after this, and Patton got his first taste of fame,
as the raid was featured in major newspapers.
When the United States Expeditionary Force was to go to fight in Europe in the World
War, Pershing was chosen as its leader, and Patton went with him as his aide.
Pershing promoted Patton to Captain, and when Patton requested a command at the front, he
was assigned to the newly formed Tank Corps.
Tanks were a totally new concept for the US Army, and of the army, it was Patton who was
the first to study them, then actually use them and develop tank strategies and tactics.
The turning point for this was the Second Battle of Cambrai.
Patton was not actually there; at that time he was in Landres overseeing the US tank force
of some 344 tanks, but he studied in depth the results of that battle, which saw the
British and French really use tanks to their full capacity for the first time.
Patton and his tank unit would see action at St. Mihiel and the Meuse-Argonne Offensive.
In the latter, the now Colonel Patton's brigade of 141 Renault light tanks and 28
medium Schneiders mounted a major assault, with Patton personally leading his forces
into battle.
Poor terrain and German anti-tank tactics caused 2/3 of the tanks to either break down
or be destroyed, so Patton led a pick up squad of infantry in a frontal assault on German
machine gun posts.
He was severely wounded in the leg, and though dragged to safety, for him the war was over.
Years later he would be awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the Distinguished Service Medal,
and the Purple Heart for his service in the Great War.
Two weeks before being wounded, Lieutenant Colonel Patton had gone into a woods upon
hearing that some of his tanks had bogged down.
There, he came under German artillery fire.
Brigadier General Douglas MacArthur saw Patton on the top of the hill and moved his division
up to rendezvous.
This was their first meeting, and they stood there under shellfire while MacArthur's
men took cover, talking about the futility of taking cover.
MacArthur, born in 1880, was a few years older than Patton.
His family also had a long military tradition and he attended the West Texas Military Academy
before graduating from West Point with honors in 1903.
Like Patton, he was an outstanding athlete.
His military career took off immediately and he had postings in Japan, the Philippines,
Veracruz, and even France as Major in 1914, three years before the US joined the war.
A man of great bravery, he is described by soldiers and historians alike as egotistical,
but there is no question that he was a great leader.
When the US entered the war, MacArthur was promoted to Colonel and commanded the 42nd
Division, known as the Rainbow Division, which was made up of troops from many National Guard
posts from all across the USA.
He would lead them at St. Mihiel, the Meuse-Argonne, and at Sedan.
After MacArthur and Patton had met, they led their troops on a daring but successful mission
to secure the bulge of St. Mihiel.
Patton's recounting of the mission is quite full of bravado, while MacArthur goes out
of his way to subtly put Patton down, referring to the troubles Patton's tanks had with
getting bogged down.
Two weeks after Patton was injured, MacArthur's Rainbow Division went into action in the Meuse-Argonne
Offensive, tasked with eliminating the Kriemhilde Stellung, a major defensive part of Germany's
Hindenburg Line, and a real killing zone.
MacArthur was quite ill temporarily after being gassed, but by October 16th, his men
had taken their objectives and driven the Germans from the battlefield.
However, they themselves had taken heavy losses and would be unable to continue to take the
fight to the Germans.
General Menoher wrote of MacArthur's- and General Sumerall's- bravery on the Kriemhilde
Stellung, "The indomitable resolution and ferocious courage of these two officers in
rallying their broken lines time and time again, in re-forming the attack and leading
their men to save the day.
Without them the German line would not have been broken...
I regard their efforts as among the most remarkable of the war."
Postwar, Douglas MacArthur became Superintendent at West Point, modifying its curriculum to
reflect the lessons of modern war.
In the 1930s he would serve as Chief of Staff of the United States Army, and during the
Second World War would become a five star general and the Field Marshal of the Philippine
Army.
He is the only man to have that rank, and one of only five to rise to General of the
Army in the US Army.
George Patton, after the war, focused on tanks.
He used the lessons of Cambrai and the Argonne to write essays explaining how tanks were
to make bold, massed attacks to penetrate the enemy's lines and how to maneuver around
fixed positions.
Know your terrain, use ground intelligence, and "the object of war is not to die for
your country but to make the other bastard die for his."
Patton saw tanks as the future of modern combat, but Congress was unwilling to provide the
funds to build a large armored force.
Still, he carried out experiments to improve intra-tank radio communication, reinforcing
the importance of coordinated attacks and mutual fire support positions, all of which
would be invaluable in World War Two.
In 1932, Patton led a cavalry force to break up a veteran's protest in Washington D.C.
The vets were protesting the denial of cashing their WW1 service benefits.
Many were out of work because of the depression, and a government act of 1924 had awarded them
war bonuses they could not redeem until 1945.
Patton was said to be deeply unhappy with his superior MacArthur's decision for the
policing action, but carried out his orders as commanded.
But that, and all of the fame, glory, and controversy that surrounded them during the
1940s is really beyond the scope of this channel.
Today was a look at the early years of two truly iconic American military leaders, and
their service, experiences, and the lessons they learned in the Great War.

