Youtube daily report Feb 4 2019

I'm a living example of the power that education has to transform lives UNT transformed me

it was at UNT I learned my profession I learned a lot about life I learned the tools that

enabled me to have the success that I've had He's an alum that was very active in

Greek Life here and continues to be active at the National level he of course has been

involved in the College of Business in Accounting and other programs and very involved in Athletics

and of course as the chair of the Board of Regents he is showing his concern and his

support for the University in trying to make us the best university he knows how to have

someone step forward in the way the Ryan's have is just amazing it's the signal of

commitment that someone has made to say we believe in this college and that by itself

will immediately elevate our brand in a way that benefits students makes their degrees

more valuable and tells people to take us very seriously I believe that this gift will

be transformational for the College of Business it gives us the opportunity to build on the

terrific foundation that we have at UNT's College of Business it means multiple endowed

professorships it means the ability to upgrade our talent across the institution across the

college it gives us the opportunity to recruit some of the best minds in business throughout

the country and gives us the ability to be more competitive and more effective in our

mission at UNT often the margin of excellence in a program is a gift a gift that changes

lives a gift that changes the trajectory of a college a gift that keeps on giving in the

most positive way the business success of Brint Ryan and the legacy that he has made

it tells our students look at the possibilities look what you can become look the legacy is

nice and I'm going to enjoy that with my family but what's really important to me

is giving back and giving others like me the opportunity in the future to do what I have

done I'm so proud of Brint Ryan and I'm so proud of our University that we're able

to now celebrate his achievements and the achievements of many students just like him

hard working passionate contenders who want to make a difference in their lives so this

is a great day

Twitter and Youtube Both Getting Rid Of What NOW? - Duration: 15:09.

Dial today on the internet predominately when you ...

review and content you are viewing content that is ...

promoted or curated by very complicated AI algorithm ...

while other content is either shadowbanned or completely ...

censored and really predominately our experience ...

on the internet right now it's pretty much filled with ...

messages from mega-corporations the ...

mainstream media and of course government approved ...

messages the internet used to be a place where if you ...

would subscribe to something you would want to ...

see something you would actually see it which gave the ...

rise of independent creators that were not connected to ...

big money or of course any government at all but I think ...

it's pretty clear that that is not the case anymore and the ...

last voice the last major opposition that the people ...

have against this destruction of free speech in the Public ...

Square against the ramming of propaganda and just trash ...

down their throats by the special interest our last way ...

to express our descent against that crap..

Well that is being taken away from us will soon be gone ...

unless of course we do something about it and that ...

of course is quote being ratio explain what it means later in ...

this video but most importantly what I wanted to ...

get into in this video is your ability to express yourself ...

being taken away from you by some of the biggest ...

players online now before we start wanted to thank ...

everyone who is joining us on subscribe star unsubscribe ...

star.com we are change the link will be in the description ...

because it is mainly you guys that are keeping us running ...

as a free and independent news organization and also ...

subscribe star is also in my opinion the ethical alternative ...

to of course patreon know I think quote being a ratio is a ...

very important aspect in our new online digital public ...

sphere that we're all involved in because it helps a lot of ...

people usually mainly people in power face the reality of ...

situations that they usually of course wouldn't see in their ...

own delusion of. Of course other people ...

criticize being ratio Das mob mentality and something that ...

allegedly creates quote hate mobs which of course I totally ...

disagree with as an example of being ratioed we of course ...

have the governor of Virginia Woolf course promoted a bill ...

to get rid of abortion restrictions in Virginia a very ...

controversial bill that along with the governor's own ...

statements many people took as the endorsement of ...

infanticide and with that controversy one of Ralph's ...

old friends got his yearbook out and publicly released ...

photos of the government governor and a black face ...

with another person wearing a Ku Klux Klan hood and with ...

these photos coming out as well as the abortion ...

comments a lot of people on the left might want this ...

Governor to step down when she's refusing to and that's ...

why they're expressing their concern with of course race ...

showing him on his public Twitter account.

He has a lot of responses and very little likes compared ...

to that and that's why ratioed by Urban Dictionary means ...

being revealed called as an idiot on Twitter by having a ...

high ratio of comments to likes and retweets to me this ...

is the people's public opinion in one way of expressing it ...

which I think is important but.

Big Monopoly tech companies or of course ...

looking to get rid of it completely previously even ...

Twitter just four months ago probably talked about how ...

they are wanting to get rid of the like button and as of ...

today receiving extremely biased and very incorrect ...

headlines like this one from The Verge saying that quote ...

YouTube wants this like mom to stop weaponizing the ...

dislike button going on to say one option is to do away with ...

it all together which of course made me respond by saying ...

that this is just quote Monopoly technocratic ...

multinational corporation seeking to silence the last ...

possible way for people to stand up against the ...

propaganda and disinformation they shoved ...

down your throat sorry going off there for a little bit but I ...

was my opinion and I will add evidence to support it in this video.

I think it's pretty clear but the argument does have to be ...

made is that a lot of billionaire technocrats ...

especially in Silicon Valley do personally curate and push ...

specific algorithms that promote special-interest why ...

of course censoring other voices that they do not like ...

this is an extreme power especially in what people ...

consider a public utility a Public Square conversation ...

where people for an example go to Twitter to literally hear ...

news from the president this is where we all discuss things and for these.

Powers to be controlled by a few individuals there's truly is ...

going to be some corruption which there already is a lot of ...

examples of What Not only of course right wing voices ...

being censored but also voices that are enemies of the ...

greater geopolitical goals of the United States like we saw ...

in Syria like we're seeing right now in Venezuela being shut ...

down by a lot of these bigger companies including Twitter ...

themselves previously even YouTube Banning Syrian ...

government account of their side of the story on YouTube ...

at the same time a lot of anti-establishment anti-war ...

critics and also have been permanently bad that even ...

an explanation to why import invoices and our civil ...

discourse are just being completely shut down and it's ...

not just a left-wing Mafia that you know Breitbart accuses ...

of doing all this it's it's far more bigger than just at what ...

time and time again Racine channels just demonetized if ...

not censored or shadowbanned or just ...

completely.. Goodbye YouTube while of ...

course rigging the system rigging the game in the favor ...

of what they deem quote art or Kata voices which is really ...

just the mainstream media that carries weights and wise ...

for Mass corporations and governments we've seen it ...

time and time again to very detrimental effects not only ...

just died Iraq war but I could just keep going on and on ...

just about that single aspect lone and that's why when we ...

do very important very dangerous risky ...

on-the-ground reporting you're never going to be able ...

to find it in the search algorithms even if you type in ...

we are changing for an example Paris or yellow vest ...

that we have covered on the ground garnered millions of ...

views around popular views with people sharing videos ...

organically you're not going to see those show up in the ...

search algorithm you're going to see of course lower-ranked ...

more dislike less engaged videos promoted by of course ...

YouTube which come from CNN MSNBC and Fox News ...

and they're all torque ATIV. Branch that they seem more.

For some reason with their record YouTube still sees ...

them the preferred supposed Muse Outlet to shove towards ...

you when again.

People are buying large literally moving away from the ...

crap that these corporatist globalist boot-licking ...

authoritarian state is try to push on us actual voices ...

people without special interest people who represent ...

the voices of actual people on the ground.

Of course filtered through this bull crap and.

So What YouTube is doing the opposite to it which is ...

exemplified with of course this latest step to get rid of ...

any voice that rejects that to their getting rid of comments ...

sections out of course major media websites.

Like NPR CNN and of course there's many arguments to ...

why this is happening but in my opinion of course it's to ...

stop people calling them out on their lies special interest ...

have an extreme unfair advantage to the system that ...

were all apart of on the internet especially with ...

known already admitted use of social media platforms by ...

governments whether it's the American government the ...

Israeli government the Russian government that ...

admittedly hires trolls in order to influence people on social ...

media of course some of this is being discussed by of ...

course or Russia doing this with their Bots and allegedly ...

interfering in elections but it's admitted that the United ...

States and Israel does this as well as other government.

Set a shoes never addressed or made a bigger issue out of ...

or even talked about but does legitimately happen and does ...

influence people's opinions with of course the ...

psychological based influence techniques where ...

people are paid by the government to sit down and ...

talk trash against voices that go against the US ...

government trying to of course.

Influent everyone watching to think oh yeah this person ...

criticizing the government he's either a big nose and ...

look like totally wrong he's a conspiracy theorist know he's ...

a left-wing communist or right-wing fascist tea bag.

I got just totaled slander and disinformation campaigns ...

that are totally fine on Bank social media networks that ...

don't even talks about and this happened so many times ...

like we even saw what Amazon removing one star ...

reviews from of course Hillary Clinton's new book so I think ...

it's pretty clear that our voices are being a limited are being ...

censored are being down Rancor being shadowbanned ...

are being completely deleted by of course for the benefit of ...

special interest with one hand washing the other of of ...

course Very powerful people very rich people who of ...

course are protecting themselves and doing each ...

other favors screwing you over so this is why I don't buy ...

the fact that mainstream media journalists and ...

YouTuber saying that the dislike button is a quote ...

weapon for supposed dislike mobs and I'm sorry I don't ...

completely by it especially if you look at the fact that the ...

number one disliked video which of course was the very ...

politically charged. And biased YouTube Rewind ...

of 2018 which received 15.9 million dislikes a video made ...

by YouTube on its own YouTube platform is now the ...

number one most disliked video on its entire platform of ...

course II to an annoying Justin Bieber song Third to ...

Jake Paul and of course with Logan Paul or pretty much ...

the idols that YouTube was promoting to us and with their ...

specialized algorithm and would of course Disney ...

connections pushed him to the Forefront of the fame and ...

popularity that he is at now the fourth video is of course ...

PewDiePie with a video saying quote can this video ...

get 1 million dislikes and it did I got three point nine now ...

the other examples of being ratioed that I think is ...

important to bring up as of course the Gillette ...

commercial that received 1.3 million dislike on a video that ...

just came out a few days ago.

What you got it was very racially sexually and ...

politically biased and of course One Direction which ...

people by and large rejected and then of course the latest ...

example that just happened a few moments ago is of course ...

about the Oprah for men Joe Rogan himself who just had ...

the CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey on his podcast which ...

has received over 50,000 dislikes for what people are ...

criticizing as a very soft handed interview with a ...

technocratic billionaire that is Banning and censoring ...

people because of their political speech and Catering ...

of course to bigger government requests and ...

shutting down opposition voices especially in the recent ...

case of Venezuela from the public hearing their side of ...

the story when Joe Rogan makes the argument that ...

everyone should have a platform everyone should ...

have an open Voice everyone should be able to discuss ...

their differences and that he shouldn't be criticized ...

because he. Jack Dorsey on I completely ...

agree with his argument the problem for a lot of people is is that he.

Supposedly who believes in that did not stand up for that ...

against one of the biggest egregious.

Actors in the space of deplatforming people that ...

was the grape and why there were so many people that ...

dislike this video as well as the fact that Joe Rogan has ...

been sponsored by the cash app which is an actual ...

business which is founded by Jack Dorsey and let's be ...

honest even with some of the comments and some people ...

debating that maybe the comments were deleted them ...

weren't deleted it was predominantly the like to ...

dislike ratio which is prompting a response by Joe ...

Rogan who is even going on the record saying right now ...

saying that Jack Dorsey will actually be back on the Joe ...

Rogan podcast now to actually talk about the topic ...

of censorship and deplatforming which he ...

hopes could lead to a road of redemption for the people ...

who are being bad and Responding back to the ...

people who are critical of them with of course more ...

dialogues and hey I think that's awesome and ...

important I think we do need to have these bigger ...

discussions and I think the Public's voice is extremely ...

important when it comes to holding powerful.

