Until recent ages, many philosophers and scientists believed that the universe to be infinite.

The ancient Greeks recognized that it was difficult to imagine what an infinite universe might look like.

But they also wondered that if the universe were finite, and you stuck out your hand at the edge, where would your hand go?

But, when Isaac Newton discovered the law of gravity, he realized that gravity is always attractive. Every object in the universe attracts every other object.

If the universe truly were finite, the attractive forces of all the objects in the universe should have caused the entire universe to collapse on itself.

He realize that, if the universe is finite, it must be collapsing or expanding.

When Einstein developed his theory of gravity in the General Theory of Relativity, he thought he ran into the same problem that Newton did:

His equations said that the universe should be either expanding or collapsing, yet he assumed that the universe was static.

In 1920s Edwin Hubble, working at the Carnegie Observatories in Pasadena, California, measured the redshifts of a number of distant galaxies.

This phenomenon called Doppler effect; gives the same result for sound, radio waves and light.

For example, while the sound of an oncoming train is heard more squeal, sound is even more deep as the train moves away.

This is due to the compression of sound waves coming from the approaching train.

This is observed in the light spectra as reddening and blue shift. While the spectrum of the divergent objects glides red, the spectrum of the approaching objects shifts to blue.

Although it was thought that these galaxies were moving away from us at first, it was concluded that all the distant galaxies in all directions were moved away from us, and that it was due to the expansion of space.

All objects, except connected to each other by fundamental interaction (such as gravitation), moves away from each other due to the expansion of space.

However, clusters of interconnected galaxies are not affected by this situation like Andromeda and our galaxy.

Or, our atoms, connected each other by fundamental interactions, don't take apart.

Let's think we are making cakes with raisins. The distance between the raisins increases as the cake mix swelling, but the size of the raisins does not change. The raisins in the analogy are galaxies and the cake mix is space.

As the universe expands, the diameter of the galaxies does not change, as in the example. Only the space texture is expanding.

The expansion rate of the universe is expressed by a coefficient called the Hubble constant, which is constantly updated with observations.

This value is calculated as 65-75 km/s/Mpc according to the last measurements.

In other words, this value, calculated as 65-75 km/s per million parsec, indicates that distant galaxies are moving away from us at a higher rate than the relatively close galaxies, ie the distant space expands faster.

This coefficient also allows us to calculate the age of the universe. This is called the Hubble time.

The age of the universe is estimated to be approximately 14 billion years if the coefficient value determined by the last WMAP measurements is 71 km/s/Mpc.

Redshift is also used to measure the distance of galaxies. Because the greater the value of the redshift means greater distance.

It is seen that the velocity of the distant celestial bodies are faster than light. However, it is universe's expanding rate which faster than light.

Because of the texture of space have not any mass, it is thought that it can expand faster than light. Therefore, there is no contradictory situation with our physics rules.

What about the fate of the universe!

The three possible types of expanding universes are called open, flat, and closed universes.

If the universe were closed, it would eventually stop expanding and recollapse on itself, possibly leading to another big bang.

If the universe were flat, it would also expand forever, but the expansion rate would slow to zero after an infinite amount of time.

If the universe were open, it would expand forever. It is called big freeze scenario.

When things get farther apart, they will become colder, because their atoms will no longer interact and cause fission and fusion, which create explosions, and thus energy and heat.

A simple analogy to understand these three types of universes is to consider a spaceship launched from the surface of the Earth.

Tennis Australia (TA) says the door is open for Bernard Tomic to return to the Australian Davis Cup squad, despite Lleyton Hewitt declaring he would never play again while he was captain

But TA chief executive Craig Tiley admitted Tomic was a "long way" back if he wanted to be considered for selection in the future

The public spat between Tomic and Hewitt dominated headlines in the first week of the Australian Open, with the Queenslander calling on his former teammate to step down as Davis Cup captain

Hewitt responded by saying Tomic would not play Davis Cup under his captaincy, while accusing him of "blackmail" and making "physical" threats towards him and his family

Tiley said he believed Hewitt's comments were made "in a time of the highest level of emotion"

He said Tomic would never be barred from representing Australia in Davis Cup but talks would have to take place with Hewitt if he wanted to be selected

"As far as I'm concerned the doors are always open for players to compete," Tiley told Grandstand

"You'd want them to have that conversation and Lleyton is the captain of the team and that will happen at some point

" While feeling Hewitt was speaking in the heat of the moment, Tiley could not question the former world number one's passion for Australia's Davis Cup team

He also said Hewitt was not out of line to select himself for doubles rubbers while a captain, as suggested by Tomic

"He wants to put a team on the court every time that gives him the best chance to win the tie and that decision is up to him," Tiley said

"If he makes the decision with the team that he is the best person to put out on the doubles court because that is the best chance to win the tie then they'll [selectors] all agree and they have and that sometimes doesn't get played out fairly publicly

"I'm pretty confident that the last few ties that we've played, Lleyton has put the team out there that is the most ready, the most prepared to win the ties

" Tiley was hopeful Tomic would turn his career around, saying he had squandered his talent that was evident when he won an Australian Open main-draw match as a 16-year-old

"There's still upside, there's still opportunity," Tiley said about Tomic, who is now 26

"It's not all doom and gloom, he's young still." Nick Kyrgios was also implicated in the Davis Cup soap opera, after Tomic claimed the 23-year-old was one of several Australian players who disliked Hewitt

