on I think I'm quite extremely impressed with Samson now the story behind this
Samson microphone is that once you start doing reviews on the internet particular

now this yes excuse me this is gigantic I absolutely love it
I like huge things but more than that it's got a couple of very cool features
on it so on the back there's another input so you can turn this from a at a
single track but but pseudo stereo in other words I'm looking at my recording
at the moment and we are with just peaking at about minus five
minus 3db of that zero which will be clip I'm not clipping by the look of it
and I've got the volume flat out but I had the volume flat out on that as well
I like it that way I mean I've got the metering to understand what's going on
so I can press a button on here you go from mono to to track and that means
that my voice then would have come out on track one if it's stereo and then
there's a quarter inch jack at the back you could have put anything else you
wanted I don't think it's a microphone preamplifier but if you've got an output
of something in a keyboard player or whatever you can go into the back might
take care output from a acoustic guitar with a pickup on it for instance I think
things like that so that'd be very good so it's it's a two-track mixer as well
and then you've got the volume controls for the instruments for the microphone
then you can monitor using the volume control for your monitor button press
monitor and so I turn the monitor up and you can have your headphones you can
actually hear what the hell's going on more than that it's got three different
microphone worlds going on apparently there's two condenser microphones in
here so I've actually been looking for a microphone a one microphone that will if
I ever interview someone I could put the microphone on the table and get both
them and I and a problem is with most of all you don't need two channels or gonna
take my mixing desk with me odds I don't know do more complicated I can do it but
just more asshole this has got a figure of eight pattern
on it so you could sit it on the desk and have - people chatting and it would
come in come in as mono I believe I don't need stereo that way but that's
very cool it's on the cardioid at the moment so it's this way for me and then
we've got an omnidirectional so I think it must do something like put the
condenser microphone elements out of phase or something but it turns it into
an omnidirectional great for picking up you know the hubbub of a
room for instance whatever you just want to pick up the audience you know
clapping your I don't know whatever of course it's a USB which means it is it's
firmly in the League of either Windows or Mac I plugged mine in to the PC it
recognized it straight away and within about five seconds I was good to go with
it I fired up all dasa tea and I just selectively came as a Samson gchat Pro
was just there but it's so nice and easy and I did some test recordings yesterday
so that was fine well I've got the the re 20 from electro-voice here as well
just so well one I wanted to be able to sync the camera up and - I just wanted
either here I could swap around now it does have if I make a noise on the table
you can hear that very easily oh it's got a foam base just be careful not to
start typing you know you'll hear the right racket going on but you can
probably hear this as well but you might get a rumble and off this I don't know
you could put it on a shelf or course what I did
part of my initial test typical me I took it all apart put on a mic stand and
I did this quarter inch jack on the back of the screw the nuts was loose but you
know hey I'd have not loose my Bentley once so whatever and in any case that
Jack's probably soldered directly the sockets probably soldered directly to a
printed circuit board so it's almost as ethics then else I just tidy up by hand
that's good enough to me um other than that I'm very comfortable to quality
it's extremely heavy I mean I quite like this because it's a lot lighter and it's
less money so that's like 49 that's like a hundred and nearly a hundred and
twenty so we're gonna go to mull for instance with the chaps and I just want
a decent half decent microphone with me I probably take something little like
this because you know it folds fairly compact now
get that in the back of my case whereas this is a really nice little studio you
know look how it's just so big it looks fantastic I think I've mentioned all the
features you make your mind up I like it and Samson if you get any horse stuff
you want me to review send it over I'm just watching the red light actually
it's the red light telling me it is going into clip I'm not getting clip on
the output just do them microphone so for turn that down old you know what I
think it's gone into clip well well one two one two buckle my shoe one two
buckle my shoe so the red light on the front is telling
me that this whole thing is a waste of time because I've probably been clipping
internally not clipping on the output right but I might be clipping in there