Powerful corporations accountable one way we do ...

that is of course with the ratio in people this is why ...

platforms like Reddit or as prominent and as important ...

as they are because they give people the ability to upvote ...

and download the content that they like or dislike even ...

though that platform and itself is also facing a lot of ...

criticize criticism regarding censorship and the ...

deplatforming of people that they also disagree with and ...

sometimes it's not easy to admit that you're wrong it's ...

embarrassing for a lot of people who usually powerful ...

to admit like hey.

Yeah I didn't get it right here and it's okay people make ...

mistakes all the time but ratio Wing in my opinion is a way ...

to hold people accountable to that especially the very ...

powerful and good on for Joe Rogan for facing that ...

admitting that and trying to do the right thing as well as ...

all the other people who have done the right thing in the ...

past because of the people's voice I could be completely ...

wrong but if I.

You guys will of course let me know in the comments ...

section below and also of course with the like and ...

dislike ratio which I honestly hope never goes away and if ...

you believe in that share this video and try to get this ...

message out to the larger public because honestly with ...

the way things are going before we know it.

We're going to exist anymore while we still are here thank ...

you so much for watching this video and sticking with ...

me for so long I love you guys thank you again so ...

much watching stay tuned for a lot more here on youtube.com.

Are change.

More Than a Bandage: Health Information Resources for K-12 Health Professionals, January 15, 2019 - Duration: 52:58.

>> OKAY, GOOD AFTERNOON

MORE THAN A BANDAGE, HEALTH

INFORMATION RESOURCES FOR K-IS

IT HEALTH PROFESSIONALS.

THE CLASS IS DESIGNED TO

INTRODUCE SCHOOL NURSES AND

EDUCATORS TO THE RESOURCES OF

THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF MEDICINE

AND OTHER HIGH-QUALITY

RESOURCES.

SO HERE'S A QUICK LOOK AT OUR

AGENDA.

WE WILL START WITH AN

INTRODUCTION TO HEALTH RESOURCES

LIKE MEDLINE PLUS AND DRUG

INFORMATION AND IDENTIFICATION

AND RESOURCES INCLUDING

BIG INFORMATION SHARE AND OTHER

TIMES WE'LL GO A LITTLE BIT

DEEPER INTO CERTAIN RESOURCES.

PLEASE ENTER ANY QUESTIONS THAT

YOU MAY HAVE THAT COME UP IN THE

CHAT BOX WHICH IS TO THE RIGHT

OF YOUR SCREEN AND AT THE END

WE'LL SPEND TIME GOING BACK

THROUGH ANYTHING THAT WAS NOT

CLEAR.

DURING THE PRESENTATION, YOU

WILL NOTICE A HYPERLINK FOR EACH

RESOURCE LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM

RIGHT CORNER.

THESE SLIDES AND A FULL RESOURCE

LIST IS ON THE HOME PAGE.

THE RESOURCE LIST INCLUDES A

LINK FOR EACH RESOURCE IN THIS

PRESENTATION SO THERE IS A

TWO-PAGE WORK DOCUMENT, I JUST

SENT IT OUT IN THE CHAT WHERE

ALL THE RESOURCES AND MORE FROM

THE PRESENTATION EXISTS SO YOU

DON'T HAVE TO JUMP AROUND

BETWEEN SLIDES.

FEEL FREE TO USE THE SLIDES AT

YOUR SCHOOLS, LIBRARY TO TRAIN

FELLOW STAFF OR JUST TO SHARE

OUT.

SO THIS IS MY FAVORITE SLIDE,

NNL, HUH?

SO LOTS OF ACRONYMS GOING ON

HERE.

YOU MAY BE FAMILIAR WITH SOME OF

THESE ACRONYMS.

MOST PEOPLE ARE A LITTLE BIT

CONFUSED ABOUT WHO THEY ARE AND

WHO WE ARE.

SO THE NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF

HEALTH IS THE NATION'S LEADING

MEDICAL RESEARCH AGENCY.

MANY OF YOU MORE LIKELY HAVE

HEARD OF THE NATIONAL CANCER

INSTITUTE WHICH IS ONE OF THE

MANY INSTITUTES AND CENTERS AT

NIH.

RIGHT UNDERNEATH THE NATIONAL

LIBRARY OF MEDICINE IS ALSO AN

INSTITUTE AT NIH.

IT'S THE WORLD'S LARGEST MEDICAL

LIBRARY WHICH MAINTAINS AND

MAKES AVAILABLE A VAST

COLLECTION AND PRODUCES

ELECTRONIC INFORMATION RESOURCES

LIKE MEDLINE PLUS AND PUBMED

WE'LL TALK ABOUT TODAY.

AND NNLM IS THE NATIONAL NETWORK

OF LIBRARIES OF MEDICINE AND

IT'S AN OUTREACH PROGRAM OF NLM.

THE NNHL IS MADE OF EIGHT

GEOGRAPHIC REGIONS WE'LL TALK

ABOUT IN THE NEXT PAGE.

I'M FROM THE MIDDLE ATLANTIC

REGION WHICH SERVES

PENNSYLVANIA, NEW YORK, NEW

JERSEY, DELAWARE AND OUR OFFICE

IS LOCATED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF

PITTSBURGH AT THE HEALTH

SCIENCES LIBRARY SYSTEM IN

RARELY SUNNY PITTSBURGH,

PENNSYLVANIA.

SO AT NNLM OUR GOAL IS TO

PROVIDE EQUAL ACCESS TO

BIOMEDICAL INFORMATION TO HEALTH

PROFESSIONALS AN ACCESS TO

QUALITY HEALTH INFORMATION FOR

THE GENERAL PUBLIC SO THEY ARE

BETTER ABLE TO MAKE INFORMED

DECISIONS ABOUT THEIR HEALTH.

WE DO THIS THROUGH RESOURCES ON

OUR WEBSITE, THE FUNDING OF

PROJECTS, IN-PERSON TRAININGS

AND WEBINARS JUST LIKE THIS ONE.

IF YOU ARE NOT YET A MEMBER

PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING.

MEMBERSHIP IS AT THE

ORGANIZATIONAL LEVEL FREE OF

CHARGE AND AS THE THE LIAISON

YOU'LL RECEIVE WEEKLY POSTINGS

ABOUT OUR TRAINING, FUNDING AND

MORE.

OKAY.

SO WE'RE GOING TO GET INTO

HEALTH RESOURCES.

WHEN LOOKING AT INFORMATION

ONLINE MOST OF US USE GOOGLE

FIRST AND AS YOU KNOW, GOOGLE

DOES A GOOD JOB BUT OFTEN GETS

YOU A LOT OF RESULTS AN IT'S NOT

ALWAYS TO FIND WHAT'S RELIABLE

SOURCES OF INFORMATION

ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO

HEALTH INFORMATION.

IMAGINE MEDLINE PLUS AS YOUR NEW

HEALTH INFORMATION GOOGLE IF YOU

DON'T ALREADY USE THAT.

A FEW OF THE SECTIONS IN MEDLINE

PLUS INCLUDE HEALTH TOPICS WHICH

COVER IMPORTANT ISSUES LIKE

ASTHMA, CANCER, DIABETES AMONG

OTHERS.

THERE IS DRUG AND SUPPLEMENT

INFORMATION AVAILABLE, VIDEOS,

HEALTH QUIZZES AND GAMES.

THERE'S A MEDICAL ENCYCLOPEDIA

WHICH IS SEARCHABLE AND

BROWSABLE SO IF ANY OF YOU ARE

WORKING OUT OF A SCHOOL LIBRARY

YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT

KEEPING EXPENSIVE TEXT UP TO

DATE BECAUSE THIS MEDICAL

ENCYCLOPEDIA FILE AND YOU'LL SEE

A DIRECTORY TO FIND LOCAL HEALTH

PRACTITIONERS AND ORGANIZATIONS

IN YOUR AREA AS WELL LOTS OF

INFORMATION IN OTHER LANGUAGES.

YOU CAN USE MEDLINE PLUS FOR

YOURSELF AND A TOP RESOURCE FOR

STUDENTS WITH LEARNING DISORDERS

OR OTHER CHRONIC HEALTH

CONDITIONS.

MEDLINE PLUS LINK TO RESOURCES

ACROSS GOVERNMENT AND UNIVERSITY

RESEARCH FACILITIES AND WEBSITES

INCLUDING THE NATIONAL

INSTITUTES OF HEALTH, MAYO

CLINIC AND A FOUNDATION AND THE

BEST FEATURE IS THERE NO

ADVERTISEMENTS OR ENDORSEMENTS

SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT

CLICKING OFF AND POSSIBLY HAVING

A STUDENT OR A SENIOR OR SOMEONE

WHO IS NOT REALLY FAMILIAR WITH

INFORMATION LITERACY GOING INTO

SOMETHING THAT IS FALSE

INFORMATION.

MEDLINE PLUS HAS SCHOOL HEALTH

TOPICS AND THE PAGE HAS ARTICLES

FROM TRUSTED SOURCES LIKE THE

AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PEDIATRICS

AN [INDISCERNIBLE] FOUNDATION

AND THIS CAN BE FOUND WITHIN

MEDLINE PLUS.

AS YOU CAN SEE HERE, THERE ARE

TOPIC PAGES WITH IMMENSE

RESOURCES ON CHILD SAFETY,

BULLYING, ASTHMA, HEALTH

OCCUPATIONS AND I WILL LET YOU

RESOURCES HERE WILL MEET HEALTH

NEEDS OF YOUR STUDENTS AND STAFF

AND ALSO STUDENT FAMILIES AND

HOPEFULLY A WIDER COMMUNITY.

THERE'S A COUPLE WAY TO SEARCH

MEDLINE PLUS BUT ALL THE ANSWERS

WILL ONLY BE WITHIN MEDLINE

PLUS.

USING THE TABS AS ANOTHER

OPTION.

FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU ARE USING

HEALTH TOPIC TAB, YOU WOULD JUST

BROWSE THROUGH CATEGORIES AS YOU

CAN SEE FROM THESE EXAMPLES.

IN THIS FINAL EXAMPLE ON THE

RIGHT, WE BROWSED THE CHILDREN

AND TEENAGERS TOPIC AND FOUND

RESULTS FOR AUTISM SPECTRUM

DISORDER ALONG ANY OTHER HEALTH

DISORDERS.

SO ONCE WE'RE INSIDE A HEALTH

TOPIC THIS IS AN EXAMPLE.

YOU'LL NOTICE ON THE LEFT-HAND

SIDE RIGHT UNDER WHERE IT SAYS

AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER THERE'S

A TABLE OF CONTENTS AND HERE YOU

CAN QUICKLY JUMP TO SUBJECTS

LIKE SYMPTOMS, DIAGNOSIS, FIND

AN EXPERT AND MORE AND YOU CAN

ALWAYS SCROLL AND BROWSE THROUGH

THE ENTIRE HEALTH TOPIC.

MEDLINE PLUS DOESN'T CREATE IT'S

OWN ORGANIZATION BUT GATHERS AND

ORGANIZES IT SO RATHER THAN

GOING TO A SEARCH WHERE YOU GO

TO THE MAYO CLINIC AND OTHERS

IT'S BEING INCLUDED AND THE

SOURCE IS ALWAYS CLEARLY CITED.

SEARCHING MEDLINE PLUS.

INSTEAD OF BROWSING HEALTH

TOPICS YOU CAN DO A SEARCH.

HERE'S THE SEARCH RESULTS FOR

AUTISM.