Kyrgios later took a swipe at Hewitt on social media about his decision to watch Alex de Minaur play a third-round match at the same time fellow Australians John Millman and Matt Ebden were also on court

The Canberran's behaviour during the early stages of his career has polarised the Australian sporting public and Tiley said he would have to shape up if he was to realise his immense talent

"Our influence on being able to change that or anything else is marginal if best … It's not like being on a team where your teammates can bring you into line

"We of course would like to see Nick maximising his talent, doing what we expect an Australian athlete to get out there and compete for but I can only talk to my experiences with Nick Kyrgios and they've always been good

"Off the court he's fantastic, gracious, he makes himself available to talk to kids and I think he's misunderstood in that space

"As a player on the court we want to equate everything to that same behaviour off the court and he's got to cross that bridge because he's got the ability to do that and at some point he's got to make that decision

Offroad Makeover Pt.01 - Unser VW T4 bekommt den Allrad Look - Duration: 8:39.

I made my way to Mathis as it´s time to change some things on our van Rudi.

Now i need to check where his garage is.

OH! Here he comes around the corner.

I finally arrived in the holy halls of Mathis.

We are now going to raise the height of the van.

To make it really worthwhile, we will also change the brake discs, brake pads, shock absorbers, a caliper and the handbrake cable.

Quick correction: the handbrake cables.

We finished changing the shock absorbers, the brake discs and the brake pads.

And now we are going to get the van a bit higher.

Finished the left side and now we are going to do the left side in a quick way.

The front is finsihed so let´s start on the back.

We also changed the caliper on the left back side because it was damaged.

Now we only have the right side on the back left and we are already finished.

"ALREADY" it is ahhhmm... just a few minutes before 1 AM.

We finally finised everything. We started around 3PM now it´s almost 2AM but everything worked out great and we will have a closer look to the result tomorrow.

The first ride was really comfortabe and I can feel the difference of the new shock absorbers.

The van got about 4-5cm higher and we also managed to get the car perfect leveled.

We did some things that are not actually visibel but the comfort of driving changed a lot.

I really like the hight how it came out and it´s not too much.

Until recent ages, many philosophers and scientists believed that the universe to be infinite.

The ancient Greeks recognized that it was difficult to imagine what an infinite universe might look like.

But they also wondered that if the universe were finite, and you stuck out your hand at the edge, where would your hand go?

But, when Isaac Newton discovered the law of gravity, he realized that gravity is always attractive. Every object in the universe attracts every other object.

If the universe truly were finite, the attractive forces of all the objects in the universe should have caused the entire universe to collapse on itself.

He realize that, if the universe is finite, it must be collapsing or expanding.

When Einstein developed his theory of gravity in the General Theory of Relativity, he thought he ran into the same problem that Newton did:

His equations said that the universe should be either expanding or collapsing, yet he assumed that the universe was static.

In 1920s Edwin Hubble, working at the Carnegie Observatories in Pasadena, California, measured the redshifts of a number of distant galaxies.

This phenomenon called Doppler effect; gives the same result for sound, radio waves and light.

For example, while the sound of an oncoming train is heard more squeal, sound is even more deep as the train moves away.

This is due to the compression of sound waves coming from the approaching train.

This is observed in the light spectra as reddening and blue shift. While the spectrum of the divergent objects glides red, the spectrum of the approaching objects shifts to blue.

Although it was thought that these galaxies were moving away from us at first, it was concluded that all the distant galaxies in all directions were moved away from us, and that it was due to the expansion of space.

All objects, except connected to each other by fundamental interaction (such as gravitation), moves away from each other due to the expansion of space.

However, clusters of interconnected galaxies are not affected by this situation like Andromeda and our galaxy.

Or, our atoms, connected each other by fundamental interactions, don't take apart.

Let's think we are making cakes with raisins. The distance between the raisins increases as the cake mix swelling, but the size of the raisins does not change. The raisins in the analogy are galaxies and the cake mix is space.

As the universe expands, the diameter of the galaxies does not change, as in the example. Only the space texture is expanding.

The expansion rate of the universe is expressed by a coefficient called the Hubble constant, which is constantly updated with observations.

This value is calculated as 65-75 km/s/Mpc according to the last measurements.

In other words, this value, calculated as 65-75 km/s per million parsec, indicates that distant galaxies are moving away from us at a higher rate than the relatively close galaxies, ie the distant space expands faster.

This coefficient also allows us to calculate the age of the universe. This is called the Hubble time.

The age of the universe is estimated to be approximately 14 billion years if the coefficient value determined by the last WMAP measurements is 71 km/s/Mpc.

It is seen that the velocity of the distant celestial bodies are faster than light. However, it is universe's expanding rate which faster than light.

Because of the texture of space have not any mass, it is thought that it can expand faster than light. Therefore, there is no contradictory situation with our physics rules.

What about the fate of the universe!

The three possible types of expanding universes are called open, flat, and closed universes.

If the universe were closed, it would eventually stop expanding and recollapse on itself, possibly leading to another big bang.

If the universe were flat, it would also expand forever, but the expansion rate would slow to zero after an infinite amount of time.

If the universe were open, it would expand forever. It is called big freeze scenario.

When things get farther apart, they will become colder, because their atoms will no longer interact and cause fission and fusion, which create explosions, and thus energy and heat.

A simple analogy to understand these three types of universes is to consider a spaceship launched from the surface of the Earth.
