There are some things you should do in your life, number one is to ski.
Numer two is to subscribe to our channel.
We stand here with one of our experienced testriders: Emma.
And you have now tried the first ski, what have you ridden?
What pair of skis have you tried?
I´ve tried this nice ski, it´s Atomic Backland 107.
I´ve tried it in the length of 182 cm.
What was your first impression of this ski?
My feeling was that it is really solid in high speeds.
It felt like a ski made for big lines and big mountains.
You could really step on the pedal on this one, and pick up tons of speed.
What was your impression when you rode it on piste, and began to carv on it?
Absolutely good on the groomers!
It´s rock solid on bigger turns.
As mentioned: rather a bit bigger turns and runs on this one.
It´s more of a ski for droping big cliffs and charging open fields, than dancing through forests when trees grow close together.
Did you try it outside the piste?
I did, and I liked it there.
It´s a bit more lightweight than I thought when I first saw it.
And that was something I found positive.
We have a little line here on the mountain, wich includes a bit of a classic tight Swedish forest with birches.
Fun, but I think of bigger and more open fields for this one.
So if that´s the kind of ski you´re looking for: Atomic Backland 107 will suit you.
Ok, so we have your explanation and impressions of the ski. What is your judgement on the scale from 1-5?
It´s a 4 for me!
What have you tried Olle?
Backland 107, Atomic.
At what length?
I got the long one, it´s 189 cm.
What do you think of these skis after ridning on them?
First run I was a bit skeptical.
I thought it was a bit lame and slow.
But I think that was due to that I had been riding a shorter ski just before.
Second run I got a much better feeling for it and I started to charge it a bit more, press in the turns.
And then I think it was a lot better, better than I expected actually.
It was hard, but not too hard.
You could really do correct and powerful carving turns all the way through, but I also found it playfull.
Would you say that it is the kind of ski that loves speed and big turns?
Exactly!
And it also puts a bit of demand on the person riding it, you have too charge and but a lot of speed and power into it.
It´s not a ski that you fart around and go loose on.
Backland 107 would be perfect in the Alps with long runs both on and off piste.
We tried it here a bit off piste as well, and I could ride it in quite high speed without getting stuck or anything.
A stiffer ski can be hard in that type of terrain, but this one was not.
Would you consider this ski for go touring? Considering the low weight?
It is lightweight, but a stiff one!
So, yeah, I think that Atomic would say this is good for ski touring and yes I would do that.
Judgment, 1-5, what will it be?
First I thought "not more than 3", but as I got to know the ski more I will have to raise that to 4!
sThanks!
Ok, next rider. Max you have also tried the Backland 107 from Atomic. What length did you ride?
I got 182 cm with a radius of 18,5 meter.
How did you like these skiis?
We did two runs on the groomers, and one more outside.
It´s a fun ski! When you press it, it comes along, solid in high speeds.
While off piste I felt I could go a bit faster then on the previous ski I tested. It´s a "chargy" one!
Atomic Backland suits the skier that want´s to push it, both on and off piste.
So on the plus side: solid in high speed, but did you manage to turn it in smaller places like in between the birches?
I managed to work things out there as well, but it was a bit more effort than compared to Salomon QST 106.
On the other hand: it made med pick a line that was a bit more straight so that kind of worked out anyway!
It was a quick ski on piste, 18,5 radius kan be quite fast there, but off pist it was a little slower to turn.
Let´s wrap it up then: judgement!
I kind of want to give it more than 4, but yeah, a 4 it is!
So it´s not a 4.5?
What the heck, it is a 4.5! I really liked this one!
It´s a wrap! Thanks!
Ok, we are back with Tobbe who works for both Atomic and Salomon.
What ski are you holding?
This is Atomic Backland 107.
What kind of skiers should consider this modell?
It is for a skier who maybe want´s to start skitouring for a bit, since it´s quite lightweight.
But still a ski that performs down hill.
What does it weigh?
I do not have the exat gram in my head, but it is a middle light ski I would say...
Still a ski you could press in the groomers and go side country with?
Exactly! It´s not a superlight ski only for touring. It´s more versatile.
Has anything changed with Atomic Backland 107 since last year?
It´s the same sidecut and measures and design since last year.
It still has the nice spoon in the front, same as on the Bent Chetler skis, gives a good float in powder.
Ok, so same design as on Atomic Bent Chetler regarding the tip then?
Yupp!
In the back: rocker or what?
Yes, a nice little tail rocker in the back, and a camber under foot.
A shift binding on this one, and you´re good to go just about anywhere!
Thanks!