ON THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE YOU WILL

SEE THAT I'VE INDICATED THAT

THIS IS THE FIRST HIT IS FOR THE

NATIONAL LIBRARY OF MEDICINE

LINK SO RIGHT NEXT TO IN THIS

HIGHLIGHTED RED BOX WHERE IT

SAYS AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER,

IF IT SAYS NATIONAL LIBRARY OF

MEDICINE, IT MEANS YOU MADE IT

TO A HEALTH TOPIC PAGE.

ON THE LEFT-HAND SIDE YOU CAN

REFINE RESULTS IF NEEDED.

SO IN ESSENCE THERE ARE MANY

WAYS TO GET TO THE SAME

INFORMATION.

FOR A SEARCH FOR AUTISM, YOU

WILL SEE THERE IS

[INDISCERNIBLE] RESULTS MANY

WILL BE ON THE FIRST HEALTH

TOPICS PAGE.

THE CHILDREN'S HEALTH AND TEEN

EIGHTH TOPIC PAGES COVER

SPECIFIC ISSUES TO CHILDREN AND

REALLY GEARED MORE TOWARDS THE

PARENT RATHER THAN FOR THE CHILD

TO READ.

THE CHILDREN'S HEALTH TOPIC PAGE

INCLUDE TOPICS SUCH AS DENTAL

HEALTH, DEVELOPMENT, SAFETY AND

EXERCISE FOR CHILDREN AND MORE.

AND FOR TEEN HEALTH, YOU CAN

FIND INFORMATION ON TEEN SEXUAL

HEALTH, TEEN MENTAL HEALTH, TEEN

DEVELOPMENT AND OTHER TOPICS

CENTRAL TO TEENS.

ON THE OTHER HAND, THIS IS THE

MEDLINE PLUS FOR KIDS AND TEENS

PAGES YOU'LL NOTE THEY'LL SAY

KIDS PAGE OR TEENS PAGE WHICH

MEANS THEY ARE SPECIFICALLY

GEARED IN THE LANGUAGES TAILORED

FOR THAT AUDIENCE.

THERE ARE GAMES AND VIDEOS AND

OTHER INTERACTIVE RESOURCES HERE

SUCH AS HEALTH QUIZZES.

SO IN THIS EXAMPLE, I CLICKED ON

VIDEOS AND TOOLS.

THERE ARE SURGERY VIDEOS WHICH

CAN BE A GREAT RESOURCE FOR THE

CURIOUS MIND OR MAYBE SOMEONE

PREPARING FOR SURGERY OR MAYBE

NOT OR POSSIBLY REALLY THE

INQUISITIVE KID WHO HAS A FUTURE

IN HEALTH CARE POSSIBILITY.

THIS IS THE VIDEO OF A SURGICAL

REPAIR OF A JONES FRACTURE.

A SMALL WARNING FOR THE GAMES

INCLUDED, THEY OFTEN LINK TO

OTHER RESOURCES AND THEY'RE NOT

UP-TO-DATE IN THE SENSE YOU MAY

NEED A FLASH PLAYER SO YOU MAY

NEED.

AS WITH ANY SOURCE IT'S THE

DETAILS THAT MATTER AND IT HAS A

PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION.

WHILE A PRINTOUT OF HYPERLINK

NOT STANDARD I FOUND IT HELPFUL

WHEN YOU'RE SHARING INFORMATION

PRINTED FROM THE WEB.

SO HAVING CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS

ABOUT HOW TO REVISIT THE

INFORMATION IS SUPER HELPFUL.

USING THE PRINTER ICON ON THE

LEFT-HAND SIDE YOU'D SELECT FULL

TOPIC INCLUDING ALL LINKS AND IT

PRINTS OFF THE HEALTH TOPIC PAGE

INCLUDING THE LINKS.

SO NURSES, TEACHERS AND

LIBRARIANS ARE TRUSTED AMONG THE

PUBLIC.

IN THEIR FAMILIES, SOCIAL

CIRCLES AND AT THEIR WORKPLACE.

THERE'S A WEALTH OF INACCURATE

AND DOWNRIGHT PREDATORY HEALTH

INFORMATION ONLINE.

THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF MEDICINE

MAINTAINS SOCIAL [INDISCERNIBLE]

TO COMBAT DANGEROUS HEALTH

INFORMATION.

IF YOU USE SOCIAL MEDIA CONSIDER

FOLLOWING MEDLINE PLUS ON

FACEBOOK OR TWITTER AND

INCLUDING ARTICLES AND TOPICS ON

SOCIAL MEDIA AND HOPEFULLY IN

E-MAILERS OR PRINT NEWS LETTERS.

THERE ARE MANY MANY THINGS AND

LINKS OF INTEREST FOR YOU TO

FOLLOW.

MORE THAN ONE SOCIAL MEDIA PAGE.

THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF MEDICINE

AND THE FRIENDS OF THE NATIONAL

LIBRARY OF MEDICINE PRODUCE THE

MAGAZINE NIH MEDLINE PLUS

PUBLISHED QUARTERLY.

IT PROVIDES THE LATEST

BREAKTHROUGHS FROM NIH SUPPORTED

RESEARCH.

INSIDE YOU'LL FIND STORIES FROM

INDIVIDUALS FROM ALL WALKS OF

LIFE TALKING ABOUT HOW THEY'VE

HANDLED VARIOUS HEALTH

CHALLENGES.

ON THE COVER THERE'S USUALLY

STORY ABOUT SOMEONE FAMOUS.

IN THIS EXAMPLE, NICK JONAS HAD

AN ARTICLE WHERE HE TALKED ABOUT

DIABETES.

NIH SCIENTISTS ALSO PROVIDE

STORIES ABOUT THEIR EFFORTS TO

CURE DISEASE AND YOU'RE ABLE TO

SUBSCRIBE TO THIS MAGAZINE

EITHER FOR AN INDIVIDUAL

SUBSCRIPTION OR FOR BULK

DELIVERY TO SCHOOLS,

COMMUNITIES, LIBRARY

ORGANIZATIONS.

IT'S JUST A NICE THING TO HAVE

IN A SPACE.

THE INTEREST IN GENETICS IS

HIGHER THAN EVER CONSIDERING THE

POPULARITY OF HOME DNA TESTING

KITS.

I'M SURE OVER THE HOLIDAY SEASON

YOU WERE BOMBARDED THROUGH ADS.

GENETICS HOME REFERENCE IS A

GREAT RESOURCE TO LEARN ABOUT

VARIOUS CONDITIONS WITH GENETIC

COMPONENTS TO THEM.

THE INFORMATION IS REVIEWED

BEFORE BEING POSTED OR REPORT.

THIS IS A GREAT RESOURCE TO

RECOMMEND TO ANYONE WHO HAS

RECEIVED A DIAGNOSIS OR A CHILD

OR FAMILY THAT MAY BE REQUESTING

SUPPORT FOR A FAMILY MEMBER AND

IT'S A GREAT RESOURCE FOR

STUDENTS IF THEY'RE DOING A

PROJECT OR PAPER ON GENETICS AND

FOR EDUCATOR RESOURCES AS WELL.

THE HELP ME UNDERSTAND GENETICS

SESSION IS A GREAT TOOL THAT

EXPLAINS THE BASIS OF GENETICS

AND TERMINOLOGY AND INHERITING

HEALTH CONDITIONS DIRECT TO

CONSUMER TESTING WHICH I ALREADY

MENTIONED AND OTHER RELATED

TOPICS AS WELL.

THE HOUSEHOLD PRODUCTS DATABASE

SAY RESOURCE YOU CAN USE AND

RECOMMEND TO OTHERS.

IT HAS A LOT OF INFORMATION ON

VARIOUS PRODUCTS USED IN SCHOOLS

AND IN HOMES.

FOR EXAMPLE, IF A CHILD HAS A

RASH OR HEADACHES, THIS MIGHT BE

A GOOD RESOURCE TO CHECK OUT

SOME OF THE PRODUCTS THAT

THEY'RE USING LIKE LAUNDRY DETER

TENT OR A PRODUCT THAT COULD BE

A CAUSE.

AND AS IT SAYS, THERE'S OVER

SAFETY DATA SHEETS.

THERE'S MULTIPLE WAYS TO SEARCH.

IT'S A PRETTY NEAT RESOURCE.

THE NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF

HEALTH HAS LOTS OF INFORMATION

FOR PROFESSIONALS AN ALSO FOR

THE PUBLIC INCLUDING EDUCATIONAL

MATERIALS.

INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND ON

SPECIAL HEALTH RESOURCES ARE NOW

POSTED FOR NATIONAL DRUG AND

FACT WEEK WHICH IS NEXT WEEK IN

JANUARY.

AND REMEMBER MEDLINE PLUS IS

STILL THE BEST WAY TO FIND

INFORMATION FROM JUST THE

PARTNER.

SO ALWAYS KIND OF REMEMBER ANY

OF THESE RESOURCES I'M SHARING,

YOU CAN FINALLY FIND IT AGAIN

THROUGH MEDLINE PLUS.

NIH IN THE NEWS IS A MONTHLY

ONLINE RESOURCE YOU CAN LINK TO

ONLINE OR ORDER PRINT COPIES FOR

SCHOOL CLASSROOMS, NURSES

OFFICES OR WAITING AREAS.

SHOWN HERE SIGH RECENT ARTICLE

ABOUT PREVENTING LEAD EXPOSURE

WHICH INCLUDES LINK FOR TESTING

AND DIAGNOSIS.

MEDLINE PLUS OFTEN LINK TO

KIDS.HEALTH.org AND IT'S AN

EXCELLENT RESOURCE AND

INFORMATION SIN ENGLISH AND

SPANISH INCLUDING AUDIO.

YOU WON'T FIND ANY

ADVERTISEMENTS ON THIS SITE AS

WELL THE GOOD THING IS THE

INFORMATION IS FOCUSSED ON THE

AUDIENCE SO WHETHER YOU'RE A KID

OR A TEEN OR A PARENT OR AN

EDUCATOR, THERE'S SOMETHING FOR

YOU THERE.

GIRLSHEALTH.gov IS FOCUSSED ON

GIRLS 10 TO 16 FOR RELIABLE

INFORMATION ON HEALTH AND WELL

BEING.

IT COVERS HUNDREDS OF TOPICS

FROM SEXUAL HEALTH TO STOPPING

BULLIES.

THE PAGES ARE CLEAR AND FUN AND

THEY MAKE SURE TO ANSWER KEY

QUESTIONS THAT GIRLS MAY ASK.

UNFORTUNATELY, THERE ISN'T A

TWIN PAGE FOR BOYS HOWEVER, THE

BOSTON CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL DOES

PROVIDE WEBSITES SPECIFICALLY

FOR YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN.

BOTH WEBSITES ARE DESIGNED FOR

TEENS TO BE READ BY TEENS BUT

THEN THERE'S ALSO RESOURCE FOR

PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS AS WELL.

I COULDN'T RECOMMEND THOSE

SOURCES ENOUGH.

NOW WE'LL COVER DRUG

INFORMATION.

NOW THE DRUGS, HERBS AND

SUPPLEMENTS SECTION PROVIDES

ACCESS TO INFORMATION ON

PRESCRIPTION DRUGS AND

OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDICATIONS AS

WELL AS THE ABILITY TO BROWSE

FOR INFORMATION ON DIETARY

SUPPLEMENTS AN HERBAL REMEDIES.

YOU CAN LEARN ABOUT SIDE

EFFECTS, DOSAGE, SPECIAL

PRECAUTIONS OF DRUGS AND THE

EFFECTIVENESS AND USUAL DOSAGE

AND DRUG INTERACTIONS WITH HERBS

AND SUPPLEMENT.

WE'LL FIRST LOOK AT THE DRUG

SECTION.