EXPLANATION OF THE MESSAGE OF 2 NOVEMBER 2018 GOSPA TO MEDJUGORJE - Duration: 2:29.
In the message of 2, Mary asks us not to reject those who are far away
of God.
Even those who reject God, she tells us that at the bottom of them there is a treasure that
we must find, a treasure filled with love and tenderness ... if we find this treasure
it's a little god's forgiveness that enters in them. and they need it ...
Marie goes further, she tells us she does not judge, I personally judge all the time,
Mary gives us a trick, try to understand the person rather than judge her, ...
that's what Jesus wants ...
the spirit is strong, which means that if you have problems it's in your
head that it happens, be strong. Concerning "fasting", many are convinced
that they can not fast that it's "Impossible", they believe that their spirit
is weak and Mary tells us, "No, the spirit is strong "you limit, yourself, your
mind telling you I will not make it, so I do not even try ...
A little tip if you can not to do something, do it for love,
made in sacrifice for Mary.
Religion, god and children ...
Alas ... we all have in mind these abominations done against children ... But I
Please do not confuse the actions of God with the actions of men ... besides
many abused children not rejected God, most want to help
the church has to be purified, so that there is no more such practice in the church ..
In the meantime here are very beautiful pictures of children and God ...
Really good this video, so ... in the white part you can see more videos

Design project of the apartment. Interior in modern classic style - Duration: 2:33.
Interior Workshop Julia Sheveleva
Presents to your attention a design project of an apartment called Cowberry Cream.
The style of this interior is a cozy modern classic.
The interior turned out to be very lively and quite bright, but at the same time it kept its refinement.
An important condition in the planning of the kitchen was the removal of a separate dining area.
Light and warm colors are complemented by accents of purple, blue and green colors.
The facades of kitchen furniture are also bright with panels.
The apron is made of beige relief tiles.
The mood of the whole apartment is felt at the entrance to the hallway.
Here on the floor is a carpet of tiles.
A tall mirror, in a molding frame, widens a small space.
In the bright corridor, attention to itself attracts a blueberry-colored console.
From the hallway into the living room are sliding wide doors with frosted glass binding.
They create a feeling of lightness, let the light through and give solemnity to the interior of the living room.
In the living room there are two zones.
The first is for watching TV.
The second zone is working.
The door to the balcony replaced.
The layout of its bindings repeats the pattern of the interior door.
Panels on the built-in furniture, a wide ceiling cornice and curtains with hooks emphasize the style of the interior.
In the bedroom on one of the walls used the composition of the framework.
The opposite wall is covered with wallpaper with floral patterns.
The perimeter of the room is outlined by a cornice and thin molding.
The doors of the wardrobe are classic in shape, but made in a rich blue color.
The bathroom and the bathroom are separate, but the customer wanted to see them made in the same tile.
For the walls was chosen beige-cream tiles of different formats.
As accents, a relief tile with different geometric patterns was used.
For the floor, we chose bright hexagons of rich lingonberry color.