FOR THIS SECTION, YOU WILL NEED

TO BROWSE BY GENERIC NAME OR

BRAND NAME.

YOU CAN ALSO DO SO BY CLICKING

ON THE APPROPRIATE LETTER FOR

THE DRUG YOU'RE INTERESTED IN

LEARNING MORE ABOUT.

IF YOU ONLY REMEMBER IT'S A

MEDICATION THAT BEGINS WITH A

"C" OR AN "X," IT MAY BE AN EASY

WAY TO HELP SEARCH.

HERE'S AN EXAMPLE ON THE LEFT OF

INFORMATION ABOUT A SPECIFIC

PRESCRIPTION DRUG.

NOTICE IT HAS A TABLE OF

CONTENTS MUCH LIKE A TOPICS PAGE

THAT DIRECTS YOU TO SPECIFIC

INFORMATION.

THIS IS A GOOD NOTE.

IF THERE IS AN FDA WARNING FOR

A MEDICATION, IT WILL BE LISTED

AND READ AS YOU CAN SEE ON THE

FIRST BOX ON THE LEFT.

THE SECOND SCREEN SHOT IS FROM

THE MEDLINE PLUS HERBS AND

SUPPLEMENTS SECTION.

AND THIS IS AN EXAMPLE THAT TAKE

YOU DIRECTLY TO THE NATIONAL

CENTER FOR COMPLEMENTARY

[INDISCERNIBLE] HEALTH WHICH IS

LINKED HERE.

THESE NLM RESOURCES CAN BE VERY

HELPFUL FOR LOCATING MEDICATION

INFORMATION.

THE DRUG INFORMATION PORTAL

GIVES USERS A GATEWAY TO SELECT

A DRUG INFORMATION FROM THE

U.S. NATIONAL LIBRARY OF

MEDICINE AND OTHER KEY

U.S. GOVERNMENT AGENCIES.

ON THE DRUG INFORMATION PORTAL

OR THE OVER 49,000 DRUGS CAN BE

SEARCHED FROM THE TIME THEY

ENTER CLINICAL TRIALS TO THE

TIME THEY ENTER THE

U.S. MARKETPLACE.

ON THE RIGHT IS PILLBOX AND THAT

WEBSITE WAS DEVELOPED TO HELP

IDENTIFY UNKNOWN PILLS.

IT COMBINES IMAGES OF PILL WITH

APPEARANCE AND OTHER INFORMATION

TO ENABLE USERS TO VISUALLY

SEARCH FOR AND IDENTIFY

MEDICATIONS.

SO FOR EXAMPLE, IF SOMEONE COMES

IN TO YOUR OFFICE OR YOU FIND A

BAG OF PILLS IN THE CLASSROOM

YOU CAN BEGIN TO SEARCH BY

IDENTIFYING IT.

THE SAME AS SOMEONE WHO TAKE

MULTIPLE PILLS, MULTIPLE TIMES A

DAY, DROPS AND SPILLS THEIR PILL

CASE OR IF YOU HAVE AN ELDERLY

PARENT AND YOU'RE TRYING TO

IDENTIFY THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN

PRESCRIBED TO THEM, PILLBOX IS

AN EXCELLENT TOOL.

YOU'LL BE ABLE TO NARROW DOWN BY

USING IMPRINT, COLOR, SIZE AND

SHAPE AND IT'S MOBILE FRIENDLY

WHICH IS WHY I SHARED THE MOBILE

VERSION.

USING PILLBOX IS A NICE

ALTERNATIVE TO BROWSE THROUGH

REFERENCE TEXT OR GO TO A

PHARMACY OR A BAD ALTERNATIVE IS

CALLING AUTHORITIES OVER A BAG

OF TYLENOL OR SOMETHING LIKE

THAT.

SO THIS IS MY SEARCH IN PILLBOX

FOR BROWN AND PINK PILLS.

IT SHOWS IMAGES WITH A LITTLE

BIT INFORMATION THAT YOU MIGHT

BE ON THE RIGHT PATH TO

IDENTIFYING A PILL.

AND AGAIN, PILLBOX IS MOBILE AND

DESK TOP FRIENDLY.

SO THIS IS NOT THE NATIONAL

LIBRARY OF MEDICINE RESOURCE BUT

I THINK IT'S VERY USEFUL FOR

IDENTIFYING ILLEGAL DRUGS

THROUGH PHOTOS.

THIS IS GET SMART ABOUT DRUGS AT

THE DEA WHICH IS THE DRUG

ENFORCEMENT RESOURCE FOR PARENTS

AND EDUCATORS AND CAREGIVERS AND

YOU CAN CLICK ON INFORMATION HOW

A SUBSTANCE IS USED, PHOTOS HOW

IT CAN BE FOUND AND HOW IT'S

DISTRIBUTED AND OTHER

INFORMATION.

DRUGS IN BREAST MILK POSE A

POTENTIAL RISK TO THE BREAST FED

INFANT AND LACTMED WHICH IS THE

DATABASE FOR LACTATION PROVIDES

HEALTH CARE PRACTITIONERS AND

OTHERS FOR DATA FOR DRUGS ON

WHICH BREAST-FEEDING MOTHERS MAY

BE EXPOSED AND THE EFFECT ON

INFANT AND THE LACTMED CONTAINS

ABOUT 1,000 RECORDS ON DRUGS,

HERBALS AND DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS

INCLUDING SUMMARIES, POTENTIAL

ALTERNATIVE MEDICATIONS AND

REFERENCES THAT ARE LINKED TO

THEIR RESPECTIVE PUBMED RECORD.

LACTMED IS ENDORSE THE AMERICAN

ASSOCIATION OF PEDIATRICS SO IF

YOU'RE WORK BEING WITH TEEN

MOTHERS THIS IS A RESOURCE THEY

SHOULD ABSOLUTELY KNOW THIS IS A

TOOL THAT WAS DEVELOPED BY THE

UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH AND

THIS IS CLINICAL E-COMPANION AND

A FREE POINT OF CARE INFORMATION

TOOL FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

WITHOUT ACCESS TO HOSPITAL OR

UNIVERSITY RESOURCE.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE FEATURES I

HAVE AS A POP-OUT WHERE YOU'LL

SEE MEDSCAPE IS A POP-OUT I

CREATED AND ADDED A FEW COMMON

PRESCRIPTIONS AND NO DRUG

INTERACTION FOUND AND THERE'S

ALSO A SEARCH FEATURE TO FIND

HEALTH RESOURCES AND PRINT-OUTS

BASED ON DEMOGRAPHICS LIKE SEX,

AGE, AND SEXUAL ACTIVITY.

AND NIH HAS TWO CENTERS YOU CAN

USE TO FIND INFORMATION ABOUT

SUPPLEMENTS AND OTHER

ALTERNATIVE MEDICATION OPTIONS.

THE OFFICE OF DIETARY

SUPPLEMENTS PROVIDES FACT SHEETS

FOR BOTH PROFESSIONALS AND

CONSUMERS.

IT ALSO PROVIDES INFORMATION IN

LIST SERVE AND SOCIAL MEDIA

FORMATS.

THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR

COMPLIMENTARY AND INTEGRATIVE

HEALTH HAS AN A TO Z HEALTH

TOPICS LIST, AS WELL AS HERBS AT

A GLANCE ALSO AVAILABLE AS A

MOBILE APP CALLED HERBALIST ALL

ONE WORD, HERBALIST, AND THERE'S

INFORMATION ON HOW TO FIND

ALTERNATIVE PRACTITIONER.

SO NOW WE'LL TALK ABOUT

MULTILANGUAGE AND MULTICULTURAL

RESOURCES.

MANY PEOPLE SPEAK ANOTHER

LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH IN

THE UNITED STATES.

AND SOME COME FROM A VARIETY OF

CULTURES WHETHER THEY'RE MIGRANT

WORKERS OR IMMIGRANT.

FOR SOME THE PRINT MATERIALS IN

THEIR OWN LANGUAGE IS IMPORTANT

AND IF POSSIBLE WITH CULTURAL

RESPECT AND IN THE LANGUAGE

PREFERRED SO HOPE FULLY WE CAN

GIVE YOU RESOURCES FOR THAT

GOAL.

FIRST AND FOREMOST, MEDLINE PLUS

HAS A TWIN SITE IN SPANISH.

IT IS NOT EVERY SINGLE MEDLINE

PLUS RESOURCE BUT IT IS MANY.

SOME INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE IN

OTHER LANGUAGES RELATIVE TO

ENGLISH AND SPANISH AND THIS CAN

BE FOUND BY SEARCHING EITHER BY

THE HEALTH TOPIC SEARCHING

ASTHMA AND SEEING HOW MANY

HEALTH TOPICS FOR ASTHMA ARE IN

DIFFERENT LANGUAGES OR IF THEY

KNOW A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE AND

TRYING TO FIND A HEALTH TOPIC

THAT WAY.

WHEN YOU SEARCH ON HEALTH

INFORMATION FOR OTHER LANGUAGES

ON MEDLINE PLUS IT TAKES YOU

HERE.

HERE'S AN EXAMPLE I WANTED TO

SHOW THAT'S ACCIDENT.

THE ENGLISH VERSION IS INCLUDED

WITH THE OTHER LANGUAGE WHICH

ALLOWS YOU TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT

YOU'RE SHARING WITH A STUDENT OR

FAMILY MEMBER.

SO HERE IS A NEBULIZER TREATMENT

IN ENGLISH AND JAPANESE.

ANOTHER SOURCE FOR MULTICULTURAL

INFORMATION IS OUTREACH IT'S A

NATIONAL COLLABORATIVE

PARTNERSHIP THAT CREATED

MULTILINGUAL, MULTICULTURAL

HEALTH INFORMATION FOR THOSE

PROVIDING HEALTH CARE FOR THOSE

WITH LIMITED ENGLISH LITERACY

AND IT INCLUDES VARIOUS

LANGUAGES IN FACT SHEETS AND

PROVIDER TOOLS LIKE BEST

PRACTICES AN CULTURAL

INFORMATION AND EFFECTIVE USE OF

INTERPRETERS.

AND YOU CAN USE HEALTH REACH BY

TOPIC SELECTING A LANGUAGE OR

SEARCH BY FORMAT WHETHER YOU

WANT TO DEFINE DOCUMENTS, AUDIO

OR VIDEO.

IS THE NIH HAS CREATED A SECTION

OF MATERIALS IN THEIR WEBSITE

AVAILABLE IN SPANISH.

SOME INFORMATION AT THE NIH

INSTITUTES ALSO COME IN OTHER

LANGUAGES SUCH AS AT THE

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ARTHRITIS

AND MUSCULOSKELETAL SKIN

DISEASES.

BUT AGAIN, MOST LANGUAGE

RESOURCES WILL BE LINKED BY

MEDLINE PLUS OR HEALTH REACH.

ETHNOMED PROVIDES CULTURALLY

APPROPRIATE HEALTH CARE WITH

RESPECT.

ETHNOMED PROVIDES ON HEALTH CARE

PROVIDER NEEDS WHEN WORKING WITH

IMMIGRANTS.

TOPICS INCLUDE CHILD REARING,

SEXUAL HEALTH, CHILD BIRTH AND

DISEASE.

SOME INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE

FOR PATIENTS IN OTHER LANGUAGES

BUT THIS IS MOSTLY A

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING TOOL.

SO NOW WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT

SOME PROFESSIONAL RESOURCES

INCLUDING REFERENCE RESOURCES,

TEACHING AND CONTINUING

EDUCATION INFORMATION INCLUDING

A COUPLE BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS.

SO PUBMED.

PUBMED COMPRISES MORE THAN 29

MILLION CITATIONS FOR BIOMEDICAL

LITERATURE FROM SCIENCE JOURNALS

AND ONLINE BOOKS AND IT MAY

INCLUDE PUBLISHER WEBSITES.

NLM IS THE CREATOR OF MEDLINE

WHICH IS AN INDEX OF MEDICAL

LITERATURE AND IT IS THE BULK OF

PUBMED AND CAN BE RESEARCHED

FREELY.

IT INCLUDES TUTORIALS AND ACCESS

TO ARTICLES VIA PUBMED CENTRAL.

PUBMED HAS A LEARNING CURVE AND

THIS IS A WARNING THAT PUBMED

MOMENT BUT OF COURSE THERE WILL

BE TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL

MATERIALS ALONG WITH THAT SO

WHETHER YOU'RE NEW TO PUBMED OR

NEVER USED IT SO THINKING OF

MEDLINE PLUS AS YOUR CONSUMER

HEALTH PORTAL AND IF YOU'RE

DOING RESEARCH ON A TOPIC, THEN

PUBMED IS THE PROFESSIONAL LEVEL

OF THE RESOURCE YOU'LL WANT.

AGAIN, THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF

MEDICINE PAGE OFFERS A WEALTH OF

RESOURCES BEYOND WHAT WE'RE

COVERING TODAY SO TAKE A LOOK AT

THE RESOURCES FOR YOU TAB WHICH

I HIGHLIGHTED WHICH IS GEARED

TOWARDS SPECIFIC PROFESSIONALS

AND ORGANIZATIONS.

FOR EXAMPLE, FOR RESEARCHERS OR

PUBLISHERS, LIBRARIAN OR HEALTH

CARE PROFESSIONALS.

THE DIRECTOR CAME ON BOARD A FEW

YEARS AGO, DR.

PATRICIA BRENNAN

IS THE FIRST WOMAN AND NURSE TO

BE AN NLM DIRECTOR AND HAS A

MASTERS IN NURSING AND HER Ph.D.

IN INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING.

HER BLOG IS ON THE MAIN PAGE.

THE CDC HAS A WHOLE SECTION ON

SCHOOL HEALTH WIN RESEARCH,

DATA, PROGRAMS, TRAINING AND

TOOLS AND MORE INFORMATION CAN

BE FORWARDED TO ADMINISTRATION

FOR THEIR USE AS WELL AS PARENTS

WHO PLAY A ROLE IN HEALTH AND

THE TOOL ON THE RIGHT SHOWS HOW

HEALTH HAS A PLACE OR A ROLE IN

VARIOUS PARTS OF THE SCHOOL OR

COMMUNITY.

THAT'S CDC HEALTHY SCHOOLS.

IT CONTAINS A WEALTH OF

INFORMATION.

HERE'S ANOTHER INFORMATION

SPECIFICALLY REGARDING

ADOLESCENT AND SCHOOL HEALTH AND

THERE MAY BE SIMILAR ITEMS THAT

CONNECT HEALTHY SCHOOLS BUT AS

YOU CAN SEE, THERE ARE FACT

SHEETS, PLACES TO LOOK FOR

FUNDED PROGRAMS AND HEALTH

SERVICES FOR TEENS.

THIS IS THE CDC ADOLESCENT AND

SCHOOL HEALTH PAGE.

SO AS WE ALL KNOW IT'S TO HELP

ALL HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS SO

SUPPORT PATIENTS AND FAMILIES

THROUGHOUT THE CARE CONTINUUM,

ESPECIALLY IN TRANSITIONS

BETWEEN HEALTH CARE SETTING.

THE TOOL KIT COMBINES HEALTHY

LITERACY PRINCIPLES OF PLAIN

LANGUAGE AND [INDISCERNIBLE] TO

CON TERM PATIENT UNDERSTANDING

AND COMPREHENSION.

I THINK THIS IS A GREAT

FRAMEWORK FOR PATIENTS AND

NURSES AN LIBRARIANS AND

EVERYONE.

I READ THESE TIPS THE FIRST TIME

I THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD WAY TO

COMMUNICATE WITH ANYONE NOT JUST

PATIENTS AND IT JUST INCLUDES

USING NON-SHAPING OPEN-ENDED

QUESTIONS AN ALWAYS USING PLAIN

LANGUAGE FOR SAY CONGESTIVE

HEART FAILURE, NOT USING CHF AND

THINGS LIKE THAT TO FEEL FREE TO

RUN THROUGH THE LIST AND USE THE

RESOURCE I SHARED EARLIER

[INDISCERNIBLE] THERE'S AN EIGHT

HOUR TRAINING AND SOME PEOPLE

MAY HAVE ATTENDED BEFORE.

I DID A FEW YEARS AGO WHEN I WAS

STILL WORKING IN THE PUBLIC

LIBRARY.

IF THERE ARE EVER NEEDS FOR A

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

OPPORTUNITIES FOR COLLEAGUES

AROUND MENTAL HEALTH, THIS IS

SOMETHING TO LOOK IN TO.

SOMETIMES THE COST IS ZERO OR

THERE'S A SMALL FEE SOME CAN

ATTEND SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR A

REASONABLE FEE.

THERE'S HUNDREDS OF TRAINERS

ACROSS THE UNITED STATES,

POSSIBLY THOUSANDS THAT

RECEIVING THE TRAINING.

SO THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF

MEDICINE HAS TRAVELLING

EXPEDITIONS MADE AVAILABLE FREE

OF CHARGES TO UNIVERSITIES,

LIBRARIES AND THERE'S A SHIP

FREE.

CONTACT YOUR NNLM REGIONAL

LIBRARY TO INQUIRE ABOUT

OCCASIONAL FUNDING SOURCES TO

HELP WITH THAT.

THE TRAVELLING EXHIBITION IS

COMPRISED OF BANNERS WHICH

THERE'S USUALLY SIX OF THEM

WHICH CONTAIN INFORMATION ABOUT

THEIR PARTICULAR TOPIC BUT THE

MAIN INFORMATION IS ALSO ALL

ONLINE.

THE BANNERS PROVIDE AN

OPPORTUNITY FOR PROGRAMS OR TO

HIGHLIGHT YOUR SERVICES.

THE PERMANENT ONLINE EXHIBITIONS

ENHANCED BY MULTI-DISCIPLINARY

AND CAREER RESOURCES.

THERE'S INFORMATION FOR

EDUCATORS AND STUDENTS IN K-12

INCLUDING COLLEGES AND

UNIVERSITIES.

THESE THE NMLM AND ANOTHER IS

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANCE AND

COLLABORATION AND CARE EXHIBIT

WHICH DESCRIBED THE PROFESSIONAL

AND HOW IT WAS DEVELOPED TO MEET

HEALTH CARE NEEDS IN THE

MID-20th CENTURY AND HOW THEY

CONTINUE TO EVOLVE TODAY.

SEEN HERE IS THE PICTURES OF

NURSING THE POST CARD COLLECTION

WHICH PRESENTS A SELECTION OF

HISTORIC POST CARDS FROM NLMs

RECENTLY ACQUIRED COLLECTION

SPANNING A CENTURY OF NURSING

IMAGERY.

AND THESE ARE NLM EXHIBITIONS

THAT FOCUS ON HEALTH ISSUES IN

PARTICULAR.

SO THE FIRST WHICH IS OVER ON

THE LEFT IS CONFRONTING VIOLENCE

WHICH HIGHLIGHT THE ROLE NURSES

PLAYED IN THE FIGHT AGAINST

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INCLUDING

NURSE PERFORMERS FROM THE FRONT

LINES OF EMERGENCY ROOMS TO

LEADING IN ADVOCACY IN THE 1984

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN'S ACT.

THE SECOND IS NATIVE VOICES

WHICH EXPLORE THE

INTERCONNECTEDNESS OF WELLNESS,

ILLNESS AND CULTURAL LIFE FOR

NATIVE AMERICANS AND ALASKAN

NATIVES AND NATIVE HAWAIIANS.

THE THIRD THAT IS IN THE FRONT

HERE IS GEOGRAPHIC MEDICINE,

ILL-CONCEIVED AND WELL DRAWN.

IT'S A NEW NLM TRAVELLING

EXHIBIT ABOUT THE USE OF COMICS

AND GRAPHIC NOVELS AS A FORM OF

COMMUNICATION IN HEALTH.

GEOGRAPHIC MEDICINE IS THE USE

OF COMICS TO TELL PERSONAL

STORIES ABOUT ILLNESS AND HEALTH

TO PUT IT SIMPLY.

GEOGRAPHIC NOVELS ARE A GROWING

GENRE AND MORE AND MORE ARTISTS

AND WRITERS ARE EXPRESSING

THEMSELVES IN THIS ACCESSIBLE

MEDIUM.

SO THIS MIGHT BE A REALLY NICE

EXHIBIT TO SHARE WITH YOUR

SCHOOL'S ART AND EDUCATION AND

ENGLISH DEPARTMENTS OR FOR YOUR

SCHOOL LIBRARY AND THEN OF

COURSE WITH THE STUDENTS WE KNOW

HAVE AN INTEREST IN GEOGRAPHIC

NOVELS AND COMICS.

SO GEOGRAPHIC MEDICINE COMBINES

VISUAL STORY TELLING AND

MEDICINE CREATING A UNIQUE

OPPORTUNITY FOR READERS TO

EXPERIENCE AND LEARN ABOUT

HEALTH CARE EXPERIENCES THROUGH

COMICS.

SO THE NATIONAL NETWORK OF

LIBRARIES OF MEDICINE MIDDLE

ATLANTIC REGION OFFICE

CIRCULATES GRAPHIC MEDICINE CLUB

KITS.

THEY'RE NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE

OUTSIDE THE NEW ENGLAND REGION

BUT THE DISCUSSION MATERIALS AND

GUIDES ARE FREE ONLINE AND

LINKED HERE.

TOPICS INCLUDE ADDICTION,

EPILEPSY, GRIEF, CANCER AMONG

OTHERS AND PICTURED HERE IS ONE

OF MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE BOOKS,

FUN HOME, WHICH EXPLORES EACH

EXPLORES SEXUAL IDENTITY AND

MENTAL HEALTH.

IF IT RINGS A BELL YOU MAY

RECOGNIZE IT AS IT'S NOW A

PRETTY POPULAR BROADWAY SHOW.

AS YOU KNOW SINCE YOU WERE

REGISTERED FOR A WEBINAR TODAY,

NLM OFFERS A WIDE VARIETY OF

CLASSES TO NETWORK MEMBERS TO

SEE THE WIDE ARRAY OF OUR

CLASSES YOU CAN BROWSE THE CLASS

DESCRIPTIONS AND YOU CAN SEE

YOUTH AND SENIOR AND REFUGEE AND

IMMIGRANT POPULATIONS AND TOPICS

ON MANY MORE AND CREDIT IS THE

CONSUMER HEALTH INFORMATION

SPECIALIZATION FROM THE MEDICAL

LIBRARY ASSOCIATION SO THERE'S

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE.

THERE'S QUITE A WIDE ARRAY.

SO THIS IS AN UPCOMING CLASS

SUGGESTION.

THIS ONE IS FOOD FOR THOUGHT,

EXPLORING NUTRITIONAL

INFORMATION RESOURCES.

THIS CLASS IS DESIGNED TO ASSIST

LIBRARIANS, PUBLIC HEALTH

WORKERS, PUBLIC HEALTH

PROFESSIONALS AND THE GENERAL

PUBLIC IN LOCATING AUTHORITATIVE

INFORMATION.