The FIRST picture of Earth and the moon! - Duration: 3:39.
It is an absolute world premiere.
We might have to go back a few steps to get two people together in a picture, but it's
a bit more difficult to take a picture of the Earth and Moon.
Nobody had done it yet.
SO FAR!
Now, for the first time NASA has succeeded in getting the Earth and Moon together from
a distance in a picture.
What does it look like?
How did NASA manage that?
Now on Clixoom Science & Fiction.
Welcome!
The Earth and its Moon are 390,000 kilometers, about 242000
miles apart.
This makes it fairly clear that a "photographer" must also have to be located approximately
that distance away in order to take a picture at all.
Our photographer's name is "Osiris-Rex".
Actually, the probe is on its way to the asteroid Bennu, an asteroid that could come dangerously
close to Earth.
In 150 years this could be the case: Around 2169
to 2199, yet the risk is still rather low.
In 2135, according to the previous calculations, it
will be closer to the earth than the moon and could then be pulled into a collision
course by the gravitation of the earth and the moon.
Despite the low risk, it is one of the most dangerous asteroids we know of.
The addition "Know of" is crucial, because according to research, two major asteroids
crash on earth each year, mostly in remote areas, or in an angle, like in Chelyabinsk
in 2013, which caused only material damage.
Nasa wants to know more about Bennu now and so they sent the probe to investigate it.
It is an ideal research object.
Discovered in 1999, it is 492 meters, about 540 yards in diameter on course towards Earth
and thus relatively close.
Osiris Rex is scheduled to take soil samples from the 62 million-ton chunk in 2020
and return it to Earth in 2023 . But on its way Osiris Rex reached an ideal
position on its way to Bennu on his 650 million kilometer, about 400 million miles long track
to capture Earth and Moon in one image.
5 million and 420 thousand kilometers about 3.3 million miles from the moon and 5 million
and 120 thousand kilometers or about 3.2 million miles from the earth: Click.
The photo was shot in October 2017, but has only now been analysed enough so that
it looks reasonable.
The two celestial bodies have different brightnesses and so the picture had to be takenseveral
times and then added together like with an HDR recording, so a high dynamic range recording
and voila here it is.
Absolute madness.
I might hang that up as a poster!

Really good this video, so ... in the white part you can see more videos
... and in the red part the last video ...
Super ... you found this video great ... then you can subscribe ... by following

How To Change Your Posture Habits *GIVEAWAY* - Duration: 2:54.
what have guys I'm back here with the posture trainer what's a posture trainer
full upright go is a company based out of Israel that basically helps you get
your posture right so you I usually sits like this because more comfortable
doesn't take work but you're supposed to be like this you know around your
shoulders out so again this is a bright go let's see what's about to see if it
actually does anything your help alright so they have an ad that you can use on
your phone to track your progress which is super cool let's get into the box
all right so next thing I'm gonna do is put out my back take this little guy and
put on my back all right so now I have to calibrate it so I'm gonna double
click the power button all right so I can press the power button wants to
switch between training and tracking modes all right so now I'm training for
10 minutes and if you notice when I slouch like this starts to vibrate let's
go back up all right I'm gonna play with it for a little bit and see how that my
posture actually is I'll let you guys know how it goes so I'm in the car and
literally it's so funny how mindful I am now with my back I'm like sitting here
like this look at the vibration and be like so it's crazy how mindful it makes
you up keeping your posture better so after using the upright go it's been
kind of interesting it's it's different I mean you don't really fill it with a
piece on your back but I wanted to share some of my stats with you guys
so I only did it for one day crazy thing is that when you're wearing you don't
realize how much like you have to think about oh crap like you know when it's
tracking meaning it's not gonna vibrate when you go like this you're constantly
like oh wait hold on I gotta sit like this which is great I was upright for an
hour and 51 minutes and I was slouched for 22 so slouched upright and I wore to
the beach I didn't get in the water obviously you can't use it when you're
doing sport activities it was great I think it's definitely time I'm gonna add
in our routine I think you should try it too and that is my full comprehensive
review of the upright go and to be honest guys like it's actually pretty
useful there's a bunch of these products out there that you're like what's the
point of having that but this guy right here it's pretty useful if you guys want
one maybe I could give them a scene you guys wanna leave something in the
comments or come say what's up on Instagram and get something to improve
your posture til next time - see you guys