THERE IS DEFINITELY GOING TO BE

SOME BASIC VOCABULARY AND

IDENTIFYING RESOURCES AN

COVERING INTERNET SITES AND

PRINT RESOURCES FOR NUTRITION

TOPICS.

THE NEXT IS IMPROVING THE

HEALTH, AND WELL BEING OF LGBTQ

AND PARTICIPANTS WILL DEVELOP A

BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE

HEALTH INFORMATION NEEDS OF THE

LGBT COMMUNITY AND THEY'LL LOOK

AT COMPETENCY FOR THE HEALTH

CARE TEAM.

PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ABLE TO

IDENTIFY ELECTRONIC PRINT AND

OTHER RESOURCES FOR LGBT COLLECT

AND REFERENCES MATERIALS AND

YOU'LL GAIN STRATEGIES FOR

OUTREACH TO THE LGBT COMMUNITY

AND WHERE THERE ARE

INTERPROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

FOR LIBRARIANS AND OTHERS.

THERE'S AN EXCELLENT RESOURCE

GUIDE LINKED AND THE CLASS IS

RECORD.

THERE'S ONE COMING UP IN MARCH

BUT THERE WAS A PREVIOUS CLASS

YOU'RE WELCOME TO LOOK AT YOUR

LEISURE AND JUST TO BRING

EVERYONE ON THE SAME PAGE SINCE

I'VE MENTIONED CULTURAL

COMPETENCY A LITTLE BIT, IT'S

DEFINED AS THE ABILITY OF

PROVIDERS AND ORGANIZATIONS TO

AFFECTIVELY DELIVER SERVICES

THAT MEET THE SOCIAL, CULTURAL

AND LINGUISTIC NEEDS OF

PATIENTS, CUSTOMERS AND

STUDENTS.

SO NOW WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT

YOUTH HEALTH ISSUES

SPECIFICALLY.

SO SUICIDE PREVENTION RESOURCES.

SUICIDE IS THE SECOND MOST

COMMON CAUSE OF DEATH AMONG 10

TO 14 AND IT OFTEN OCCURS WHEN

STRESSORS EXCEED CURRENT COPING

ABILITIES OF SOMEONE SUFFERING

FROM A MENTAL HEALTH CONDITION

AND THAT IS THE DEFINITION I

ALWAYS USE WHEN I TEACH SO I'M

GOING READ IT AGAIN.

IT MOST OFTEN OCCURS WHEN

STRESSORS EXCEED THE CURRENT

COPING ABILITIES OF SOMEONE

SUFFERING FROM A MENTAL HEALTH

CONDITION.

MAKING INFORMATION AVAILABLE

ABOUT TALK AND TEXT HOT LINES IS

A CONCRETE FIRST STEP YOU CAN DO

TO HELP PREVENT SUICIDE AMONG

OUR YOUTH.

SO HERE I HAVE THE NATIONAL

SUICIDE PREVENTION LIFE LINE AND

THERE'S ALSO CRISIS TEXT AND

ANOTHER REMINDER IN THE RESOURCE

GUIDE THEY LINKED, THERE'S A

WEALTH OF RESOURCES BEYOND WHAT

I'M SHARING HERE.

THE AMERICAN FOUNDATION FOR

SUICIDE PREVENTION HAS A NEATLY

ORGANIZED WEBSITE WITH RISK

FACTORS AND WARNING SIGNS WITH

NICE GRAPHICS ON THE WEBSITE AND

THESE THE SUICIDE WARNING SIGNS

I CAPTURED FROM THEIR SITE.

MEDLINE PLUS ALSO HAS

INFORMATION ON MULTIPLE

LANGUAGES AGAIN AS A REMINDER

THAT MEDLINE PLUS IS OFTEN YOUR

GATEWAY OF FINDING HIGH-QUALITY

RESOURCES LIKE RESOURCES FROM

THE AMERICAN FOUNDATION FOR

SUICIDE PREVENTION.

SO AN ESTIMATED 1.9 MILLION

AMERICANS HAVE A PRESCRIPTION

OPIOID USE DISORDER WHILE

ANOTHER 586,000 HAVE A HEROIN

USE DISORDER.

A CLASS THAT WAS RECENTLY TAUGHT

IS INFORMATION THE OPIOID

CRISIS: WHERE DO I BEGIN?

IT'S A CLASS THAT HELPS

INTRODUCE ANYONE TO

UNDERSTANDING WHAT ADDICTION AND

OPIOIDS ARE AND WHERE YOU CAN

FIND AUTHORITATIVE INFORMATION

TO HELP UNDERSTAND THAT IS A

COMPLEX EPIDEMIC AND IT HAS

RESOURCES AN SUPPORT AND MORE.

IT WAS FIRST TAUGHT IN NOVEMBER

AND CURRENTLY NOT SCHEDULED BUT

THE RECORDING IS AVAILABLE AS

WELL AS THE RESOURCE GUIDE WHICH

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TAKE A

LOOK AT IF ADDICTION IS A BURDEN

AND SOMETHING THAT YOU'RE

COMMUNITY IS WORKING THROUGH.

MEDLINE PLUS HAS TOPICS FOR TEEN

VIOLENCE.

SO THIS IS A LITTLE BIT ABOUT

COPING WITH VIOLENCE INCLUDING

BULLYING, WARNING SIGNS, DATING

AND VIOLENCE PREVENTION.

AND AGAIN, PLEASE SEE THE COURSE

RESOURCE LIST.

I INCLUDED SEVERAL ARTICLES

ABOUT TALKING TO CHILDREN ABOUT

VIOLENCE IN THE NEWS FROM THE

AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PEDIATRICS

AN THE NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO AS

WELL THEY FOUND PRETTY HELPFUL.

STOPBULLYING.gov HAS TARGETS FOR

RELIGION OR CHRONIC HEALTH

CONDITION OR SEXUAL IDENTIFY OR

GENDER EXPRESSION AND THERE'S

INFORMATION ABOUT CYBER BULLYING

AND THERE'S AN ONLINE PREVENTION

CLASS THAT CAN BE TAKEN.

AND AGAIN, JUST TO DEMONSTRATE

HOW VALUABLE MEDLINE PLUS IS,

THERE'S A HEALTH TOPICS PAGE FOR

BULLYING.

SO THE IN VISIBLE DISEASE,

MENTAL HEALTH.

THERE'S A LOT OF STIGMA AROUND

MENTAL HEALTH AND IT DOESN'T

MATTER WHETHER IT'S A SERIOUS

NEURO CONDITION OR STRESS AT

HOME AND THE SAMHSA IS A BRANCH

OF THE U.S. HEALTH DEPARTMENT OF

HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES LIKE

NIH IS.

CHECK OUT THEIR PAGE ON SCHOOL

AND CAMPUS HEALTH.

INFORMATION IS ALSO AVAILABLE

AFTER TRAUMATIC EVENTS SUCH AS

SCHOOL SHOOTINGS AND/OR SUICIDE

AND THAT'S LINKED HERE.

SO SPORTS ARE A BIG PART OF

SCHOOL LIFE AS ARE SPORTS

INJURIES.

MEDLINE PLUS HAS INFORMATION FOR

SCHOOL NURSES BUT IT CAN ALSO BE

PASSED ON TO COACHES, GYM

TEACHERS AND DIRECTLY TO PARENTS

AND GUARDIANS.

OVER ON THE RIGHT IT'S FROM THE

CDC'S HEAD'S UP PROGRAM AND IT'S

ABOUT HEAD INJURIES AND INCLUDES

FACT SHEETS, A SYMPTOMS

CHECKLIST AND INFORMATION IN

SPANISH.

THE PRINTABLE GRAPHICS ARE

EXCELLENT AND DEALING WITH

CONCUSSIONS IS ANYTHING THAT YOU

SEE IN YOUR WORK LIFE, THIS IS A

RESOURCE THAT YOU SHOULD

DEFINITELY CONSULT.

SO CHILDHOOD OBESITY IS ALSO IN

THE NEWS.

MEDLINE PLUS HAS INFORMATION

ABOUT CHILD OBESITY AND CHOOSE

MY PLATE WEBSITE HAS A LOT OF

TOOLS.

MARCH IS NATIONAL NUTRITION

MONTH AND CHOOSE BY PLATE

USUALLY HAS A HASH TAG CAMPAIGN.

YOU CAN POSSIBLY DO YOUR OWN

CAMPAIGN AT YOUR SCHOOL.

THERE'S A LOT OF OTHER RESOURCES

FOR WAYS TO INTERESTINGLY ENGAGE

KIDS AT YOUR SCHOOL WHETHER IT'S

THROUGH AN ART PROGRAM WHERE

KIDS COULD DESIGN THEIR OWN

PLATE BUT ANYWAY, IF YOU WANTED

TO EXPLORE NUTRITION A LITTLE

BIT MORE, THAT'S A NICE WAY FOR

YOU.

NATIONAL IMMUNIZATION MONTH IS

IN AUGUST AND THIS IS WAY TO

COLLABORATE TO PROVIDE

IMMUNIZATIONS AND YOU CAN USE

TRUSTS RESOURCES LIKE MEDLINE

PLUS OR CDC REGARDING

INFORMATION ON IMMUNIZATION

SCHEDULES AND THE CDC HAS A LOT

OF INFORMATION ABOUT ADULT

IMMUNIZATIONS AS WELL.

SO IF I HAVE ONE ASK OF YOU IS

TO ALWAYS CHECK MEDLINE PLUS FOR

HEALTH INFORMATION EVEN IF

YOU'RE A PERSON THAT FIRST GOES

TO GOOGLE.

THE NEXT TIME WANT TO SEARCH

ASTHMA, GO TO MED LINE PLUS.

I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR

YOUR TIME.

I KNOW IT'S NOT ALWAYS EASY TO

FIND AN HOUR AND HOPE YOU PICKED

UP VALUABLE RESOURCE FOR YOUR

WORK AND YOUR LIFE.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO STAY ON THE

CALL, I'M HAPPY TO ANSWER

QUESTIONS AT THIS POINT BUT AT

ANY POINT WHILE YOU EXIT, I

WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IF YOU

DID OUR EVALUATION.

SO I AM NOW GOING TO TAKE A PEEK

AT ANY QUESTIONS.

WELL, THANK YOU FOR THE KIND

WORDS.

SO WE HAVE A THANK YOU FROM

JUDY.

I WAS HOPING TO COVER A LOT OF

RESOURCES.

SOME A LITTLE BIT MORE IN DEPTH

BUT ESSENTIALLY THIS IS A

RESOURCE DUMP AND I'M HOPING

WITH A WIDE AUDIENCE THAT

EVERYONE WILL SEE SOMETHING

THAT'S GOOD.

I WILL ALSO SAY THIS IS THE

FIRST TIME I EVER TAUGHT A

WEBINAR SO PLEASE, WHEN YOU EXIT

AND DO THE FEEDBACK, I WOULD

LOVE TO GET ANY INFORMATION, ANY

FEEDBACK YOU HAVE POSITIVE OR

NEGATIVE.

AND YEAH, SO ON THE COURSE PAGE

POSSIBLY WITHIN THE NEXT 15

MINUTES I'LL LOAD UP THE POWER

POINT VERSION OF THESE SLIDES

AND THE RESOURCE GUIDE IS

ALREADY THERE.

SO PLEASE USE AWAY.

TAKE PIECES OF IT.

IF YOU DO LIKE FIVE-MINUTE

TRAININGS AT YOUR SCHOOLS OR

HOSPITALS, WHENEVER YOU ARE,

EVERYTHING HERE IS 508 COMPLIANT

SO IT'S READY TO GO.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR EVERYONE'S

KIND WORDS.

I'LL HANG ON IN CASE ANYONE IS

STILL TYPING QUESTIONS.

I GUESS I CAN TELL YOU ALL A

LITTLE BIT ABOUT MYSELF.

SO I AM BY TRAINING A CHILDREN'S

AND TEEN LIBRARIAN.

SO I WORKED PRIMARILY IN PUBLIC

LIBRARIES UNTIL LAST SUMMER WHEN

I STARTED WORKING WITH NNLM AND

STARTED WORKING WITH SCHOOL

NURSES AND PUBLISH LIBRARIANS

AND EDUCATORS.

THAT'S A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MY

BACKGROUND.

TAKE A LOOK AT OUR WEBSITE AND

MY E-MAIL IS UP HERE.

FEEL FREE TO E-MAIL ANY TIME.

I'M ALWAYS HAPPY TO ASK

QUESTIONS.

IF YOU SEE ME AT A CONFERENCE,

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SAY HI.

THANK YOU EVERYBODY FOR THEIR

KIND WORDS.

LIKE I SAID, I'LL HANG ON FOR

JUST ANOTHER MINUTE BUT FEEL

FREE TO EXIT WHENEVER YOU FEEL

DONE AND DO A VERY QUICK

EVALUATION.

IN THE IN THE EVALUATION IF

YOU'RE EARNING CREDIT THROUGH

NMLA THERE'S A LINK TO

AUTHENTICATE WITH THE CODE.

AND YOU CAN EXIT BY HITTING THE

"X" BOX IN THE CISCO WEBEX

TRAINING BOX AND I SHUT

AUTOMATICALLY POPULATE THE

EVALUATION IN WHATEVER BROWSER

YOU USE.

HEY, JUDY, I JUST READ YOUR

MESSAGE.

IT'S INTERESTING WE WENT

OPPOSITE PATHS.

OKAY.

SO AT THIS TIME WE'RE GOING TO

EXIT.

LIKE I SAID, IF ANYONE IS STILL

LISTENING IN ANY QUESTIONS FEEL

FREE TO SEND IN ANY QUESTIONS AN

THANKS FOR ATTENDING TODAY.

HAVE A GOOD DAY.

THANKS FOR WATCHING.

-------------------------------------------

I SPENT $103,430.05 ON FACEBOOK ADS LAST MONTH!! - Duration: 12:50.

What's up you guys Jason Wardrop here and this past month was absolutely crazy with Facebook ads

Okay, and I want to share some of these cool things that have happened over the past month with you all now

obviously it was the beginning of a new year and so you've got your new goals new resolutions and everyone's excited and

Hopefully you're still sticking to your resolutions to those schools that you made now

One of the coolest things personally that happened for me was I passed?

20,000 subscribers right here on YouTube, which if you are one of my loyal subscribers, I am very grateful for you

Thank you so much for the support. I hope you have found some value in this channel

I really enjoy putting together these videos for you

So I hope that you have found some value at least a little bit and I think that we have now passed over

23,000 subscribers which a little shout-out to MJ right here, but that was one of my greatest accomplishments

I feel in this past month. Then another cool thing is we celebrated my wife's birthday and on her actual birthday

We went up to Park City and we checked out several ski-in ski-out

Cabins, which I kind of called this dream shopping right? Like it's not like we're gonna go buy one right now

We're not really quite there yet

These are like 1015 million dollar cabins, but it's really fun to grab Realtor

Someone that can go take you up there and just start to dream right? Like there was this one cabin that was

33,000 square feet

Fourteen master bedrooms right on the ski slopes there was two lifts going up guys. This thing was crazy

It was awesome. And there was other ones there was like ten twelve thousand square feet and these are aunts again

We're all like 10 to 15 million dollar cabins, which you know

Maybe one day I'll get there and hopefully bring us some of you guys my loyal subscribers up to the cabin to hang out

Go

You know hit the ski slopes for me where maybe he's in the summertime do some downhill mountain bike and some hiking some cool

Activities up in Park City then another kind of cool thing

That happened is my little boy my son. He rolled over for the first time which guys it was super exciting

He actually rolled over three times straight in a row

But it's now been about two to three weeks and he hasn't done it again since so we got to figure out what's wrong with

him now one thing that I like to do at the end of every month and a lot of times at the end of every

Week and I should probably do it every single day

but I like to take a look back at the week or the month and reflect and see all the positive things that have because

honestly, if you did it every single night at the end of the day, even if you had the worst day

there's things that you can be grateful for there are things that maybe you didn't notice but if you take the time to reflect

Like all these things. I just kind of list it off

You're like man

That's really cool and just be able to have be grateful and have gratitude for everything that's going on in your life now guys

I get it

I know you didn't show up to here to hear about my son rolling over for the first time or me passing 20,000 subscribers

Or any of this stuff, but I also spent over

$100,000 on Facebook ads just this past month and we're gonna get to that here in just a second

I'll show you guys the

Actual screen and so you guys can see inside my ads account that I really did spend over a hundred thousand dollars on

Facebook ads and honestly that doesn't even count any Google ad spend because we also spent a little bit of money over there

Which I haven't really ramped that up quite yet

But that was additional ad spend on top of the hundred thousand dollars on Facebook ads

But Before we jump in and I show you guys the actual screen and inside my ads accounts and all that stuff

I just wanted to break down three key important things that you need to know

To be able to get to that level in your business, right?

Because when I first started a few years back

I could have never

Imagined to spend a hundred thousand dollars on Facebook advertising like I could have never even imagined just even making a hundred thousand dollars in

Just one single month

Okay, but I've been able to learn a lot of tactics techniques be able to scale up my business to that point

I remember back in the day if I spent

$1,000 for the entire month. I felt like that was a lot of money

so I want to break down really quick the three key things that you need to know and

understand about your business before you can scale things from $1,000 per month to 10,000 to 50,000 100,000 and

Even beyond that right? So the first thing that is honestly the most important thing is make sure you have your tracking

Dialed in okay and your tracking is basically knowing how much you spent how many leads you?

Generated how many sales you're making how much money you're making and not just money you're making but how much cash you?

Collected that day and how much revenue you collected that day

so the difference between cash and revenue if you guys have been watching my channel here is cash is like money that you actually

collected that day

whereas revenue if somebody jumps on like a payment plan or a monthly subscription or something like that, that could be

Forecasted out for several months, right? So like my webinar, you can buy it for nine ninety seven or three or four payments of

367 now if someone jumps on the payment plan and they just pay

367 well, I only collected three hundred sixty-seven dollars

But the potential collected revenue is well over a thousand dollars. So I remember even just this past year guys

It's not it hasn't been long since I've really gotten my tracking dialed in a year ago today

I pretty much would throw money at Facebook and I was actually still spending quite a bit

I would spend about fifty to sixty thousand dollars in the beginning of 2018

Per month and then I was like, okay

I'm spending fifty to sixty thousand and as well, as long as I'm making more than that, then I'm good

I'm making money and I can pay all the bills

But I had no clarity or peace of mind when I was spending that money

So like if I went through and had a bad sales day or bad webinar bad, whatever

I was kind of freaking out right because I didn't know I didn't have that tracking dialed in so I didn't know if I spent

$1,000 if I was losing $1,000 or making $1,000 or what where I was at in my business

So that is the number one key point guys, make sure you have your tracking

Dialed in so, you know

If you're spending a hundred dollars that you're making at least

200 dollars back out with your business now key number two guys

It falls along the lines perfectly with tracking and that is knowing your lifetime value of your customer

Okay

so basically kind of break this down if you were to go spend one dollar on advertising and

That next day you made a dollar back and you break even that's great, right, but you might think well

Why should I go through and spend a dollar just to make a dollar back?

Because if there's refunds charge back, so there's like the processing fees all that stuff at the end of the day

You're like I'm actually losing money

Okay. Well the cool thing is is if that one dollar you spent is generating leads and customers where the

Lifetime value after three months is two dollars

Right or after six months is three dollars where if you're able to go through and wait that out

You're actually doubling and and five Exene your money that you spent initially on that advertisement now

I always try to make sure that I am not only breaking even but I'm actually making money on a rolling

Seven-day calendar so that basically means if I spent let's say $1,000 in a week. I try to make at least

$1,100 back that week

Knowing that I'm able to pay for all my ad spend and kind of have a little bit of a buffer for any refunds chargeback

Processing fees or anything else that might be happening

And then after that the lifetime value of all those leads and sales generated

Everything after that is just going to be complete profit for my business

So the way I kind of like to think about this is if you think about that study that's done on kind of willpower

Right where they had all these kids in a room and they put a Oreo cookie right in front of them and they're like look

You can either eat the Oreo cookie right now, or if you wait five minutes, we're gonna give you two Oreo cookies

Okay. Now most marketers most business owners. They're gonna eat that Oreo cookie, right?

They're just gonna be like going and trying to hey, I spent $10,000 on advertising this month. I better be making

$15,000 back right now, and I don't want to even like think about lifetime value or any of that

Well, if you actually wait and know your lifetime value of your customer

You can be making a lot more money

And if you have that tracking dialed in you can be a lot more confident in scaling your business

And just have that peace of mind

So you're not having to freak out every single day like I was back in the day

Not knowing your numbers not knowing your tracking not knowing your lifetime value of your customer and those leads that you could potentially

Collect more money down the road as well. Alright, so the number three key point

now this guy's this take is a grain of salt because I

Highly recommend if you're just starting out with your business, if you're really spending less than fifty to sixty thousand dollars per month

Which most people are going to be just focus on one ad

Network, okay

Don't go be spending money on Facebook and be spending money on YouTube and Google and all these different platforms

Because really it's like every single ad platform is a completely different beast

The quality of leads is different the people that are on it are different

So you have to really take that in consideration and it's really a little bit of a learning curve to get to that point

Now with that said if you are going through and advertising on Facebook and YouTube and Google and all these different platforms

It's really important to keep your tracking

Separate so any money that is spent on AdWords

you need to track that directly to the leads that are generated from your AdWords ads and

The sales that are generated from those ads as well

Versus with Facebook you want to keep that all in one tracking sheet as well? Because honestly,

that's where it gets tough for a lot of people and this is where I was pretty much all of last year and that was

The first year I really started spending money on Adwords. It was like I was spending money on Facebook ads

I was spending money on Google ads I was making sales

I was making money I was profitable but I had no idea if it was the Facebook as they were bringing in the money or

The YouTube ads the Google ads I had no idea

And so I was just throwing money at stuff and it was working. It was great

But because I didn't really know I didn't have that tracking down and the separate tracking on the different platforms

I didn't know if I should be focusing more on YouTube or more on Facebook or which ads were actually performing the best

Okay

So anyway guys those are the three key points that I would highly

Recommend you nail down to start scaling your business more and it's interesting because once you get these things nailed down

scaling becomes a lot easier

And you have a lot more peace of mind when taking things to the next level with your business now as promised guys

Let's jump on my computer

I'm going to show you guys inside my Facebook Ads account so you can see that I actually yes. I did spend the money

I was telling you I spent and then also I'll show you guys inside my Google Ads account just so you can see that was

Like a frat I think we spent like ten thousand or something like that

I don't even know but I'll show you guys in there as well

All right guys, so here we are in my Facebook Ads account

You can see I spent one hundred three thousand four hundred twenty six dollars and thirty cents

Now if you look up here

I did pull last two three days of December and the only reason being is because I

Did do a promo in early January where I started the ads in December 29th

Because kind of the holidays I shut my ads off for a couple of weeks because the ad costs are extremely expensive

So I was like, you know, I'm just not gonna spend any money

Okay, so if we actually look at just the month last month right there

We've got ninety four thousand seven hundred and fifty six dollars and thirty six cents now some of you guys might be thinking well Jason

You know, you're lying. It's like if you didn't spend over a hundred thousand dollars

Well, have you come over and look at AdWords as well?

We spent not that much. You can see about eight point four thousand

So eight thousand four hundred if I hover over this eight thousand four hundred and forty two dollars and ten cents

So even if you know, you don't pull the last couple days of December, it was still well over a hundred thousand dollars

But guys once again and as I've shown you guys before you need to keep this tracking separate. It's like right here

This is my AdWords tracking. You can see up here

I track all the leads and you can see right here

The ad spent eight thousand four hundred and sixty seven dollars is where I've got tracked right here

How many clicks how many leads how many sales all this stuff right here?

And then I also have one for Facebook ads as well. And so I can know exactly what is producing

The leads was producing the sales and how my business is really going on. So

Anyway guys, hopefully this was helpful as far as kind of breaking down and understanding how to go through and scale your business

I hope you guys are off to an amazing start in this new year and

Reflect take some time every single week or the first like I like to do the first weekend of every month of every new month

Look back and be like, okay, what were the cool good things that happen? What can I be grateful for?

What are the the things that I can just like reflect on and give me that that power that the boost to get me into?

this next month

So anyway guys, hopefully you out liked this video and if you did make sure you guys subscribe if you're not subscribed already also

Give it a thumbs up comment down below

Let me know he thought and with that said guys, thanks so much for watching and I'll talk to you all later

Valentine's Day Card featuring Large Letter Framelits - Duration: 21:01.

I just had like a really crappy thing that just happened I was washing one of

my stamps and it went down the sink and I opened up the p-trap my stamp wasn't

there so I lost a stand-up I'm so oh yeah well what do you do actually I'll

just tell you what stamp it is it's the one that I used on yesterday's project I

don't know if y'all saw this project from yesterday but it's that I love our

life together it just I guess it was just so small enough that the water just

pushed it out and so that stamp is is lost but if you're looking for a cute

card definitely watch yesterday's tutorial this was a kind of I was trying

to find create a like an out of the box Valentine's Day card so anyway it was a

lot of fun to make if you have this stamp just don't wash it down the sink

I'll tell you that it's so small anyway

today this is Kara from iStampin.com. thanks for joining me ladies I

thought that I would make another Valentine's Day card were gosh february

1st is this Friday so we're gonna be sending out our Valentine's here shortly

so I wanted to make another one and I just thought this card was so cute I'm

gonna show you all the supplies that I used first and then we'll we'll make it

it's actually a pretty simple card I used our large letter framelits to get

that X in the O and I actually doubled it up this happy Valentine's Day this is

coming from January's paper pumpkin stamp set these are exclusive to paper

pumpkin and I loved the stamp set so I wanted to use the happy Valentine's Day

so y'all have to tell me are y'all paper pumpkin subscribers and

do you ever reuse your your stamps I love to I love to keep them and to use

them for other occasions if you know sometimes the stamp I may not need it

and so you know mind giving it away but if you are a

paper pumpkin subscriber definitely pull this stamp set out because this happy

Valentine's Day is like super cute y'all are some of y'all aren't familiar with

what paper pumpkin is I'm it's a monthly subscription kit that Stampin Up offers

it's 1995 a month you get everything that you need for that month the only

thing that's included in that price is just tax so you would just add that I'll

put a link down below of how you can sign up and to start receiving paper

pumpkin through me um you do have to sign up by the 10th of every month to

get dot month's kit so for February you would want to sign up by February 10th

which is next week but this was the durable stamp set that we got so that's

where I got the happy Valentine's Day and let's see okay so let me show you

what we're gonna be using today this is featuring my product of the week

which is the all my love designer series paper this is in the occasions catalog

at the very front so you can see right here it's on page 5 has these beautiful

colors it's balmy blue crumb cake flirty

flamingo lovely lipstick soft seafoam and whisper white that is where you can

find this gorgeous paper so that's what we're gonna be using for the background

right there you're also going to need to get a scrap piece of your sparkle

glimmer paper then a scrap piece of whisper white cardstock that's where

we're gonna do the stamping and then flirty flamingos so we're gonna use both

of these papers for our die-cuts we're gonna die cut this also I'm using our

brand-new rectangle stitched framelits which are in the occasions catalog I

don't know if y'all noticed that but I used it to cut out the paper so it just

adds a little bit of that fun stitched detail so we're gonna need those

the accent oh are coming from our large letter framelit dies which is in our

annual catalog so there you can see that and so obviously you'll just need the

exit oh and we'll be die cutting those out twice we're gonna punch it out using

the classic label punch punching out our tag and then I'm using the solid whisper

white Baker's twine just to give a little bit of dimension and texture I

did a little double bow so I'll show you how to do that and then for the ink it

is flirty flamingos and then like I had mentioned earlier the stamp set that I'm

using is from January's paper pumpkin exclusive kit so I think that's it oh no

you need a card base so I've got thick whisper white um and then for adhesive

I'm using our foam adhesive strips and then our multi-purpose glue and that and

a glue dot to put the to put the UM buy one I think that's it now alright so

let's go ahead and make our card base and how is everybody doing on this

blustery cold Wednesday it's cold here in Florida too so it's nothing like what

is going on up in the north northern part of the state something like that

holy crap it's I was in Minnesota about probably close to ten years ago in

February you're probably asking me why would I go to Minnesota in February at

that time I was selling jewelry and our friends wanted me to fly up there to do

a jewelry party so my husband and I went up there I have never been so cold in my

entire life it was built it was neg of temperatures my lips have never been

so chapped before in my entire life okay so you saw that ice courted it five and

a half and I folded it and burnished it with my bone folder here I've got my big

shots we're gonna do all of our die-cutting at once and it's gonna shake

so I apologize for that I'll try to minimize it as much as possible

um I am using my magnetic platform and then I've got it clear-cutting plate

it's not so clear but you know what I mean and this is the largest rectangle

so it's gonna be about it's gonna be a little bit smaller than four by five and

a five and a quarter and mine's kind of jumping around so what I did is I cut

this paper like four and a quarter by five and a half and obviously with the

hearts the card being a portrait style you want to make sure that you cut your

card stock or card designer series paper the right way I'm just trying to get

this so it's not jumping around and actually I could die cut my love my

letters at the same time okay sometimes for whatever reason our framelits just

kind of jump around like that so if it doesn't stay in place um this is a great

way to use washi tape you just want to use something that's low tack so that

when you remove it it doesn't rip the paper okay put it right here okay and

hopefully that'll be okay okay and then I'm gonna go ahead and die cut my X an O

on the glimmer paper and then let's run this through now I will say I had to run

the rectangle framelit through twice when I

was doing it for my sample card um one side wouldn't wouldn't cut all

the way through so I want to make sure that I get it this way oh sorry about

that okay let me go ahead and die cut the forty Flamingo and then we'll be

done with this the table will stop shaking and stuff okay

great way to use up scraps - alrighty just poke these out so that's what it

looks like in flirty flamingo and then here is the sparkle glimmer paper right

there that's not pretty can y'all see that

alright and so let's just remove the washi tape even though it's slow tack

still you know remove it gently as sometimes you know it may stick alright

perfect alright and so that's what our stitched rectangle is like I love this

paper this is the back side some really really pretty floral hearts which

matched the stamp set so I love that okay actually you know what I'm going to

do first because I want this to set up I'm gonna go ahead and glue the the

letters together and then we can finish putting our card together because it

does take just a it just takes a few minutes to set this up so I'm using our

liquid glue multi-purpose liquid glue and I'm just kind of just I'm gonna put

the glue on the glimmer paper and then what I did is I take the flirty flamingo

letter and I'm just kind of offsetting it

I just wanted I felt like that and if you get any excess glue just wipe that

off it does dry clear I just kind of felt like these framelits needed a

little bit of dimension and then let's go ahead and put glue on the OH

like so and you know one of the things when I was making yesterday's project is

whoops that's backwards Oh cried when I was making yesterday's project and then

thinking of today's project I you know wanted to look for four items that are

in the annual catalog that you might already have you know sometimes we don't

have you know a lot of extra money especially right after the holidays and

I know it's very tempting to you know want to buy from the occasions catalog

I'd love for you to buy from the occasions catalog but you know sometimes

we're just a little short on funds so I wanted to try to use things that you may

already have like the paper pumpkin stamp the classic label punch you know I

mean of course just really the paper and the framelits are our new the rectangle

framelits so okay so I've just got an acrylic block I'm just gonna put some

weight on there and let that set up and so now we can start putting our card

together and I'm going to use our foam adhesive strips I love these and what I

like to do is to outline hair and glue on me I like to outline the the framelit

or the piece of paper and then when I was putting my sample together when I

was putting the the die-cuts on I could see I didn't put any adhesive right

there in the middle so I'm gonna recommend you putting some in the middle

as well and it's gonna be very well supported

there I need to come back and finish this section like so cut that down okay

and then I'm just gonna tear off just a little whoops

just a little bit of this and just cut this in half and put it like right there

in the center because that's where the die cuts are gonna go okay and you can

just take off your backing strip so how long is this cold weather supposed to

last for y'all I mean obviously this is unusually cold weather but is it

supposed to warm up um you know in the next few days

I wouldn't think this arctic air would just be around for for a week or so all

right so now what I'm gonna do push those off to the side is just Center

this get all the hair that's stuck to my fingers from the glue just like so

that's a lot better definitely put some adhesive there in the center okay I

think that looks good and then let's go ahead and do our stamping so I've just

got that piece of whisper white cardstock and I'm using happy

Valentine's Day and I'm gonna ink this up and flirty flamingos and um I've just

got one day well today and tomorrow for January's hostess code so if you spend

on where if you shop in my online store be sure to use the hostess code and

you'll receive a gift for me in the month of February if your orders a

hundred and fifty dollars or more don't use that code you'll still receive the

gift from you okay all right so I'm gonna use the

classic label punch and I want to have the the last word really close to the

edge of the arrow because I'm gonna be I'm gonna be cutting off the left side

so I think that looks good so just take your snips and I'm just kind of cutting

it off right about there

see if that's good there we go that's straight okay and then let's go ahead

and take our solid white Baker's twine I'm just let's see this is about that's

probably about 14 inches and then what I'm gonna do is I'm just gonna double it

up and then cut it in half and then go ahead and tie a bow and hopefully with

my sticky fingers from the glue I won't have too much of a problem and when you

do a double bow just make sure when you're pulling the tails that you're

pulling both of them at the same time so that you don't have two different sized

bows I think that looks good and where's my blue dots they're around here

somewhere oh here they are I'm just using glue

dots from a paper pumpkin kit and I'm just gonna put it about right there

these dots kind of have like a little paper covering

and then that Bo's just gonna get mushed right in there okay and I'll cut the

tails off when I put before I finished the card okay so here we've got our

letters and again I'm just going to use our glue the liquid glue and just make

sure that when you put them on that you have your drop shadow whatever you want

to call it on the same side so I've got it to the left and I'm just gonna put a

little bit of glue on the back and the nice thing about it is that um if you

don't Center it perfectly with the it being a wet adhesive it allows you to

move it around and before it sets up okay here we go

I love flirty flamingos it's such a pretty color and the sparkle glimmer

paper kind of has the same color we can actually put that nope it's gonna say

you could put the block on there but I'll just hold that down just a little

bit this glue does set up really quickly and then I think I just

you can either attach this with a glue dot I'm just gonna use a little bit of

snail and that's just gonna go right about there I just kind of have it on an

angle where it kind of looks like a tag and then just cut your tails these are a

little long there we go and that is the card for today so each one obviously

it's going to be a little unique so what do you think do you like that is

that cute give me some thumbs up or hearts whatever y'all do on Facebook but
